THE ROGERS TELEVISION TALK SHOW MELANSON LIVE IS NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!

Charles 04_07_05 077

Yes it’s true and you have heard it in this blog first!!!!

I feel bad about this because Dennis was a good host.

He’s been in New Brunswickers Families living rooms for the last four years.

I couldn’t get the whole story but Dennis told me that he’s looking forward towards different avenues in life!

What do you think?

Did you watch his show? Do you think it was time for a change? Did you enjoy the guy as a host?

Hey? This is the place to voice your opinion because the staff at Rogers are on my list.

I was always curious if the ratings of his show were large?

He was on Prime Time Television at 8:00pm!!!!

So? I’m asking again? What’s your views on this situation?

We need talk shows in this Province because we sure can’t go by the Irvings newspapers!

That’s for darn sure!

It sure would have been good to have a good bye show because I'm certain that many viewers would had have something to say.

But c'est la vie!

I wish Dennis Melanson the very best of luck and I thank him very much for the patience to listen to me during the last four years.

I might also add that I appeared on his show on two different occasions and it was a great way to spread the message of Ritalin to the public!

Good Bye Dennis!!! Bonne Chance mon ami et Merci Beaucoup!!!!

Hi Charles I met Mr. Denis Melanson a few times, and heard his broadcast many times. He is a genuinely down to earch person, who shares a lot of concerns about what is happening in the Community. I am certainly going to miss his program I wish he could stay on longer because I believe that we need a live voice that is from outside the Political arena and is not afraid to speak up on the issues that effect the Community and Society as a whole.

Denis I wish you all the very best, and all the good and wonderful things that life has to offer.

God bless,

I had heard rumblings about this situation, I think Mr. Melanson was simply TOO 'down to earth'. Take a look at Rogers stations in Ontario and you'll understand why they want him gone (although they may replace him), they want shrill hosts who have a definite point of view and a right wing ideology. They want to 'stir things up' yet not in any practical political way. If they do get a replacement it will be just like Ontario and most of the topics will be about Michael Jackson and american news items (just like Ontario). And once again another maritime cultural business will be a branch office of an Ontario corporation.

Yo Charles. Rogers Television here has made some bad decisions in the last little while. This is another one. Their line-up of shows appeals to a small audience. Melanson's show was the only one that stood apart. So, instead of fixing the crappy stuff they make a change to the flagship show. Bad decision.
There must be a Rogers drone who can take this station somewhere. This area has so much to offer as far as what to cover, yet they blow it with the same old stuff you can find on other channels. Who wants to see a local show that just mimics national programing on other channels. Do something that sets you apart, folks. Do it well. Make yourself a part of our community, not by shoving lame copies down our throats but by taking chances and appealing to an audience that apprciates local matters.
By the way, I looked on the Rogers Television web site and the person there to contact about this is Carey L. Smith at 462-3609.

Other hosts at Rogers like that of Voice of the Province suck up to the premier and ministers. Probably Melanson did not do that. Instead he invited guests like Tim Smith who do not have much use for premier and company. That must have not fit well with Rogers’s administrators and off he went. Did not watch the guy so do not know how good he was, however, he is a cab driver and must have that common touch. Rogers do suck up to the government of the day and this guy must have not fit in the scheme of things.

Bernard Lord blames every thing, which is wrong in N.B., on Frank McKenna but then to promote himself he goes all the way to Washington D.C. to meet him. He was asked what they discussed and here is Lord’s answer:

"He (Frank McKenna) did not offer me any tips and I did not offer him any tips. He asked me how things were going in New Brunswick and I said things are going well. We have been balancing our books, paying down debts, we have record low unemployment and record investments in education”.

What a rosy picture he is painting. Is he talking about N.B. or some imaginary place? Lord is also playing Prime Minister by delving into international politics. What a moron.

It was my comment that I removed. Once again, I must begin going over my comment before pasting it!

Here we go again?

I really appreciate the comment but lets try to concentrate on the issue of Melanson Live being cancel in this blog.

By the way? I agree with you 100%!!! I'll write about more on this issue during the weekend.

Frank must have felt very uncomfortable meeting with the Premier but he has a job to do.

