Sounds like a case of-What’s good for he goose is good for the gander- Irving of course not wanting the competition- The government doing what they do best, bulls--t Joe public and at the same time privately kiss corporate ass and then the infamous, Oh but we're not involved- And finally the people have the right to say, hey if its ok to do it here then it should be all right to do it anywhere.
I myself am a believer of the third, if its ok to put LNG in Saint John and its all good, no fears of any kind according to Irving Corporation, City Council and both parties of this Province who also say that any other reasons for NOT possibly wanting LNG in Saint John is strictly (Fear Mongering!!)
If its as safe as they say it is then there should be no problems with wanting more than one plant in N.B. and or more than one LNG Plant anywhere along Maine coast,
As of course we have been assured by all levels of Government as well as the Irving Company our worries are unwarranted then I see no other reason then “competition” being the key ingredient of all further grievances toward other ventures in this industry
With that being the case then the Irving Company just has to lick It,s wounds and enjoy the tax break they managed to swindle right out from under our noses and get used to the idea that there are other companies out there that are in business for prophet as well. They are not and never will be the governing body of this Province and should except this as such and get back to running their many other scandalous enterprises and maybe reconsider putting a little of all that N.B. prophet into some worth while charities to show their appreciation for the many things that have been done for then in return. He must have splitting headache with that kind of split personality. He deservs it as he has given headache to all New Brunswickers through his double talk.
Mr. Lord is now threatening U.S. on NAFTA. He is saying either honour NAFTA or expect a fight. There is no doubt softwood lumber is important and it is important that U.S honour NAFTA but such international agreements come under federal jurisdiction and Lord is in no postition to make such threats. Besides annoying Americans he is annoying feds who should be doing all the talking on this issue. Someone needs to put Bernard Lord in his place and tell him that he is not the head of state. Not yet and God forbid he ever is.
In the past Lord tried to negotiate free trade. Will this guy ever grow up and mature? Serious doubts exist.
If waters at St.Andrews are that sensitive then they must watch out. It is the same body of water one is called Bay of Fundy and the other Passmaquody Bay. If waters are continuously polluted in Saint John that pollution will reach St.Andrews as well. It is absolutely too short-sighted on the part of Bernard Lord and other players involved. Bernard Lord has established himself as an idiot anyway. He is a lapdog to big business, Irvings and insurance companies included.
In St. Andrews there is a concern for quality of life and even whales and other marine aninmals. In Saint John given the existing pollution any additional pollution is greater danger to the health of the people in the area and yet there is no concern for that. Even animals are more important in case of St. Andrews compared to the people of Saint John. How this Lord fellow sleeps at night? Does his conscience bother him even a slightes bit???
