DO YOU WISH TO SIGN THE PETITION AGAINST THE LNG DEAL???

Open Letter From Former Councillor Pat Landers!!!!
City of Saint John
There is a saying here in the Maritime Provinces which goes, “He who has … gets.” And, isn’t is coincidental that when we refer to the conglomerate called the Irving Empire we refer to them with the all-encompassing word “He”, even though the empire is run today by sons, grand children and soon, great grandchildren?
I would like to pose a few questions that have recently come to mind and which, in all probability, have long ago been forgotten by most people in Saint John.
The Irvings received a 30-year subsidized water rate to their pulp mill and today, long after those 30 years have expired, is it true that they still pays less than any other commercial user in this city?
The Irvings had a $2 million pipe line installed by the City from Spruce Lake to the Irving mill, which was never uitilized, and is it true that $2 million has yet to be repaid?
Now, how about the frigate program for the federal Defence Department, were there not start-up grants from us, the taxpayers? And, after the Irvings reaped personal gains of just shy of $1 billion, we the taxpayer gave them another close-down subsidy? And, were some of these subsidies used to break union shops within the shipyards?
We all realize the and pillage of our crown lands (notice I use the word “our”?). After we gave the Irvings permission to utilize that land to realize yet more wealth, is it not true that we ended up giving them another subsidy to reforest those same crown lands so that they can harvest them another time for yet more personal profit?
On the subject of the property owned by J.K. Irving in Rothesay, known as the Netherwood Land, is it true that no property tax is paid by this family because there is a tax-exempt Chapel on that property?
On another point, is it true that the city of Saint John closed its gas pumps on Rothesay Avenue and now city employees must use Irving credit cards?
Perhaps the citizens of Saint John should have the Irvings contracted as consultants to our mayor and council to show the ordinary people of the City how they could benefit from tax breaks.
I am of the opinion that the Irvings are laughing all the way to the Bermuda bank on the backs of the people of Saint John.
Would the Irvings accept such scandalous deals from other business people if the shoe were on the other foot?
Jim, Jack, Arthur and Kenneth Irving, you “look into the eyes” of the loyal taxpayers of Saint John and tell them when ‘enough is enough’.
Shame on you. Shame on us. Shame on the mayor and council. Shame on the “Lord” government.
There are but a few people who are aware of the full extent of subsidies that have been afforded this wealthy empire.
We are not just dealing with the richest people in Saint John. We are not just dealing with the richest people in New Brunswick. We are not just dealing with the richest people in Canada. We are dealing with one of the richest families in the world.
The Irvings are one of the last empires which requires a tax break from the people who can afford it the least.
With personal regards.

