WHAT VOTERS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE PREMIER'S SALARY
This issue has not been mentioned during the campaign. To my
knowledge neither party has said they will make changes to New Brunswick's unique law that lets the Premier of this little province get two paycheques and be the highest paid Premier in the country.
There is a mention of a law by the liberals, but whether it will deal with this particular problem is not known.
Why I am bringing this up is that on various blogs there has been a
lot of erroneous information.
In fact, this view was even made by the editor of one of the province's major newspapers.
The view is that the 'second' salary is not paid for by New Brunswick Taxpayers but by 'donaters' to the party.
Although the media maintained that these donaters are 'public
knowledge' I have not been able to discover them.
This view is WRONG.
Every New Brunswick political party gets part of its funding from the New Brunswick government according to its representation.
So Public Accounts show that in 2005 the Conservative Party
recieved over $300,000 in funding from the government, while the
liberals recieved short of $300,000.
Clearly the 'extra' $70,000 comes from New Brunswick taxpayers. It
is possible that the conservative party has the salary earmarked from
sources that come from donations, that is not known, but the amount that taxpayers contribute easily covers this.
It is unfortunate that this issue was not part of the campaign.
Just a little less greed on the part of the Premier or Premier-elect would perhaps have people a little more charitably inclined towards either party.

In my opinion this is the most popular act of the music festival!!!
This guy is from Toronto and he plays the pan or steel drum. You should have seen the people watching him on the streets.
I congratulated the guy when he was done and he wondered why he wasn't allowed to play in the tent?
Who decides who plays in the tent anyway? If you're from Fredericton? Go on Queen Street and listen to this guy.
He's good!!!

HOW COME BERNARD LORD DIDN'T EXPLOIT THIS POOR GUY THIS TIME AROUND???
Best sausages in the City!!!!!!!
Different attitude in the Capital!!
If you look at these two candidates. Rick and Allison are just common folks trying to get elected by the citizens in this area.
Now you have Greg and Brad who can really communicate with the bureaucrats in the Capital. I mean this is a snobby City.
It should be very interesting to watch who's going to go out of the way to vote. If the Comon folks show up in big numbers? Greg and Brad could be in trouble.
All four are nice people but I'm just looking at the situation in a very snobby City!!!
