I can't comment on Spinks, but I think Charles' comments are way down. It seems that way anyway. But Charles says 350 hits a day on his blog. Wow! I guess hardly any of those citizens wish to leave a comment. Which is up to them, I know. But the comments were always so interesting, now there's hardly any.
The election sparked a lot of interest in the blogs without a doubt.
The ongoing interest in the blogs depends on the events of the day and what the blogger is writing about. However to guage a blog's interest by the number of comments is inaccurate. Very few people who visit comment at all. Most just drop by. Similar to a newspaper in which most readers (Charles excluded) never write a letter to the editor. There seems to be a bit more interactivity with the blogs than the paper but most visitors are voyeurs. I think Charles blog still garners a lot of interest and he remains the king of blogging in N.B. He's spawned who knows how many blogs (yours truly included) so he has had an impact and continues to do so.

Swiss officials said on Monday that the move had been challenged by Canada – one of the largest exporters of asbestos – and Kyrgyzstan, and could be shelved for at least another year.
Representatives from more than 100 governments are in Geneva this week to assess progress on the Rotterdam Convention, which regulates the import and export of hazardous chemicals and pesticides.
One of the main goals of the conference is to see chrysotile asbestos, which accounts for around 94 per cent of global asbestos consumption, added to the convention's list of substances carrying health or environmental risks. This needs the approval of all parties to the treaty.
But according to Thomas Kolly, head of international affairs at the Swiss environment office, efforts to add the substance to the Rotterdam list have run into trouble.
He told swissinfo that on the opening day of the conference Canada and Kyrgyzstan had challenged the move on a legal technicality. He said their opposition was based on "pure economic interests".
"Canada has made it very clear that it is opposed to including chrysotile asbestos on the list for the moment," said Kolly.
"It is unlikely that we will reach a successful conclusion this week in Geneva and that would be a disappointment," he added.
According to the Geneva-based World Health Organization, at least 90,000 people die from asbestos-related diseases, such as lung cancer and mesothelioma, every year.
Keep in mind it is a conservative party in power. This is recent news, not old news. That means the Liberal Conservative Party is doing pretty much the same thing.
Incidentally, there are numerous websites with details on this, just type Canada and Asbestos into your browser. If you ever thought Canada was one of the good guys you're in for a surprise.
You say that Prime Minister Chretien has every right to call Mr. Lagos and make Canada's case for asbestos. He may have every right to call Mr. Lagos, but he has no authority, moral or otherwise, to promote the use of a deadly material in the name of Canada. And Chileans have every right to protest his attempt to do so.
Asbestos is particularly deadly in underdeveloped countries where there are not the same protections for workers who use asbestos in factories as there are here. In countries such as India or throughout Latin America there is, more often than not, no ventilation, no respirators and no other protective equipment. These workers have died and are continuing to die in the tens of thousands.
Surely, we as Canadians have a responsibility to stop exporting this deadly substance to those who cannot protect themselves.
Yours truly,

I'm down for 50,000 of those. LOL.
Spinks? I meant to asks ya? Where's your counter?
Nbpolitics and myself I believe are the only ones who has a counter.
How come you don't have one so we can see what's going on in your site?
I noticed the hits are down a little in both blogs.
In my case? I no longer can send out an updates to the people on my list so therefore it's up to the reader to come in this blog.
During the weekend it goes way done but during the week it average close to 350 visitors per day.
Make your counter public Spinks so we can get a feeling what's the traffic in the blogs.

I think the old format (linking to rest of story) allowed for easier commenting. Now you have to scroll a lot (a lot!) to check back on old stories.
