BERNARD LOSES VOTE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 7 YEARS!!!!!

STC_0198

It’s raining hard outside late on a Friday evening so I may as well write a little update of today’s events.

This morning, I decided to stay in my little room and watch the proceedings on television.

I knew for a fact that Tanker would support the budget so why bother sitting in the gallery?

STF_0178

Here, I can relax and smoke a cigarette while I watch the going ons and lets not forget the camera that I can picture of different politicians.

I would do the same action in the Legislature but the Quebec security took the strange procedure of taking my camera away from me once I walked through the doors.

I’m not comfortable with the atmosphere at the Legislature. Something isn’t right but time will tell. Look? Security are all over the place. They're watching very closely.

STA_0207

Once in the Legislature, I went in the gallery and I saw a couple of Liberal workers sitting in a little group.

I walked up in the Gallery and sat down beside Allison Brewer. < Leader of the NDP! >

STB_0187

You should have seen the look of a few MLA’s faces once I put my arm over her shoulders? …lol….They must have said - What the?????...lol…

I saw Abel LeBlanc and gave the flighty MLA a thumb ups!!!! He didn’t look too bad for a guy that the paper wrote that he could end up in jail.

The second vote was for the money of the budget to pass. Now? I’m no genius when it comes to these issues and Allison Brewer was nice enough to explain me the details.

The budget passed and now they need the money for the budget. But in this case? I guess the speaker isn’t allowed to vote?

So at the end? It was dead even!

STA_0173
STB_0172

The speaker verdict was that they will debate the budget in committee of a whole. Maybe some reader can explain in this blog the whole details???

But the bottom line is this? Bernard Lord lost this vote for the first time in 7 years!!!

Afterwards, I met Abel LeBlanc outside of the Legislature. He didn’t look too good.

STA_0192

I have known Abel for over 15 years and I decided to stick close with the guy.

I told him that we need to go for a walk?

He began to walk towards the downtown area but I directed to the other way.

I won’t disclose the details of our little chat but it was very interesting.

I was surprised that Abel has never been on the walking bridge. He didn’t even know it existed?

STA_0193

This MLA is from Saint John and he does a lot of business in the downtown core.

Once he’s done? He jumps in his vehicle and goes right back to the Loyalist City.

We continued halfway through the bridge and he couldn’t believe the quietness of the area.

STA_0196

I’m certain that Abel will return to this spot again! During my protest, I came here often. It's very relaxing!!

STB_0194
STC_0198

Once near the Legislature? Abel met some supporters. I bet that he's going to get lots of support once he arrives in Saint John. Abel LeBlanc is a people's person!!!

STA_0202

So? Bernard Lord survived the vote but I believe as I said in the past?

I truly believe that he will call an election this weekend or next week!

There’s a lot of action in the House and it’s too bad you cannot be here to witness the happy and sad faces around the Legislature.

Myself, I hope there’s an election. It would be bad for the boarders and roomers because they’ll have to wait for a new Government.

One certain fact would be with the Liberals in power? They will put in place the education and health standing committee to study the issue of drugging our children!

STG_0262

The drugging and the killings of our children will finally come to a stop or slow down a little!

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU???

While walking down Queen Street today, I noticed this guy with a camera so I quickly took a photo.

STA_0227

I was going to continue my walk but he stopped me and asked me what was my views on the 1972 Hockey series between the Russians and Canada? I quickly gave my views and left.

STD_0254

Always something going on in the Capital!!!!

But before leaving the area, I took one last picture!...lol

I never chatted with this guy during my protest. I found him the quiet type.

A few weeks ago, I sent the guy a private email on a saturday evening and he replied back in 18 minutes!!!!

Who would have believe that a Minister from the Lord Government would reply so fast? Especially on a Saturday evening???

David Alward is number one in my books!!!!

ADHD Skin Patch Gets Approved

By Robert Steyer

The Food and Drug Administration approved the first skin patch treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, giving the go-ahead Thursday for Daytrana from Noven Pharmaceuticals (NOVN:Nasdaq - commentary - research - Cramer's Take) and Shire (SHPGY:Nasdaq ADR - commentary - research - Cramer's Take).

