If you wish to write lies? Don't be a coward!!! Write your name and email in the comment section.

If you wish to remain a coward? Do me a favour??? Leave this blog and don't let that information Highway door hit you on the head on your way out!

Why don't you cowards use a nick or username? It would be nice to have a nick to those idiotic comments.

Merci!

Holly cow Charles you sound a little upset. Can you post the comment so that we can see what this person said.

I for one congrats Tim on his memorial and for standing up for what he beleives in. I drove by to see what was going on and I saw him out there and I saw you standing accross the road. Nice to see that you stayed out of trouble and was giving support to Tim.

But one thing I didn't like was when I read in your blog about how you tried to take over a conversation that Tim was having with someone. That is just rude and I am glad that Tim told you to not do that. Plus trying to take credit for the no VLT on Sunday issue on the radio wasn't right. Don't steal peoples ideas or comments use your own, you have lots, and they are good ones.

Plus one last thing don't try to be in the limelight all the time or try to put your nose in other people's business or conversations (like at the court house with the greaving familly members), it is just rude and not needed. One last thing don't turn into the Irving news editors and screen all comments, post them let people have their freedom of speach. You have always posted my comments and I hope you do that to everybody else.

Anyway Charles just some friendly advise and keep up the blogging as I enjoy reading what you have to say during my non paid lunch hour.

One of your friendly anonymous readers and commenters LOL!

That was the comment. 1:46 PM said that I was standing across the streets and other stuff which is not true. I was on the ground and beside Tim the whole time.

All lies.....

Hi Charles,

It's me 1:46pm again. I am a fan of your blog and I am not lying. When I drove by you were accross the street by the art galary with your camera. Pictures on this blog site proves that.

I take great offence in your comment saying that I am the one that lied and that I am the one who is the coward liar because I am not. I wish to not post my name and I would love for you to respect that.

I am a fan, wait let me say that again, I was a fan because you just insulted me by calling me a coward liar when I am not. I have always supported you. Hey I actually donated to your site $10. Well biggest mistake I have ever done. As you said I am leaving this blog and I encourage other people to do the same as you are starting to insult inocent people. You are just a big bully.

And you know what I hope that when I slam the information highway door that it falls off its hindges and falls on you.

Why not let Tim verify that you did stand next to him on the grounds of the legislature whole time. Otherwise it is your word against others. Just clear the air.

That's funny??? I never got that 10 bucks.

I was standing near Tim Smith most of the time and I was all over the place.

Enjoy your Irving's papers!!!

Bye bye!!!

Charlie you did have to go over there a couple of times to use the lou as well as get a screwdriver to fix the sign, Are you sure you didn't happen to be taking a couple of pics before you came back over to the other side?

Sounds like you might have jumped the gun there just a tad.

I guess Elton John was right my boy when he said,

"Sorry seems to be the hardest word"

Besides I don't think this sort of penny annie bickering will help you or tour causes but will only take from the importance of the issues before us.

How come there are no pictures of you on the ground of the legislature. You take pictures of yourself everywhere. You have no proof.

when I drove by, I saw Charles right beside Tim, why is this such a big deal anyways.

Some people stay on this site all day long!!!

Come on people!!! Give a life!!!!

"..when I drove by, I saw Charles right beside Tim.." Not on the grounds of the legislature though.

Dude, you want people at your site, how often do you see Irvings put on their front page-"Don't like it, stop buying the paper". It's pretty much a given, but they don't advertise it! Why in heavens name would you call anonymous posters, who contribute about 50% of the comments "cowards". Yes, it may be cowardly, but it is New Brunswick, a small province where people have a hard enough time making a living.

To start insulting commentors is hardly a smart move for a guy who basically gets by due to public sympathy. As somebody above mentioned, its not always about you, often many of the things you get away with are helped by people who have ties and conversations with people in authority. You aren't alone in this, and you are making as much a big deal out of this as any poster. All somebody said was that they saw you across the street. You admitted that you went across the street so all you have to do is say that you were with Tim except for a couple of minutes.

Signed, a cowardly anonymous

Yeah...you're right!!! I received a comment this morning saying that I stayed across the street all day.

I didn't print the comment.

This guy wrote back being very upset that I didn't print his comment.

I could have traced the individual but didn't bother.

ok....you people fight among eacj other on this foolish issue. I'm going to keep on blogging!

This is what separates myself and other bloggers.

I don't stay in one blog and fight with the readers.

I'm going blogging!!!!

ENOUGH SAID!!!!

I don't agree with your strategy of screening comments. You should post them possitive or negative.

You are constantly saying that the senate should investigate the Irving papers for being media bullies. You are doing the same thing with your blog site.

Anonymous said...

How would you trace the guy?

Anonymous said...

You can get a site meter that lists the time you visit, your IP address, what operating system you use and a general idea of where the person is.

However, it's not completely accurate as I've had my IP come up saying Bristol NB, Fredericton, Saint John" etc. I'm not even close to any of those places.

Unless the user/commenter violates some sort of a law, I don't think Charles could find out much more than that. At least not without spending a pretty penny.

And as far as anonimity...that's everyone's right. It's true, that if you screen your comments, then you're no better than the papers whom you criticize.

you are correct to a certain extent. PPPOE high speed like Aliant is not accurate to finding the location of users because it uses dynamic IP address asigning, and you get the first available IP no matter where that number is asigned in the province. you would need a court order etc from the ISP to get that info. ISP's like Rogers however are much more accurate because you have a static IP that never changes and does give a fair amount of info as far as location etc. But as far as the actual owner of that IP, again court order is the only way.

That's absurd. So if one person sends hundreds of comments all with filthy language and threats then that should be printed? Of course not, so clearly its a grey area. Irving papers have stated that they will only print one letter per author and per issue per month. So if Charles simply allowed more than one then he'd still be better than the Irving press. Instead, Charles asks that a very few rules be observed, which is far far better than Irvings.
