Pediatric Ritalin may affect young brains
NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- U.S. medical researchers have discovered use of the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder drug Ritalin by young children might affect their brains.
The Weill Cornell Medical College animal study is among the first to investigate the effects of Ritalin (methylphenidate) on the neurochemistry of the developing brain.
Between 2 percent and 18 percent of U.S. children are thought to be affected by ADHD and Ritalin -- a stimulant similar to amphetamine and cocaine -- remains one of the most prescribed drugs for the behavioral disorder.
"The changes we saw in the brains of treated rats occurred in areas strongly linked to higher executive functioning, addiction and appetite, social relationships and stress, said Professor Teresa Milner, the study's lead author. "These alterations gradually disappeared over time once the rats no longer received the drug."
The scientists said their findings suggest physicians should be careful in their diagnosis of ADHD before prescribing Ritalin. That's because Ritalin might be helpful in battling the disorder but harmful if given to youngsters with healthy brain chemistry.
The research appears in the Journal of Neuroscience.

THE SWARMINGS IN FREDERICTON!!!!! WILL TRUE JUSTICE PREVAIL???
The talk of the City is the issue of swarming.
I always promoted this City as one of the safest City in Canada.
A person can walk around the city without fearing being attack.
This all change with the swarmings going around Fredericton.
At first, I didn’t bother to blog the issue because I believe it was a personal attack.
One guy from Toronto told me last night - What’s the big deal? It happens every day in our City.
Well? This is not Toronto or Halifax. This is one of the most beautiful City in Canada.
I learned these punks might be kids from middle class parents.
They believe this is like a game.
I know the Fredericton Police will catch these punks.
I saw the Police in action last Friday evening in the downtown core.
They received a call that someone stole a cell phone at knife point.
They split and quickly ran into an alley and the other went downtown looking for a guy on a red bicycle.
They caught the robber 30 minutes later.
What is the most importance issue in this sad case? If these coward punks are caught? They should be charge with attempt murder and get the max in jail.
If these punks only get probation < Which they will!!! > It’ll be the end of Fredericton as we know it!!!!
The title of a safe City will be officially over!!!
This would send a message that it’s cool to drive around in two vehicles and beats up the poor citizens of Fredericton.
As for this blogger? I’ll still walk around the city at night. I’m not afraid of a bunch of punks.
I’m suicidal anyway!!!..lol
Lets pray that the Justice System will send a strong message that this cowardly act will not be tolerated.
I just heard on 92.3 Fredfm that a young guy was just arrested and will be in court in September.
From what I’m told he acted alone so therefore that one false swarming.
Three criminal investigations to go....
CBC just announce there was another beat up this morning. Two guys attack someone in the downtown core.

NEW BRUNSWICK EXPROPRIATION VICTIMS - DEAL OR NO DEAL????
Expropriation? Has it ever happened to you or someone you know???
We all have heard of the famous Jackie Vautour and his over 30 years long battle with the Government.
I have been told the Government or bureaucrats have the system set up for only the well connected people such as Appraisers and Lawyers to make money from property owner losses.
From what I’m told the Appraiser will get roughly 25%. The property owner will also receive 25% and the lawyers will get a grand total of 50%!!!!
…and the taxpayers pays the bill!!!
Is this a way to take and justify the taxpayer’s funds?

The landowners will be told by the bureaucrats such as John Stanley Raymond of the famous television show- Deal or No deal!!!!
This is my final offer. Deal or not deal???
If you don’t take the deal therefore you’ll be fried because the Government will take it anyway.
Take a close look at the propose LNG Pipe route through Saint John…
Will these landowners be offered a fair deal for their land? Who knows?

Richard Harris has been fighting this issue for over 10 years and it did take a toll on his life.
He took his first heart attack in 1999, and since then three more!!
From what I’m told he was dealing with a crooked Atlantic law firm PPHM ,a expert Expropriation Lawyer from Nova Scotia.