The skin patch contains methylphenidate, the same ingredient found in Ritalin, another ADHD drug made by Novartis (NVS:NYSE ADR - commentary - research - Cramer's Take) and by several generic-drug companies. Daytrana was approved for children age 6 to 12.

Shire has designs on becoming the dominant player in ADHD drugs. The company already makes and sells Adderall and Adderall XR, which can be prescribed for adults, teenagers and children. Additionally, Shire is working with New River Pharmaceuticals (NRPH:Nasdaq - commentary - research - Cramer's Take) of Radford, Va., on an ADHD drug that's being reviewed by the FDA as a treatment for children 6 to 12 years old.

The FDA announcement came after the markets closed Thursday. On Friday, Miami-based Noven saw its shares add 12 cents, or 0.7%, to $17.92. Shire, of Basingstoke, England, was up 10 cents, or 0.2%, to $46.35.

In December, the FDA issued conditional approval for Daytrana, telling Noven and Shire that it had questions about the proposed label. The agency also wanted a clarification of certain data and information about post-marketing surveillance and studies.

Since then, two FDA advisory committees have met to discuss the potential side effects of existing ADHD drugs. One committee voted 8-7, with one abstention, in February that the FDA require a black box warning on all stimulant drugs, including the Adderall family and Ritalin, about their cardiovascular risks.

The black box warning is the agency's strongest alert for side effects. The FDA hasn't acted on the recommendation. Adderall and Adderall XR have a black box warning saying that amphetamine abuse can lead to heart damage or sudden death.

Minister in hot water over crude remark in legislature
Business development minister made remark in front of Grade 6 class

Times & Transcript Staff

FREDERICTON - More than 20 Blacks Harbour Grade 6 students visiting the legislative assembly had just left sardines on the desk of every MLA when the minister of Business New Brunswick gave the class his own salty treat.

However, Kirk MacDonald's offering came in the form of an off-colour joke referring to his Scottish heritage and his ministerial manhood. When making his annual member's statement about Tartan Day, MacDonald made a crack about what prompted his decision to ditch his kilt.

"However as of late there's been some confusion. Many people feel that I have a tripod underneath my kilt and therefore to avoid any confusion, Mr. Speaker, I decided just to wear the tartan badge today," MacDonald said to the laughs and groans of the politicians.

Charlotte Liberal MLA Rick Doucet, who had just introduced a class of Grade 6 students from his riding and had asked for a respectful level of decorum inside the legislature, was livid over what the children were forced to hear.

"This is just (wrong) as far as I'm concerned. Here we are trying to show young people what it's like to develop some apathy for politics and this is the type of thing they've got to hear from the government side," Doucet said. "I'm completely disgusted."

As a backbencher, MacDonald was known for his quick wit and booming voice. Now that he's a cabinet minister and his words are being parsed a bit more closely, MacDonald said he's sorry if he offended anyone.

"It was a humorous statement that was made and I stand by it. I don't see anything wrong with it," MacDonald said.

When speaking to reporters after the comment, the blushing business minister wouldn't explain exactly what he meant by a "tripod" underneath his kilt.

After being informed of the comment, Rosella Melanson, the executive director for the Advisory Council on the Status of Women, said that reinforces why many people shy away from politics.

"It's inappropriate. Yes, he should have to stand in front of the Grade 6 class and explain what he was saying," Melanson said. "It is one of the many examples to draw out why people, let alone women, are not interested in politics."

Dan Taylor, president of the New Brunswick Scottish Cultural Association, said he is enjoying the sudden burst of attention for Tartan Day.

"I love it because this is the most attention that Tartan Day has ever got," Taylor said. "And maybe now the government will wake up and realize there are Scots in the province. I don't think he meant to insult anybody or any group or any children in the gallery. It was just a fun comment and should be taken fairly lightly."

