J. ESMONDE BARRY WAS THE LAST OF THE GENTLEMAN WARRIORS!!!!
I was very saddened to learn last night on the evening news of the passing of J. Esmonde Barry.
My God? He was a fighter and it was almost an impossible task to stay mad at the guy.
I used to call him almost bi-weekly and he was a great guy to listen to.
During the suggested cuts to the Saint Joe’s Hospital in Saint John, he knew I was a backer of Frank Mckenna via my many letters to the Editor.< The good old days >
He would always refrain to Frank – Your Great Leader!!!
The last time I chatted with Esmonde was last year and he was in good sprit.
He left his mark in Saint John BIG TIME!!!
He was a fighter but in a gentleman way!
It was impossible to stay mad at the guy.
Esmonde Barry and the great Lou Murphy were the Champions for Saint Joe’s and it’s because of the efforts and courage of those great individuals that we still has a hospital in Central Saint John.
Yes, the great warriors are quickly leaving us and I don’t see anyone with enough determination and courage to talk their place?
My Deepest Sympathy to the whole family.
We have lost one of the best!!!!
Aurevoire mon chum!!!!
P.S. If any of his family members reads this blog? Can you send me a picture of Esmonde at oldmaison@yahoo.com
Merci

Barry remembered as dedicated, rare

Saint John is mourning a well-known activist this week.
J. Esmonde Barry passed away Tuesday evening in Ottawa, at the age of 83, of complications from a heart attack.
Perhaps best known as the voice of the Friends of St. Joe's, he was instrumental in keeping St. Joseph's Hospital open in Saint John's uptown.
He likened the quest he began in 1976 to save the facility to a real bare-knuckle fight.
"A good fighter, after he's knocked down two or three times, he gets up," Barry once said. "That's what makes a champion. I think we're going to be champions before this is over."
Jane Barry is the executive director of the Greater Saint John Community Foundation, but back when Barry was fighting to save St. Joe's, she was a provincial cabinet minister who occasionally locked horns with him.
Although she says she didn't always agree with his point of view, she says she always respected him.
"He certainly was very dedicated to the causes in which he believed, and yes, people like that are somewhat rare," she said Wednesday.
Barry also lobbied for compensation for those involved in the hepatitis C tainted blood scandal of the 1980s. He was himself infected by a blood transfusion at that time.
He leaves behind wife Maureen and 11 surviving children.

Wendell Fulton relaxing....
ARE THE IRVINGS PUSHING NEW BRUNSWICK TO A STYLE OF OLD GERMANY????
I believe this is pushing the issue a little overboard.
The Irvings asked me to remove the picture of the War bride so I did.
This morning Wendell Fulton wrote a little column about me and I’m not allowed to use it?
My opinion is this is plain and simple – HOGWASH!!!!
I used CBC stories in the past and someone asked me politely to add their link with the story.
Sounds fair!!!
Now? I can understand their reason is I made money off this site but I am not!!!
I don’t read the Irving papers as much as I used to and I believe it’s nice of me to post a good story from their site.
I believe it’s time that the Canadian Government investigate the Irvings of the way they wish to turn this Province like Old Germany.
So the story is about this blogger and I will not remove the story off my site.
The Irvings might use me as an example and haul me court?
Truly stay tuned!!!
Here’s the email I just received. I can’t reply to the guy because the Irvings have blocked my emails.

God's Minute!!!!
WHY ARE YOU TROUBLED, AND WHY DO DOUBTS
RISE IN YOUR MINDS?
( LUKE 24:38 *NIV )
Dear Charles,
We are all Architects of our own future! The thoughts
we have today dictate what our future holds for us tomorrow.
Therefore a person who has positive thoughts shall have
positive results, just as a person who has negative thoughts
shall attract negative results in their life.
Therefore if we start our day by counting all of our
blessings, and then try our best to have positive thoughts
all day, our hearts will be merry! After all: BLESSINGS
CROWN THE HEAD OF THE RIGHTEOUS, because:
FROM THE FULLNESS OF HIS GRACE WE HAVE ALL
RECEIVED ONE BLESSING AFTER ANOTHER.
( PROVERBS 10:6 ) & ( JOHN 1:16 )
After all: EVERY GOOD AND PERFECT GIFT IS FROM
ABOVE, COMING DOWN FROM THE FATHER OF THE
HEAVENLY LIGHTS, WHO DOES NOT CHANGE LIKE
SHIFTING SHADOWS. ( JAMES 1:17 )
So, SING AND MAKE MUSIC IN YOUR HEART TO THE
LORD, ALWAYS GIVING THANKS TO GOD THE FATHER
FOR EVERYTHING, IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS
CHRIST. ( EPHESIANS 5:19-20 )
Have a wonderful day feeling blessed Charles, and may
God's Grace be with you! Amen!
*** IMPORTANT NOTE: Please Read ***
Charles, Won't You Please find it in your heart to
Help Us with a Tithe or Contribution, so we may continue this
World-Wide Ministry for Jesus Christ? For without your caring
support it Will Be Impossible To Continue this Daily Ministry
& Bible Study. Also remember that GOD LOVES A
CHEERFUL GIVER. ( 2 CORINTHIANS 9:7 ) So Please
Help Us continue to plant the seeds of faith all over the World
each day. For, THEN BECAUSE OF THIS THE LORD YOUR
GOD WILL BLESS YOU IN ALL YOUR WORK AND EVERY-
THING YOU PUT YOUR HANDS TO. ( DEUTERONOMY 15:10 )
After all Charles, when you do God is using you to touch a very
large number of people World-Wide with the Hope and Love of
Jesus Christ. Amen!
