A READER OF THIS BLOG CAUGHT IN HURRICANE DEAN IN MEXICO!!!!!

Hi Charles,

it is early in the season for this, but we are lucky this year. dean is
coming to visit, planning on doing some property renovations for a large number of people. we are ready and prepared for whatever comes our way. we have lots of water, propane, rice, coffee, milk, sugar, etc. and of course we have lots of rum for the hurricane party!!
the projected track of hurricane dean is forecast to cross over us tomorrow and exit the yucatan directly west of us. but as merida is in the center of the penninsula, the intensity will be greatly reduced from what it hits the coast at. we are expecting winds from 75 to 95 miles per hour, or possibly even less past history suggests that we may get mostly rain, or that the storm may veer sharply north.

This will not make much difference to us, the storm is 500 kilometers wide, we are 320 kilometers from cancun.so, say your prayers and light your candles for the working people of the
carribbean coast. they will need lots of help starting wednesday.
i will keep you posted as the days go by, but if you do not hear anything for a few days, do not panic, the only power generating station for the yucatan penninsula is in viallodid, which is only 150 kilometers from the coast. we may lose the power for a few days.
we will take pictures of before, during and after.

god bless

SECOND EMAIL

Hello again :

I think his will be my last update, Dean was good to us and headed south. The wind is still howling but it really is like a bad "Norte" . The rain was not a problem at all. We are safe and staying indoors for the day. Will be going to the beach to look things over and send pix if any damage there. Than you all for your concerns and prayers.
hugs

THIRD LETTER

Good morning Charles,

It is too early in the morning I Know. The wind has just started to make some noise here in Merida, the rain is not almost none existing. Just had a report from the beach and the winds there are higher too but still doing well. the power and internet are working here as well as the beach. Almost over.
Hugs

LAST ONE -

Hello Charles,

It is now 12:35 am Tues. It seems like once again we are lucky and Dean will go well to the south from us and those by the coast. The winds have picked up some and we are now starting to see some of the low level clouds roll in, however we have not seen any rain yet. We are also hoping the power company prevented shifting the power supply from the new plant in Valladolid since they will get hit harder.
We will be sending reports through out tomorrow as long as we have power.
Thanks to all of you who are thinking of us.

Ivonne, David and Abigail