Tories want LeBlanc's comments investigated
Saint John Lancaster MLA could be in hot water over comments in letter to the editor
LeBlanc

By Shannon Hagerman
Telegraph-Journal

FREDERICTON - A Saint John MLA who called Michael (Tanker) Malley's promotion to Speaker a "sham" could find himself tossed out of the legislature for alleged contempt of the House.

Saint John Lancaster Liberal MLA Abel LeBlanc is being accused of breaking privilege after he called Mr. Malley's appointment an act of "greed" in a letter published in the Telegraph-Journal Thursday.

Parliamentary tradition forbids elected members from calling into question the Speaker's impartiality or rulings.

"His comments have undermined this venerable institution and the work we perform," said Government House Leader Bev Harrison. "By questioning this House's selection of Speaker and the operation of this legislature, he has brought disrepute to the role of the Speaker and the legislature as a whole."

Mr. Harrison is asking the matter be investigated by the legislature's standing committee on privileges.

If Mr. LeBlanc is found guilty of contempt of the legislature, he could face stiff penalties.

The committee-which rarely meets in New Brunswick-has the power to order an MLA removed from the legislature, revoke their right to vote and even impose jail sentences, in severe cases.

It will be up to Mr. Malley to decide if an investigation is ordered.

Mr. Malley said Thursday he will review the alleged breach and report back on his decision.

Liberal House Leader Kelly Lamrock urged Mr. Malley to seriously weigh the consequences of allowing the privileges committee to investigate the issue. The governing Tories hold a majority on the committee and could abuse the power to tip the scales inside the tightly-matched legislature, he warned.

"It's not a question of privilege that means you give the government the power to throw Liberals in jail or throw Liberals out of the house," he said. "They want to pass motions to take a Liberal out of commission."

Mr. LeBlanc refused to comment on the issue on Thursday.

The controversy over Mr. LeBlanc's letter erupted late in the afternoon on Thursday a few hours after a Conservative cabinet minister was accused of making offensive comments when he referred to the "tripod" under his kilt.

Business New Brunswick Minister Kirk MacDonald later apologized.

Mr. Lamrock said the allegations being lodged against Mr. LeBlanc were "bogus".

He said even the House of Commons has been reluctant to send investigations to the privileges committee. It has only happened three times, he said.

"The House should tread very lightly when we talk about letting a committee of privilege throw a member in jail for expressing their opinion," Mr. Lamrock said.

The letter may dominate debate again today, on the eve of a crucial budget vote.

Mr. LeBlanc's letter stated that the governing Tories should be ashamed for using Mr. Malley's appointment for their own personal gain.

"I am writing on the issue of Michael (Tanker) Malley becoming Speaker of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly. How disheartening it is to have this sort of sham take place in the legislature. No wonder the citizens of New Brunswick question politicians and their motives," he wrote. "In this instance, the motive is greed."

Mr. LeBlanc also suggested the real reason Mr. Malley has been named Speaker is to protect the pensions of government MLAs who must serve eight sessions inside the legislature before they are eligible.

"I've heard of sneaky deals, but this one takes the cake," Mr. LeBlanc wrote. "Shame, shame, shame."

He also questioned why Mr. Malley was good enough for the post.

"Mr. Malley chose to leave the Progressive Conservative Party to sit as an Independent. He supposedly did so because he was passed over in the last cabinet shuffle. Although not ministerial material, this man is now holding one of the most prestigious seats in our province. I must ask, does this make any sense? How did this happen?" he asked.

This was the letter that Abel wrote –

Malley 'deal' takes the cake

I am writing on the issue of Michael (Tanker) Malley becoming Speaker
of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly. How disheartening it is to
have this sort of sham take place in the legislature. No wonder the
citizens of New Brunswick question politicians and their motives.

In this instance, the motive is greed. For those who may not know, each
MLA has to have eight sessions to be eligible for a pension. Each
session is constituted by the giving of the throne speech. There is
generally one throne speech per year, however, that can be changed at the whim
of the premier. The last throne speech was made in December, 2005; this
carries through until, supposedly, December, 2006.