CHARLES AND RITALIN ON TELEVISION TONIGHT!!!
A few hours ago, I had an interview with CBC < FRENCH STATION > I guess it's suppose to be in the newscast at 6:00pm!!!! Channel 11!!!
BERNARD RICHARD MUST BE CONGRATULATED FOR A JOB VERY WELL DONE!!!!
Hats off to Bernard Richard for speaking out against the use of Ritalin. We need more people like the Ombudsman to speak up on certain issues.
Will Bernard Lord listen to the Ombudsman concerns? Of course not so I guess the drugging and killing of the children in New Brunswick will continue till the next provincial election which is slated for oct 15, 2007!
By the way? Just for the record, I never called Norm MacFarlane a crook but I strongly believe that the LNG issue can hold the city back for the next three years.
It's like Watergate in the 70s and this issue will hold the city hostage because I am certain that these protesters are not going to go away.
I chatted with a few of them and they told me that they were tired but they won't give up.
The Mayor must announce an news conference and tell Saint Johners that he made a mistake.
As I told the talk show this morning. I believe that Norm has some Scottish in his system so therefore he will not admit that he made a mistake.
I know all about stubbornness. Me Mother is Scottish and I haven't talk to her in years. Once a Scotsman turns? There's no turning back!
I am the same way but the Mayor must let his feeling down and admit that it was a mistake.
I told Minister Mr. Volpe yesterday the same thing. I told him that this decision was reach with a gun to the Councillor's head and this is not the way the system is suppose to work!
New Brunswickers are upset.
I also told the Minister that he should take some money from New Brunswickers and place air Conditioners in the Legislature.
Next week, it's going to be hot in there and these MLA'S will pass any bills to get out of there. I witnessed this last summer when the insurance bill went through. It's hot in there!!!
Can someone tell me the reason there's no air-conditioners in the Legislature?
Abel Leblanc must do as the great Lou Murphy did in the 90s!
Lou Murphy was the most honest politician New Brunswickers ever seen and it's hard to beleive that he died 10 years ago on Oct 2st!
My God how time flies?
He stood on his feet and gave a very stern speech to Frank McKenna about Saint Joe's! He went on for 20 minutes!
Abel LeBlanc and the Liberals must do the same approach. New Brunswickers are upset and Bernard Lord will not listen to the people concerns.
The last few days was a great day for those poor kids who are force on Ritalin. These kids have no hope whatsoever once they reach adulthood and all thanks goes out to those racist members of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission who told the Government that the Irving way of discriminating against people with ADHD is ok!
There should be an huge inquiry on our Human Rights Commission in New Brunswick! You have a bunch of people who maybe accept Irving payback to demise certain cases against the Irvings!
We have a convicted Thief Carl White who stole from the Irvings in the 89 and is now in that Commission? Question? How did he manage to get in there?
Speaking of group who speaks out against RACISM!!!
This picture was taken last week!
This is Sylvia Parks who's the director of P.R.U.D.E. in Saint John. I walked in her office on many occasions telling her and the workers in that office that Racism is very much alive in the Irving Empire.
I'm driving these people crazy and the picture tells it all!!!!...lol.....
Once again, Bernard Richard did a fantastic job and he should be congratulated for a job very well done! Bon travaille Bernard!!!! Will the Premier listen? Time will tell???
This is a picture of me demanding the Pharmacist of the amount of Ritalin being prescribed in this Province. But poor Pharmacist doesn't have a clue!!! I would love to know the exact amount that being prescribed???
Below are the stories that appeared in the Irving's newspapers on the issue of Ritalin!!! Enjoy!!!

Provincial ombudsman calls for in-depth look at used to calm hyper children
FREDERICTON (CP) - New Brunswick's ombudsman wants the province to take an in-depth look at the widespread use of such as Ritalin for children with attention deficit disorders.
Bernard Richard told the Senate committee examining children's rights yesterday his office deals with many child-related issues since New Brunswick has not yet established a youth and child advocate.
Richard said he is deeply concerned about the steadily rising number of children medicated with psycho-stimulant such as Ritalin.
He said the province's Education Department has issued a directive to teachers and school districts making it clear that educators are not to suggest medications to parents.
"The Department of Education has sent a directive to all teachers, all of the school districts, saying it is not the role of teachers to give medical advice and diagnose a medical condition," Richard said.
"I really feel there is a need in Canada, and New Brunswick is no different, to have a closer look at the issue of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and the prescription of Ritalin. I'm concerned that it is being seen as the easy solution to an overactive child."
Richard said the provincial government should consider a legislative committee to study ADHD and the medication of children.
School officials estimate that about five per cent of school-aged children suffer from ADHD, a disorder that makes it difficult for people to focus, pay attention to lessons and interact effectively with others.
There are roughly 48,000 New Brunswickers taking the medication.
Jason Humphrey of the provincial Education Department said the directive to teachers was of a precautionary nature and did not arise out of specific complaints.
"It simply doesn't fall within the responsibilities of a teacher to make suggestions about medications," Humphrey said.
Brian Bawn, co-president of the New Brunswick Teachers Federation, said teachers realize they are not to suggest medications to parents.
But he said the problem of special-needs children in the classrooms is serious.
New Brunswick teachers recently signed a new contract with the provincial government, but negotiations were long and difficult and one of the most contentious issues was the growing number of special-needs students.
