While chatting with the woman at the exit door, many people walked by and the woman would say in a very polite way - Have a Good evening . . .

These individuals never return the fine gesture.

Ok . . . it’s up to them if they wish to give money to the group but they could have return the polite gesture by saying - You also have a Good evening.

I just couldn’t believe the rude snobbish attitude I was witnessing.

I told the woman - Sh@T!!! This really makes me angry!! I better get out of here before I tell off these snobby bureaucrats.

Where they bureaucrats? Of course they were because you could tell by the way they were walking.

Spin straight up and nose in the air.

Have you tried walking that way? It’s a very difficult task.

It takes generations of bureaucratic gene to walk that way!!..lol...

I was ready to leave until I noticed someone arriving in the parking lot.

Just like the paparazzi Blogger that I am.

I quickly went for my camera. The guy noticed me and the young girl collecting money.

IMG_5416IMG_5417IMG_5418

I shouted - HERE WE GO!!! LETS SEE WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN HERE????

The guy shouted back- THIS IS PURE BLACKMAIL!!!!

IMG_5419IMG_5420

I just click the camera away.

He pulled out his wallet and gave the young girl ten bucks. The young girl had a big smile on her face.

IMG_5421IMG_5422

They told me this was the biggest donation they received all day. They didn’t know the individual.

I told them that it was the Chief of Staff of Premier Shawn Graham - Bernard Theriault.

I guess he didn’t wish to be called a cheapskate in my blog...lol....I found the episode funny.

Thank God that I was there. This group was ten bucks richer!!!...lol

Panhandlers often try to engage you in conversation, to make it harder for you to say no. A lot of people, myself included, don't go for it, because we're aware they are trying to manipulate us.

Also, I won't give money to people who hover outside places where people have cash in hand, like Tim's or the liquor store or a bank machine. I find that intimidating, so I don't want to encourage it.

It's not about being snobby, or unChristian, or ungenerous.

You are saying that this man was rude? The real rude person here is you calling him names like that and making fun of him. You are the rudest person in Fredericton. I thought you were getting better with your rude comments and inappropriate picture taking and I even told you that you did a good job with the tourist from Quebec this morning and now you pull this.

I hope that man sees this blog and sues you.

Man I thought you were changing your ways but I guess I was wrong. Once a rude ignorant person always one hen Charles?

You have got to be kidding me. I cannot believe what I just read - based on how they walk - this is the DUMBEST thing I have EVER HEARD. This solidifies your place among the not so intelligent of our race. I am laughing out loud as I write this. AND, to stand there and harass people because they did not speak - SO WHAT - it's their choice. This is way too much for me.

Thats funny and sad. Its great to get ten more bucks any way possible, but its tiring to see you picking on everybody as bureaucrats. If they saw you there they probably wouldn't have wanted to stop just because its you, and may not have said hello just because you were there. When you talk like that all you do is show your critics that you are irresponsible and out of control.

I'm a civil servant. Work in an office, wear a tie, etc. I'm not a high profile guy, and I like it that way.

When I'm walking in town, I keep my eyes open for Charles. If I see him, I get out of there, because I have no desire to see myself on the web.

Seriously, Charles, I wish you would stop taking and posting pics of people without their permission. Politicians and celebrities are fair game, but the rest of us just wanna live our lives.

To be fair, Charles is poor and the blog originally was meant for the poor and Charles has many fans there. The middle class doesn't do anything for the poor, welfare is the lowest in Canada, and roomers and boarders still don't have rights (I mean politically, people can be generous with donations, however, there are few political groups lobbying for them).

So why exactly should Charles or the poor care about the rights of people to not have their picture taken? In a sense it is class warfare. However, the middle class has politicians and police who shuffle the poor out of sight, and the poor have Charles to give some measure of harassment.

That's not to condone it, just explain it. Charles got very little political support from people when he was banned and arrested (again, political support, lots of people privately criticized it and supported him), so from his view, why should he care because some people have a little bit of inconvenience?

