Saint Johners are in deep trouble!!!! There's no place to vent. No place to tell the public where to meet for a meeting!!! The Irvings will not print critical letters of the pipeline or any issues which involved the Irvings!

Our Mayor suddenly got a change of heart and told Saint Johners that the Pipe will go ahead!!!

I also heard the citizens are going to be forced out from of the South End therefore making it a huge industrial area for the Irvings!

Yes, it is truly over for Saint Johners!!! There absolutely no way to organize. The Irvings will not print stories or letters on these issues.

Coffee shop and bars will not do it!!!

You believe the air is bad in Saint John these days? Wait till the Irvings have total control of the City!

...AND GUESS WHAT???? THEY DON’T HAVE TO PAY ANY TAXES!!!!!

Lower your head!!!! IT’s over for Saint Johners!!!!!

It’s all part of the final solution for the Irvings!

Freedom of speech is dead in Saint John! The only place left is blogging!!!!!

After my trial on November 20th? This might also be silent!!!

Emera shows Saint John the money

Saint John council endorsed the Rockwood Park route for a natural gas pipeline following a promise from the pipeline company Emera of a $5.35-million community benefits package.

The vote came at a special meeting of council Thursday night. Council originally opposed the route, and had intended to be official interveners in National Energy Board hearings scheduled to begin next week.

The city will now withdraw from the hearings.

But council members say their concerns about safety have been addressed. Two of the three councillors who voted against the proposal praised the pipeline company's community spirit.

Coun. Glen Tait says the financial package will help the city in the long run.

"I can get $5.35 million for the city and $750,000 in a year in taxes. I'm going to take it."

Emera president Robin McAdam says most of the $5.35 million will go towards park improvements and maintenance, improved fire training and safety programs.

Several councillors, including Mayor Norm McFarlane, were impressed by the fact that the company's offer was not conditional on the city's support for the pipeline route through the park.

"If they had of said, 'If you don't support us you don't get the money.' [That would have been different] but that's not what they said."

The benefits package from Emera is, however, dependent on receiving regulatory approval in the hearings, which start Monday.

The transition from summer to fall is filled with change, we all know it, embrace it and some of us love it.

This fall, there was an extra special change in Saint John, Rick was finally fired. I felt as though Saint Johners had finally won out over a key figure in the Axis of Evil.

I raised more than one drink celebrating his demise and will probably raise a few this weekend just because you reminded me of the big win for SJ.

Charles you ask people to hold off their 'nasty comments' but that is the only thing you do on your blog...grow up and turn that frown upside down; raise a glass for Saint John!

Well as I said before, the tracks are still in at Station St. We should be shipping the "mare" and his henchmen out by rail. This "mare" would sell his mother and wife for a small price if it made him look good. God knows he has sold his kids along with ours down the river. East Saint Johners will be selling their homes for a dollar by this time next year.
P.S. I didn't spell "Mare" wrong, look it up. (MARE--a female hores or donkey.) Also look up "mare's-nest" this also fits

Charles :

Do you know if there's any truth to the story, of Bruce Court having a Daughter that works for an " Irving Company in Moncton " ?

A printing comapny I was told.

I heard from somebody that's why he's be so quiet and low profile lately ?

He would have made a good MLA had he been elected.

I believed it all along, I am not an Irving Supporter, but I live in Saint John, and I agree with the above comment. I knew the pipeline would be a-go.
I'm around town a lot because I live right downtown and the word on the street that I am hearing a lot now is that Charles LeBlanc was the only smart one of all of us, because he bailed out of Saint John early and moved to Fredericton. Sure, he might be in a little old room and not have much money, but at least he's going to be breathing clean air. I'll be leaving myself for Fredericton in 2007 and that is a fact. And no, I'm not on welfare, I have a good job here, but folks, I will be pulling up my roots and leaving because of the pollution.
My boss already knows I will be leaving and I will seek lesser employment, if I have to, in Fredericton where there is no industry to speak of.
So I just wanted Charles to know, we read about you in the paper today. Bravo to you and I hope what you're saying is not true, that you won't be shut down from your blog.
You are right in everything you are saying, Saint John has no voice now.
This is a very sorry city and is only going to get worse.
I honestly am scared, I cannot take all my friends with me, just my family.
I haven't even found an apt. yet in Fredericton, But I'm going to start looking now before the rush gets on.

Being that the city wasn't sending an intervenor anyway, what does it matter that they now support the route?

TO THE ABOVE COMMENT FROM Irving Supporter

Yeah you sure sound like an Irving supporter as long as the pipe lines don't go through your prissy back yard in quispamsis. Typical mucky mucks.

No Amanda, I'm not a Mucky Muck, I'm just glad it's going through Most Of Saint John and not out here in Heaven Land that's all!

The $5.35 million amounts to $2.89 for every person over 25 years. Not much to get excited over. They sold us out and the bottom line a 30 inch pipe in our back yard and city park is not necessary ; go out to the Bay and leave citizens alone. Respect for people is no longer a value we can have. Greed for Billionaires and foreigners!

The pipeline was going through Rockwood Park since the day Numb Norm gazed lovingly into kenneth's eyes and saw that IOL couldn't afford to pay their taxes. Everything since is just smoke and mirrors. Where was Glen Tate when he could have had $5million a year from the LNG plant...I guess that money isn't the same. The bottom line is that when you live in NB (north america's biggest company town) you had best keep youre nose clean and your head down or you'll wind up like Talk of the Town. I really liked the not so subtle combination of intimidation, threats and bribes that filled the local "newspaper"
Praise be to Numb Norm, Bob Manning and common council...loyal servants of the empire

Now we know what it takes to bribe Saint John council.

There are more strings attached then are made public, sickening to put this on the backs of people who have little power or say.

Remember who brought this in our city and stop having short term memory and wake up!
Gifts are coming but they are are just like quarters to the Billionaires. Clarity; these endowments are held with fine print! Legally we have to do what they want.