Good idea to concentrate on Melanson but all these going ons. Lord says he is paying bills supposedly his travel bills too. On the back of poor racking in over $125 millions through VLTs alone. Thoughts went to Tim Smith after reading Lord’s quote. He is a joke. Now he is inviting Dick Cheney to Larry’s Gulch. What is this guy’s problem. He is so desperate to promote himself. Lord and Larry’s Gulch must be a big joke in Washington D.C. They must say ‘here come the guy with hooks and crooks’.

Charles, how is it hangin'?
Rogers Television could not be any lamer in its presentations. Like most places they don't have much money to play with, but they do have the opportunity to partner more in the community. How about showing some short films done by local artists?
Some stuff is too graphic and they can't air it, but there is some great stuff they could.
These films are already done and Rogers doesn't have to put any cash into them. All they have to do is clear some of the lame stuff to make way for real material.
I don't want to know how to paint a doily or how to hang a picture. That info I can find anywhere.
I want to know about what's happening here. Yes, they do interview top dog poltiticians and such but do get lost in that material. It swallows them and they love it too much. And it's easy to call up Chisholm Pothier and get the premier to come on. It's harder to take chances.
Guts, Rogers, show guts.
Take a camera crew to the homeless shelter for a few hours and interview the people there. Your producer may have to work to create a coherent presentation, but such work shows you care.
All I think you care about now, Rogers, is how to take a photo and where to hang a picture.
Fair comment?
Maybe not, but they are not impressing many people.

MY VIEW AS I SEE FIT!!
Like Irving,Like rogers Like all large corperate giants of the day Prophets become the order of the day,They'll all paint a different portrait of themselves through falce identifyables but their all slices from the same cake.I believe rogers is as selfserving and it's beginning to show I went to the Capital twice on an issue that effects all communities and this Province as a whole Rogers brags of (local matters) well I tend to disagree with this view considering VLT addiction effects every community in this Province(locally)from loss of life to loss of belongings to loss of sanity and disfuntion through a Government run Program for Prophet on the Principle of Addiction through Exploitation of which all media coverage that took place ie:ATV,GLOBAL,CBC,CTV,All Local Radio Stations Every level of News Print Within our Province The Telegraph Journal which gave an unmatched amount of publicity through a great team of jouralists who have a great deal of Local feelings on a(LOCALLY)damaging issue of Importance especially being Government run.I don't recall rogers making a (local)difference or even mentioning this issue other than Dennis Melanson taking an Interest as a compassionate person for this cause and many other issues that were of great concern to him and as far as Voice of the Province I got the feeling the questions had to be somewhat emty of prudance or directed toward a simplistic nature as not to offend the party in power I felt as though depending on what you were going to say had to be explained to them gentley or you may get an excuse as to why you were convieniently disconnected. Dennis I hope there will be an oppertunity of fortune for your voice down the road within the walls of this province as identifyable persons such as yourself are of great importance to the public being heard and were opinions of choice can be properly debated I know we need more avenues of debate and I am trying to get to a point in my life to become a voice for the public as well but this could not be a possibility without learning the ropes through persons sush as yourself and the comfort level provided through equal respect for one another. There is a reason for all things and maybe there will be better days for you yet to come Good Luck and may God bless you

Charles is doing a great job by spreading word about unfolding events in Fredericton and it is hoped that word is getting to those we need to know that how people feel.

Tim you have done outstanding job in spreading the word about the evils of VLTs. It is sad and unfortunate that Lord government did not get the message which is in keeping with the way it deals with other issues. Ignore them. There are simply too many issues where Lord government has turn blind eye and played deaf and it will pay the price next time around. Bernard Lord is completely out of touch.

It is good that you recognize the contributions of Telegraph Journal. It devoted its two major editorials to you and printed your letter as a guest columnist. Then numerous stories. They must be commended for that.

As far as Rogers are concerned they were never a media outlet. It may be good in providing cable services but that it is about it. Rest is of not much consequence and never paid much attention to their news programs.

Finally, Tim, lot of hopes are pinned on you. Keep up your struggle.

More talk shows needed in NB so that people can vent their frustration with current situation in NB.

I thank you very much for the kinds words and I'm certain Tim Smith is also thinking the same. The no money to be made in this hobby but it's a great way to share stories on different issues. Keep them coming and I almost forgot? I'm sertain that Dennis Melanson is also grateful! Merci!

One way to fix Rogers is cancel their cable and go with Bell Satelite, since we now do not have any local channels worth watching. Best wishes go to Dennis!
