Um yeah, or maybe it is "a move to quiet the masses". On the other hand, maybe Rogers just wants established radio personalities on its new station, and it can afford to offer more money that little CFBC.

Rogers cannot be trusted. They tow the line for the party in power. They pulled the plug on broadcasting the House proceedings in cahoots with Bernie Lord. Lord wants people to know as little as possible as our outgoing auditor general pointed out.

CFBC.....FIX YOUR SIGNAL OR YOU WILL BE LOOSING MORE LSITENERS AND MORE BROADCASTERS.WE ARE TIRED OF LISTENING TO STATIC....IF I WANTED A A SHORTWAVE RADIO I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT ONE!!!!...........

HEY LISTENERS WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HOCKEY GANE FRIDAY NIGHT, WE COULDN'T HEAR IT........????

MJ you are right on the mark on Rogers. It is a lousy outfit. While ago I got computer connection from them. It was a blunder. May cable for T.V. was gone for quite a while and then they corrected it.To be on safe side I got rid of computer connection. Up front cost for satellite is high otherwise I will consider that. Then I watch too little t.v. anyway.

i dont understand why you guys get all paranoid. sometimes new things arent bad and i wish people would just accept things sometimes. honestly things arent always bad and we dont have to get all upset cause something changes im from ontario and rogers owns alot of the stations there and its all good there going to appeal to the public otherwise people wont listen. rogers in ontario is huge they own everything and everything is fine our world runs on a darwinist view survival of the fittest and rogers and irving are the fittest wouldnt you want the best?

IF CFBC wanted to hang on to their talent they should have done what the Radio group in Fredericton did when FRED-FM came on the air. All the staff got raises and extra vacation as an incentive to keep them. Guess what? Nobody jumped ship to go to FRED. I don't blame any of those who have left to go over to Rogers - better money and better benefits. Who can argue with that? Plus Rogers in their submission to the CRTC plans to have what may be the best staffed radio newsrooms in the province rivaling CBC. That's good news. Any competition to the Irving media is a plus in my book.

As far as local content goes, Rogers Television provides the most local content of anybody in broadcasting in NB - CBC included. We can argue whether it's great or not but it's mostly staffed by volunteers, average NBers not folks who are here from Toronto and gone tomorrow for a better offer as some broadcasters do. We get a New Brunswicker's in most cases and it's average people who you can walk up to on the street. Where else does Charles Leblanc get on the air as often? I don't love Rogers service as one writer mentioned as far as call centres go but the local television isn't bad and far better than Fundy ever was. Hopefully radio can do as well.

6:24 PM you are saying monopoly is good thing. Not many will agree with you. If you believe in free market then competition is very important. Rogers sucks when it comes to objectivity. Its radio programs are not going to be any better than Irving papers. That is not very good for democracy when information is so tainted.

Hey Spinks? Now you got me fighting with ya? My God? Is it catchy????? I'm usually pretty good continuing bloggling....lol..anyway....I got on the show because I'm one of the first ones to call in. But I must admit that at the end of the season, they did not return my call. This is very scary stuff! I let it known that I was going to complain to the C.R.T.C.! It should be on first call first on. If you begin to choose callers such as the Irvings choose colunminsts for their papers? Then we have a major problem!!!!

Blogger Charles LeBlanc said...

So? This is the reason I can't get CFBC in the Capital. As I told Rick the other day on the show. They should have CFBC on the information Highway? How much would that cost?

Spinks said...

Aw Charles you knew it was only a matter of time. Fighting with Spinks can only be a spectator sport for so long. LOL. Hard to say why they didn't put you on the air. I am waiting to hear you on Crosby Live (the new Melanson Live). I understand the first few shows actually won't be live but will be by October. Something about studio renovations which is why their new shows aren't in the studio yet.

Don't know about who was interviewed but my sources tell me a girl from CBC Fredericton was hired for the Rogers Radio position in Fredericton. They're putting someone in the legislature. I'm guessing she was a contract because not too many people would leave a full-time job with CBC for the private sector. As I've said here before CBC pays very well compared to the private sector. Stay tuned.

That's why I'm not a reporter. I'm a week behind and of course I'm biased. Thanks D. :)

Anonymous said...

It is good to hear that you admit being biased. That is understatement though. People have used much stronger words and surely you understand what those are.

Spinks said...

That's not the first time I've admitted I've had a bias, my friend. WE all have biases. My beef with some reporters is that they don't keep those biases in check. CBC as a whole is arguably the worst offender of that, although there are a few exceptions, IMHO.