However, as strategy I think its a mistake. There's an apocryphal story of Machiavelli on his deathbed when the priest asks if he is prepared to accept christ and reject satan. Machiavelli supposedly said "this is no time to be making new enemies".

Any political stance will get you enemies Charles, you don't need to conjure up ways to get more. Politics is all about support, your ban and petition were ignored because the liberals take one look at your blog and see the animosity and know that they won't pay any political price for keeping you out.

Fredericton is a bureaucratic town, and that doesn't necessarily mean stuck up and evil, so if you go around purposely pissing off the main segment of the voting population, you can't be surprised when your ban isn't lifted and you get marginalized by the liberal party.

Charles does what he does and says what Charles says for Charles. There may have been I time when he cared about issues but that time has long since past. He can't even post a few pictures to call attention to a charity without making himself the main attraction. Its not necessary anonymous 6:31 to keep telling us all what Charles stands for, we can tell for ourselves.

Obviously you can't, and 'just passing' never tires of giving his opinion over and over and over and over, so others should be allowed to as well. It hasn't been that long since the UNB forestry protest, and just the other day we saw several posts on ritalin, but Charles admitted thats he's tired of issues and like other bloggers needs a break. And in 'covering' this charity he's not 'in the middle', he's covering what he sees, unfortunately it his 'his view' which many have a problem with (me included).

And its no surprise, Charles is at the point where he's no plainly disgusted with the liberal party and so sees no difference between the two parties in what is a two party system. So covering 'issues' would seem to be a complete waste of time if you can't actually do something about them. I suspect that's why there is so much animosity towards 'bureaucrats', like a poor kid throwing a rock at a mercedes in frustration. That's what happens when people get marginalized, they use what little 'power' they have any way they can.

But of course we only hear from the complainers here, and obviously there are lots of people that have no problem with Charles, they signed his petition and routinely talk to him and pose for him, so I guess we can't be surprised that Charles doesn't change his behaviour based on the three or four people here who complain about it, especially since they seem to complain about him no matter what he does.

the bureaucrats and politicians are the ones who keep the poor, poor and ignorant, ignorant! Dont want the surfs gettin uppity now do ya! People shouldnt pay any mind to charles and his blog if ya dont like your picture being taken but at least you can rag him out on his blog! Try going after a Irving Empire Newspaper and give a piece of your mind and see how far you get even when they put a error in it! Charles I salute you even if your sometimes off track at least you try to make a difference! Your just a blogger with ideas not a journalist chasing a paycheck!

You know what anonymous 9:38 you spend more time telling us what Charles is thinking than Charles does himself. How about you start calling your self "Little Charles" in stead of anonymous? Or are you just one of his spin doctors? As to my opinion, I just type them I don't print them here so I guess you can always just ask Charles to not post them. But wait, why not just tell us all why Charles does post them...that is what you do best after all. As to suggesting that you only here from the complainers here...well who's fault that?...Or have you yet another excuse?

Anonymous said...

I didn't say what he was thinking, I have no idea what he's thinking unless he says so. Just look two posts up for exactly what I was talking about, there are large numbers of people who couldn't care less about the petty complaints of having your picture taken. Imagine being poor, its a hell of a lot more inconvenient than having your picture taken.

But for better or worse Charles is part of the 'mainstream media' now, even if he isn't mainstream, so the blog deserves the same kind of analysis as the CBC or Irving. Of course lots of people don't like that, because it makes him seem legitimate and not 'just a kook'. The poster above can call it whatever he wants. It's obvious why Charles posts comments that are insults, because he has at least some genuine concern for free speech and wants to encourage it as much as possible. I would never ask him to censor the letters like the above poster, they always offer something to dispute, which is what a free press is all about.

Lets see, you start out with "I didn't say what he was thinking, I have no idea what he's thinking unless he says so" Then just one paragraph later it's "It's obvious why Charles posts comments that are insults, because he has at least some genuine concern for free speech and wants to encourage it as much as possible". Perhaps you might profit from reading your own work. But then again anyone that would consider this place "mainstream" might well be excused for their own irrational remarks. They have bigger problems than just short term memory loss.
