I DON'T......

I don’t feel like writing today so therefore you readers have a break from my straight forward mouth! Here’s an opinion from two different individual of their opinion on the issue of Dilaudid and VLT’S!

Here’s one -

I would like to examine the locations that are available to help in recovery of these addictions.
I'm aware that the city of Fredericton has an addiction centre within reach of the larger portion of that city for residential recovery and also for out-patient appointments on most addictions as well as being fairly handy to most bus routes.
An area that I am familiar with would be Saint John and this is to say the least a different story.
First there is no shelter that can be used for people who have lost everything do to VLT’S/cocaine/methadone/crack/or any such addiction that completely takes all and the detox centre as we know is very limited on the amount of allowable bed rest that can be provided.
As far as out-patient appointments that has always been a major problem since it's beginning as buses are very limited to that location being 3 times a day compared to 8-10 appointments a day
depending on length then there is the problem of getting a hold of the connections to get a bus pass at the very least to get you to the westside of
the city If you can see your way through that bureaucratic mess and manage to get one.
The next step would be to hopefully be one of the lucky ones to get your appointment near the incomming or outgoing bus so you don't have
to walk the Manawagonish road for 20-25 minutes plus the 15 minute walk along Manchester Road both ways and as we all know you will most likely
not be able to afford a taxi cab if you've lost everything Now that in itself presents it's own set of problems because none of the proceeds
from VLT’S goes to transportation to this location unless again you
manage to get lucky through some other government agency.
You may be involved with that might be able to pull some strings or get past that red tape and pull off a miracle as again the government does NOT give these centres any proceeds for a badly needed shuttle bus or something to that effect.

As for the Methadone clinic? Here’s another view

Its also sad to hear that they are only taken 20 new patients for Methadone when we know that there is so many that need help.
Since these pills are highly addictive (heroin) and were only given to patients who were dying we see what changes that the government made by allowing these pills to be prescribed to people in pain.
The Oxy-Contin pills should of NEVER been allowed to be prescribed for pain because there was too much risk in doing so.
We now have the outcome of this decision and its everywhere.
Big Cities are not the only ones with this burden and it makes one wonder why the government had allowed these legal heroin pills to be prescribed by Doctors that had no or very little training on Narcotics.
This was the verdict of the Robert Mailman inquiry and that was a shock to many addicts and their families to why it was allowed to ever happen this way.
We have seen what these pills have done to our society in a short 10 years and how much money that Pruda Pharma and the Government has made.
The help has been very slow coming for the money that was made on them. When we think of addicts , most think of a down and out person,
who in ignorance think that its the addicts fault, we are now seeing is not always their fault because it doesn't even take a week to be addicted
to these pills for some people.
We have Grandparents, Mothers, Fathers, Sons, Daughters, injured workers, people in accidents, who are now addicts and they need the voice of the people to help them and by helping them we will be helping our society and community.
A methadone clinic must open in downtown Saint John because this is where the major problem lies.

I mentioned it the other day but will ask again... Are we ever gonna find out who the White Collared Irving Employee is? Maybe a hint? That person should be commended on their efforts. I have read recently employees working for Google and Apple that have lost their jobs for doing similar things with blogs... That person must be driving the Irvings insane if they haven't already figured out who this person is.

Hi there Charles, I have listened to you at various times on CFBC's
Talk of the Town, and have agreed with most things that you have to say,
and decided to check out your web site. You speak out on what is
important to the average guy, mabey you dont make many friends with
politicians, or the large corporations (the Irvings for example) but I think you
probally have a lot of friends among the common people. We need more
people like you to try to make things better for the little guy(and
gal). You should think about going into politics, not with the Liberals,
Conservatives, or NDP, but start a grass roots party for the people. We
have more than enough politicians who are laweyers, business men, that
work for the rich, they don't know what it is like to be poor, they
don't know what it is like to stand in line at the food banks, or not have
enough to pay your electric bill, because you auto insurance is due,
and you need your vechicle to get to work. Anyway keep up the good work
Charles.

Charles I hope you're feeling O.K this is the first time there has been only a sampling on a weekday it' not like you I've gotten used to the variety of topics hope the energy returns!!! A quick comment on today's letters-It is so true that we have all these addictions in New Brunswick and no real system to handle them properly It's too bad we have to wait sooooo long to get a new health minister to put things back into proper perspective,Maybe Minister Robichaud should go back to school as a student and take at the very least a crash coarse on Health care.

I am ripping mad here in Saint John. Just look what that idiot Mayor did again.
He is allowing a 125 million tax break to the Irvings for the next
25 years. I am some glad that I no longer live in Saint John. Norm
MacFarlane was a reject in the last election and look at what he is doing to us now.
He doesn't even have 25 more years to live, that asshole.
I am getting pretty sick and tired of working in this Province and paying the shot for the idiots running the place for their leader the Irvings!
MacFarlane was really suited for the Lord team because he is the same as them, The rich gets richer and the poor are getting poorer and this government seems to be enjoying the pain that us New Brunswickers are going through.
I wonder what the people who voted MacFarlane in are thinking
now. What will this break do to our children down the road, its a real shame to come from Saint John!!!!!!!! They must be trying to drive everyone out of here so the Irvings can own all of Saint John.
Another thing that got me going was that I was in St Stephen on Sunday, there was a group of people talking at a store and they said that Irving just bought
alot of land there.
When is this government going to put a cap on what the Irvings can own here and make them pay the proper taxes for what they
do own. These people in power are costing us more then we can afford and are taking food from the babies mouths!

How it going Charlie

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I have visited your site a few times but there is so much reading that I never seem to get a lot done. *s* It looks like you are still going strong and are getting some good comments on your blog. I had voted on the Retalin poll but I usually just try to vote once so that it is more meaningful.

Any more news about Tim? How does he feel about after having time to think about the talk shows that he was on?

As I mentioned in one of my postings to your site that I admire him and you also for being brave enough to go on live. Perhaps it may be easier that trying to talk on the phone when you can not see who you are talking to.

Drop a note to let me know how things are going.

Oh! Hopefully I might be getting things stirred up in my neck of the woods with the government. I will let you know tomorrow if anything comes about or not. It has to do with the way a situation was handled during a harassment complaint.

Take care
