Tanker's in the hotseat once again

Did you hear the joke about the MLA (Michael 'Tanker' Malley) who left the Conservative party to sit as an independent, then got the job of Speaker of the House. Then returned to his Conservative party? It's a real knee-slapper.

I hear the Trailer Park Boys are looking to expand their cast of characters: Julian, Ricky, Bubbles and Tanker! Tell me this, when Tanker left the Conservatives, they called it a defection; now that he's back in, do they call it an infection?

All kidding aside, it doesn't take a parliamentary scholar to see something is wrong in this legislature. Let's have an election and turn the page on this government.

Reader hopes Malley, Lord lose their jobs

All I can say is,I cannot believe our political system in New Brunswick. I worked most of my life as a nurse and if Lord had been the CEO and Tanker the employee they would both be fired for such behaviour. I certainly hope that the taxpayers are NOT going to re-elect (hire) these two in the next election. Your actions are unacceptable.

Tanker, you are not worried about the veterans and the seniors who are in nursing homes who cannot go to the toilet when they need to; or that they can only have one bath per week; or that they have cold food; or that they stay in bed two days at a time; or that they only have 2.6 hours of care instead of the 3.5 that they really need. It is very evident that Tanker and Lord only care about themselves.

I wish I had the power to fire you both. The people of this province will do it for me soon.

Michael Malley said to be a true politician

Well I take back all the nice things I said about Michael 'Tanker' Malley after he crossed the floor and became an independent rather than putting up with Mr. Moncton and all of his hot air and broken promises.

I thought it was good that Tanker stood up to Bernie Lord and showed him that the people of our province are sick of his government.

Yet on the brink of a provincial election being called due to the Conservatives only holding a minority, and of course the chance of Tanker not being elected back in and thus not getting his pension, he crosses the floor once again to join the ranks of the same party he criticized less than two months ago. Was it to keep the inevitable from happening - an election?

Oh but again he whined loudly enough and kind of got what he wanted. He may not have gotten a minister's position but he is speaker of the house. Probably just as good if not better than a minister's job.

I have lost all respect for Tanker Malley and the Conservatives in New Brunswick. Maybe after Tanker loses his seat when the Liberals sweep in the next election (like they did in 1987) he can go back to driving a school bus. Because he has just proven he is nothing but a sellout.

He isn't concerned for the best interests of his constituents, but rather is only concerned with filling his own pockets with higher pay for less work. I guess in a sense he is a true politician.

LEGISLATURE ANTICS BRING SHAME TO N.B.

I'm writing about what I witnessed in the legislature on April 13th. To my
disbelief, Tanker Malley stood up in the house and announced that he was once
again back in the Tory caucus.

When Mr. Malley sat as an Independent, Premier Lord said he would not allow his
integrity to be compromised by anyone or allow anyone hold him or his
government hostage. Premier Lord also said that he would never let Tanker
Malley back in caucus.

I guess Abel LeBlanc spoke the truth in his letter to the editor - and the
Tories had the gall to demand Mr. LeBlanc apologize. I hope the people see how
bad this government really is. It is truly a sham what we are seeing this
legislature. We must be the laughing stock of the country.

If the premier is any kind of a leader, take your wonderful budget to the
people of New Brunswick. What are you afraid of? I, for one, can't wait to go
to the polls.

Malley, Lord are the ones who should be apologizing

TOM YOUNG
THE LAUNDRY LIST

Can you imagine the Speaker of the New Brunswick Legislature calling on a
member of the legislature to apologize for writing what the majority of New
Brunswickers think about the Lord-Malley debacle? Saint John Lancaster MLA Abel
LeBlanc wrote a letter to the editor of this newspaper criticizing Michael
(Super Tanker) Malley for the way in which he became the Speaker of the House.
It was decided that some of the comments in the letter were disrespectful of
the Speaker and there were a number of options including being expelled from
the house that could have been levied against Mr. LeBlanc. He was forced,
against his better judgment I'm sure, to stand in the house and issue an
apology, an apology that should have come from the Speaker. It occurs to me
that Mr. Malley owes an apology to Fredericton lawyer Cleveland Allaby for
dragging his name through the mud. He owes an apology to a woman named Judy for
dragging her name through the mud. And he owes an apology to his constituents
for his behaviour in both leaving the Conservative party and then for the way
he came crawling back. For him to say it's a better way to serve his
constituents simply isn't true and I'm sure that they will see through it when
the next provincial election is called. Premier Bernard Lord owes an apology to
the 750,000 people of this province. Both the premier's actions and Mr.
Malley's actions are what bring shame to the New Brunswick Legislature and make
it the laughing stock of provincial legislatures all across the country.