Anonymous said...

If all keep their biases checekd then there will be a lot less problems in the world. However, it is unfair to blame CBC. CBC has the most objective reporting amongst the bunch and it may rub some the wrong way. With the strike one does not know what is going to happen anyway with CBC.

Once again 93 CFBC is off the air again this-morning. It would appear there won't be a talk show this-morning.

I hear they've been off the air today from the wee small hours of the morning.

A far as not trusting Rogers in one of the earlier comments, can the Public Trust any of the local broadcasting companies anymore :

IE: How many Saint John operations have anybody manning even their Local News Rooms during the evening or overnight hours to inform the Public if something wild and crazy or a Dangerous Situation Occurs.

Are the owners of CFBC { Maritime Broadcasting in Halifax } any better then the Irvings who own Country 94 or their sister station WAVE FM ?

Keep up the good work Charles with your site : You probably have more readers, than some of the local radio stations have as Listeners.

At least your site is always online, unlike trying to Depend anymore on some Radio Stations :>)

CFBC is off the air agin this morning. I'm 60 years old and grew up with that station. Dear dear, its a shame what its turned into

Anonymous said...

Great topic on talk of the town Charles, I think todays topic is The Sound Of Silence

Anonymous said...

if anybody has a ratings ballot, just mark off that you listen to another radio station, maybe this will make the owners of cfbc get a reliable operation on the air again.

i'm pretty sure the radio ratings are taking place.

better yet, why don't they just pull the plug, and place a sign over the cfbc call letters on union street " NO LONGER IN BUSINESS "

Spinks said...

Nothing new folks. MBS has been running things this way for at least 15 years. Why do you think all those staff members jumped at the chance to be interviewed by Rogers. Who wants to stay on a sinking ship?

Blogger Charles LeBlanc said...

Come on now....I will admit that CFBC needs to upgrade their station such as adding their site on the information Highway but beside that? It's a good station. We wouldn't wish to have all the Irving employees coming in this blog and write against CFBC wouldn't we????

Anonymous said...

It's now 1:35 in the port city and still no signal from CFBC as of yet???!

Anonymous said...

CHARLES : I think you should throw a party, CFBC just came back on at 1:38 pm

Spinks said...

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater jwmcq. I'm with you that Rogers call centres are some of the worst for service but I think the radio stations have hired some good people. Hopefully they can provide a good product.

Anonymous said...

Spinks, do you have to be apologist for everybody. Now Rogers. Just curious.

Spinks said...

Well "Spinks-hater" allow me the courtesy of satisfying your curiosity.

I hardly find it apologetic when I say their call centres are some of the worst to deal with so I don't know where you're coming from.

I simply choose not to pass judgement on a station which isn't even on the air yet. Simple as that.

Anonymous said...

Again you are giving yourself too much importance that someone hates you.

And you pass judgement on everything else including our outstanding new Governor General. Should you not wait for a while if you want to pass a judgement on such an august office. Or it bothers you that you she is a minority. And it is the fault of addicts when it comes to VLTs, and it is the fault of the parents when their children drink chocolate milk in school. Should I go on. For once follow your own advice. You have to give your stinking opinion on every issue and when someone differs with you then that person becomes a hater. There are few of us then if you did not notice. Too bad.

Spinks said...

Hmmm, apparently some time for clarity again.

Governor General might be fine but there were a lot of skeletons in the closet that Martin clearly didn't check out. And yes I do have a problem with someone that high up having dual citizenship. Heck, even France wants her to give up her French citizenship so I'm hardly alone on that.

I've never placed the blame 100% on gambling addicts when it comes to VLT's but they do have a level of responsibility. They're not robots and no one can tell them to put the first 25 cents in the machine. If they want help overcoming their addiction and will admit they have a problem, we as a society should help them. If they don't, there's nothing we can do except remove the temptation. I'm okay with that but I also know some will find their fix elsewhere.

And yeah, if kids drink chocolate milk in school that their parent's bought them, fault is a bit harsh, but it is the parent's responsibility.

I rest my case. You say you are not judgemental?

Spinks said...

Nope, opinion. As I've said I sign my name so that you can ignore my opinions if you like. Don't read them if that's your desire.

Anonymous said...

When you pass judgements left and right how can you be ignored? You are as anonymous as the rest.

Spinks said...

Like I said, your choice. Let's move on.

Anonymous said...

More on to what? More judgemental opinions from you??