Mr. Malley chose to leave the Progressive Conservative Party to sit as
an Independent. He supposedly did so because he was passed over in the
last cabinet shuffle. Although not ministerial material, this man is
now holding one of the most prestigious seats in our province. I must
ask, does this make any sense? How did this happen?

At the 11th hour former cabinet minister Tony Huntjens supposedly
stepped aside for the good of the Tory team, allowing Mr. Malley to step in.
What has this done for the team?

Well, it is allowing l6 Tory MLAs to get the time needed to collect
their pensions. Had this government fallen, those MLAs would have been at
the mercy of the electorate to regain their seats - and earn the time
needed to collect this coveted pension. I've heard of sneaky deals, but
this one takes the cake.

Shame, shame, shame.

ABEL LeBLANC
Liberal MLA
Saint John Lancaster

I bumped into Abel LeBlanc yesterday and told him that I posted his letter in my blog.

He told me that they cut his letter down a lot.

From what I could understand? It wasn’t the same letter that Abel wanted?

I’m certain that the message was the same but these Irving’s editor can change a letter BIG TIMES!!!

I know…it happened to me on a few occasions!

Now? I don’t believe that Tanker will demand an investigation on this issue.

I know Tanker and Abel very well and these two MLA’S always called themselves People’s person.

If Tanker has a beef with Abel?

Just write a letter to the editor.

If he goes against Abel?

Well? I am going to be one upset puppy!

Yes, this morning, there’s going to be lots of action in the House and guess what? I’m going to sit here in my little room and watch it on TV!!!!

The Government will not fall and it’s going to be very interesting watching the issue of Kirk MacDonald and Abel LeBlanc in the Chambers.

If I’m there? I’ll sit in the gallery and it drives me nuts! I’ll be right here in my room and if the situation goes out of control?

I’ll run at the Leg!!! It’s only two blocks away!

Good for Abel for speaking the truth and lets see if Tanker is indeed a People Person????

I always respected Tanker but if he speaks against Abel?

Our little friendship will be dissolved forever!!!

I’ll stand by Abel 100%!!!

As a matter of fact? I just phoned the talk show voicing my support of Abel LeBlanc!!!! Keep the fine work of speaking the truth Abel!!!

GOD'S MINUTE!!!!

LOVE IS PATIENT, LOVE IS KIND, DOES NOT ENVY, IT
DOES NOT BOAST, IT IS NOT PROUD. IT IS NOT RUDE, IT
IS NOT SELF-SEEKING, IT IS NOT EASILY ANGERED, IT
KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS. LOVE DOES NOT
DELIGHT IN EVIL BUT REJOICES WITH THE TRUTH. IT
ALWAYS PROTECTS, ALWAYS TRUSTS, ALWAYS HOPES,
ALWAYS PERSEVERES.
( 1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-7 *NIV )

Dear Charles,
Our society today often confuses love with lust. True love,
like the kind God shows toward us, is directed outward toward
others not inward toward ourselves.

Therefore we are to show others God's unselfish love
everyday. For it is written; NOBODY SHOULD SEEK HIS
OWN GOOD, BUT THE GOOD OF OTHERS.
( 1 CORINTHIANS 10:24 ) So; LET US NOT BECOME
CONCEITED, PROVOKING AND ENVYING EACH OTHER.
( GALATIANS 5:26 ) Instead we should be; BE KIND AND
COMPASSIONATE TO ONE ANOTHER, FORGIVING EACH
OTHER, JUST AS IN CHRIST GOD FORGAVE US.
( EPHESIANS 4:32 )

Also Charles, remember that there is joy to be found in
giving to others without expecting anything in return! After all
that kind of unselfish love is the kind that God fills His
Children with, and expects His Children to show to one
another as well.

Have a wonderful day my friend, and let your love light
shine brightly. For after all; GOD IS LOVE. ( 1 JOHN 4:16 )
and you are His Child! So smile and have a wonderful
weekend. Amen.

With My Love & Prayers,
your servant Allen
