CHARLES EMAIL LETTER AGAINST ROGERS TELEVISION TO THE C.R.T.C!!!!
I was told that it would be a waste of time to send you this email but I feel that I must forward a complaint against Rogers Television in New Brunswick.
We don’t have too many talk shows in this Province.
We have CFBC Radio. This show is called – Talk of the Town.
This informative program has been around for over 20 years.
I might add that I have been a regular caller for over 10 years.
A few years back, Rogers Television came out with a program call –Melanson Live.
This talk show was on the air for four years.
I was also a regular caller.
I became good friend with the host – Dennis Melanson via-email.
I was calling from Saint John to the show which is located in Fredericton.
I might add that I was a live guest on Melanson Live on two different occasions.
Another talk show Rogers Television has on its agenda is called - Voice of the Province.
This show had politicians as their guests every Thursday. I would always be on of the first callers and my main issue was Ritalin.
Ritalin is a drug that is being over prescribed to our children in New Brunswick.
I took advantage of this show to spread the word of the way the Government are ignoring the issue of drugging our children.
One former host was Andrew Holland.
I also became good friend with this individual.
He left in the summer of 2003 but to this day I still remain good friend with the guy.
Changes were in the making for Rogers Television in New Brunswick but I never had the slit less clue that I would be included in those changes.
Fall arrived and the two talk shows in New Brunswick were all set to begin a new year.
One of the changes were Melanson Live.
Dennis was no longer the host and a new young kid in his early 20s was at the helm. His name is Rich Crosby.
At first, I didn’t bother calling because I wasn’t comfortable with the new host.
One evening, they were debating the issue of Autism.
I decided to call in with my view on this very emotional issue.
A talk show would take the first caller who first calls in. It’s only fair.
Myself, I always call minutes after the show airs so therefore there would be no excuse.
Rogers never return my call and I was concern.
I once again called the show during the second half of the show and they put me on hold.
I waited but seconds before I was going to go on the air. The producer Patrick Watt quickly intervened and I might add that he was very nice to me.
He told me that he didn’t know what was going on but the new host Rich Crosby have given the orders not to take my calls.
I found this very strange because I have never crossed that line when I’m on the air.
The Producer told me that I could still call the talk show - Voice of the Province the next evening.
I was confused but I decided to test the waters. I was told in the past that they were some people from Ontario who didn’t like my style but I just ignored
the stories.
I must tell you that I live in a Rooming house and I used the pay phone on many occasions to call these shows.
I talk to the guy who takes the calls and he told me that they can no longer accept calls from me because I’m on a pay phone.
I sorted laugh at that comment but I remain calm.
I walked down the hallway and use a home phone from a friend.
The guy was confused when I called.
He sounded surprised.
A woman quickly took over the phone and told me that I can leave my question on the Rogers viewer hotline.
I said - This is a joke right?
But she let it known that this wasn’t a joking matter.
My days of phoning Rogers talk shows were officially over.
The next morning, I phoned the talk show in Saint John and asked the host if I ever crossed that line that I wouldn’t be accepted as a caller?
You see? Rogers has a three seconds delay to cut off a caller who would be rude but That’s not enough time.
I guess Rogers Television don’t wish to spend the extra money for this devise.
My main concern is Rogers Television are denying certain group of people the right to speak out on issues.
If the poor cannot use a pay phone to call these shows? I do have a problem with this.
I might add that Rogers Television are truly pushing New Brunswickers patience with the new host Rich Crosby.
This kid announced a topic on the show.
Lets say? Breast Cancer would be the topic.
Before the show airs, he voices his opinion on different issues of the day but the public are not allowed to call him to counter his views because the show would be on breast Cancer.
This is not right!
I wish the C.R.T.C. to investigate Rogers Television of the matter they are denying New Brunswickers the right to speak out.
Especially the show- Voice of the Province.
They are screening the callers so the politicians will not have to explain their action to the audience.
Myself, at first it bothered me that I am denied my freedom of speech in Canada.
But I use my freedom of speech in a different way in today’s world. I am a blogger.
I had over 55,000 visitors to my site and it’s a great way to spread my message.
I will add this letter to my site so the readers including the staff of Rogers Television will know that I am not taking this issue likely.
Please investigate the matter that people from Ontario are denying our rights to speak out!
Merci Beaucoup!

Good luck with your letter to the C.R.T.C. against Rogers.
Their radio operations here in Saint John, Moncton and Halifax leave a lot to be desired as well.
If their supposed to be First with breaking local news, I'd hate to see who the Last Is :>)
Speaking of Rogers, Did you know??
Did you know that rogers cable is now going to cost you $1.50 more per month starting March 1st?
(( Please note that effective March 1st 2006, the regular monthly rate for your rogers cable services will be $43.98 up from $42.48 ))
This rate change is due to increased operational and programming costs.
This is a small sample of the write up that came in this month's bill from rogers cable.
Well if they're going to charge all New Brunswickers who have their cable 1.50 each per month, that would probably amount to quite a few Million per year.
I would certainly hope if they need the money for the above reasons givin on the bill,we as customers will see a major shake up with their cable package and services provided because something just doesn't add up??
As most programming on the local level is done through a majority of volanteers working for hours in the media and news sectors to gain camera time and experience.
As far as quality television I must agree with Mr.Leblanc and many many others in stating that channel ten local programming along with their slogan,"local matters" are two of the biggest jokes I have ever heard of in the cable business.
I will say this, if they are going to charge myself and many thousands of other subscribers in New Brunswickers 1.50 more per month to improve operations and programming costs I had damded well better see some major improvements to the local level of services of which we are in desperate need of as well as a couple of better paid programmers who at the least have a bit of depth and and creative thought when deciding what shows will make this years line up.
As it is I would actually like to have a discount on my bill just to put up with the unbelievible junk that fills my local channel.((Cable 10))
Why not submit the letter you sent to the CRTC, to this guy located either in Ottawa or in Hull Quebec.
He runs a national news headline site, and is very often monitored and read by some of the Country's Leading media organizations.
Here's the url Charles
http://www.bourque.com/
Time to show these companies from upper Canada and Ontario people, we ain't going to take their You Know What Anymore.
Start an online petition against Rogers.
http://www.petitiononline.com/petition.html
If Bourque puts this up on his page and the National Media runs with it, you might end up with a nice cushie job ( lol ) to keep you quiet and drop all :>)
No media organization with radio stations and such want that type of National Publicity.
Some of your readers can also protest by writing some of the Rogers Head Honchos located in Halifax, here are the e mail addresses
