ACADIAN BUS LINE SHOULD CHANGE THEIR SLOGAN!!!

Picture 165

Charlie,

I thought that I would write to you on what happened to my brother on Sunday. He

He was invited to a Christmas party where he had worked last summer.

Picture 168

He is Cerebral Palsy and he had found himself that job last summer which was very good for him.

It got him out of the house and he did what he loves to do best, socialize!

Since this party was in Shediac, he had to take the bus from Saint John to Shediac because his Mom & Dad are still in that due to Dad's illness.

He arrived on time and had a ball at the party.

In the morning he visited with Mom and Dad before she dropped him off at the bus stop.

The bus should of left at 3 o'clock in the afternoon but it didn't because it broke down.

They had to wait until 9 o'clock before they boarded another bus that came
from Nova Scotia.

Picture 167

In all of that time the passengers were not even offered a sandwich.

They arrived in Saint John after 11'oclock and the only thing my brother had to eat besides his breakfast was a bag of chips that he had brought with him.

He's an very easy going and he was alright with it but where has customer service gone?

They were given nothing for their supper or not even a free ride for the future.

The Bus Line should change their slogan, it should read, IF WE DON'T GET YOU THERE ON TIME THEN TOUGH!

Yeah, they got a couple of real nasty guys working at the Saint John Acadien Lines Terminal too.
I left a bag on my bus from Moncton to Saint John recently, and I one hell of a time communicating with them, they're very rude.
You should send them an e-mail to the head person, they do have a website and you just click on the link. That's why I did. And I got an apology at least.

I said in my e-mail "How do these guys keep a job over there at the terminal they are so rude? Not people-persons at all?"

There's the perfectly trained New Brunswicker, no matter how bad things are or how bad service is, you 'learn to live with it'. No wonder nothing ever changes in New Brunswick.

This is not acceptable this day and age and things should change. Write a letter and send one to someone who is going to care because they could be put out of business at some point. Sometimes things go wrong but people need to be dealt with respect. It is not good enough to say "shit happens"!
Communicating with people is a start and make sure everyone is fine. The wait was definitely too long without some kind of compensation or service apology. Hurt them in the pocket book too; this should not happen without a consequences to this company. Tell this story until the change their service.

Charlie why don't you mention this incedent on talk of the town in Saint John where there main office is I'm sure that should raise a few brows and notice may be taken from there.

Sorry but it is true Quebec French people don't understand but no excuse how they treat people. As a NB french person who speaks more English than French I think the arrogance is the problem. In Canada all people should be treated to some degree the same but Quebec gets extras and that has always been; hopefully it changes. It is true even if no one says nothing.

Apparently someone needs to get their facts straight...

SMT did not sell out to Acadian Lines - SMT BOUGHT Acadian Lines from the Gillis Family in Halifax. They then rebranded the entire company, SMT-Acadian Lines-Nova Charter Service, as Acadian Lines to streamline the company.

Irving then sold the bus business to Montreal-based Orleans Express which bought most of the vehicles and some of the fixed assets and also kept the same employees.

They have established a head office in the Moncton Terminal and there hasn't been anything for a head office in Saint John since the early-90's when they moved SMT's corporate offices into the Midland Building in Dieppe.

So by now you've probably figured out that ranting about Acadian Lines to the Irvings is useless. The transaction was pretty well publicised, surprised that you missed it.

1. The fact that the guy has Cerebral Palsy has nothing to do with this situation! Excpt maybe he should not have been taveling by himself anyway.

2. Where would someone expect Acadian to get a sandwhich for all those passengers ! They do not have the licence to make food - they are a bus company. Do they want the bus driver with a loaf of bread and some peanut butter ?

3. Why did the passenger not have a lunch with him? Who gets on a bus or a airplane without bringing at least a small lunch.

4. "Unexceptable"... the passengers were lucky they got to St. John's at all that day. Most company would have cancelled the trip and had been within their rigths to do so. Then it would have been the passenger's resposibility to find lodgings that night. Of course Acadian would have honoured the tickets the next day.

5. As far as having busses laying around. When Orleans Express bought Acadian from Irving, they had to get rid of half of the eighty busses because they were not up to standards. All this was accomplished without significantly changing the level of service.

6. Remember, if a customer is put out and stressed or fustrated then the bus driver is aswell. Having been an operator in Calgary for 8 years, I know that the operators strees is always ten times that of the passengers.
