Hi Charles
How many bridges do they have in Fredericton?
In Saint John we have one little bridge (Reversing Falls) that is a way to get from West Saint John to the Northend.
Then we have the Harbour Bridge which connects the Westside to the uptown area and north. We have to pay a toll of 25 cents or 15 cents if you purchase tokens.
We have been paying for a bridge that they keep borrowing money from or probably the money just never went to paying for the bridge.
This loan should be written off but for some reason it won't happen.
Westsiders have never been given respect as far as businesses developing in our area.
If they put a toll at the beginning of the off ramp of the McKay Highway coming into the city then we could say we are treated fairly.
It angers me that our Mayor wants us to keep paying, paying and paying.
All citizens should be treated with respect.
They could take the tolls off when one bridge is under repair but no they are so greedy that the vehicles have to idle burning fuel for 20 to 30 mintes at peak times.
The cost and pollution is too much.
Saint John is the only Bridge in NB that has a toll. ( or am I wrong?)
We are also the only area with a Mayor that gives millions away just to turn around make the little guy pay forever.
Give the citizens of Saint John respect.
This bridge get us from one side to the other nothing special but a make work project- a complete waste of taxpayers money.
Please I want to know more information about the Fredericton bridges.
Thankyou.
There's three bridge in the Capital.
Princess Maggaret Bridge
and the Westmorland Bridge
There's also the walking trial bridge. < one of the most beautiful site I ever seen >

Saint John has been paying for this Harbour Bridge for 37 years. The money has not always been paid towards the dept. There was some deal between the government that never was followed through, this loan was suppose to be forgiven. They keep spending money on high tech just to collect the token which, I'm sure could cost almost as much as the bridge. We could also some alot of money on the cost of employees. No one wants anyone to lose jobs but better the jobs for repairing the bridge instead of this make project. If they want to keep us paying so the city can use this money for services then let us be fair; coming in off the McKay Highway and charging 25 cents is not much to ask to also assist in services. Of course they would never go for that. We need the government step and fix this problem that was created by all levels of government. We don't need the Mayor borrowing from this money. He has us so far in dept now for 25 years or more.
Why does all other areas have lovely long briges and they do not have tolls? Why is it Saint John always get this treatment? Too bad Lou Murphy isn't still here, he would at least keep trying to get this wrong corrected. If people demanded their rights it could happen. We are passive and the politician are using this to their advantage. If someone has an idea as to how to corrct this please help! In the mean time we keep paying while others don't.
The reason you need to pay tolls is: you need money to cover property tax which Irvings will not be paying for their LNG terminal. Then more tax money will be needed, from taxpayers, for the clean up of pollution if that happens. Otherwise like current harbour pollution you will have to live with it.
I should clarify. If city receives the $125 million in property taxes which are being forgiven then that money would be helpful providing some infrastructural services including maintaining the bridge. Instead we have to pay for all of it.
