SPIN STORY... Lets make this work.

Lets try this out... Charles and I recieved this comment yesterday on the respective post. We both think it has merit and want to figure out a way to capitalize on its usefulness...

The anonymous comment in this post reminds me of this quote by Henry Ford (I think):

Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.
This is what we need to do...

Quoting Anonymous "Charles you got to figure out a way of bringing it across to the readers that they should take advantage of this terrific website and with It’s great array of topics and titles to make it their own, remind them the numbers don't lie your getting exceptional amounts of hits but if their going to take the time to type in the website please take a moment to leave a view or comment on any of the variety of topics it would be appreciated immensely as spin-offs from other comments is were response seem to give a wider view of the overall, maybe wcie to write it in a way that might generate better interest as the most varitized and modern maritime website which is improving everyday! Good Luck!! hey you must admit it has come along way!!"

We think that spinning some of the comments into fullposts that can be commented on is a great idea. We will try this out in a number of ways but one we would like to try out initially and see how it works is this...

With your comment that you leave on any post, include either at the end or beginning the words "SPIN STORY" in capitalized form and we will then create a post on the main page for people to comment freely and anonymously with. I think this best suits the format of this site.

As an example below is two comments including the same text, the first one is a general comment and the second is a comment but the emphasis or topic will be spun to the homepage in hopes that meaningful discussion can be create around it.

Post 1.
Charles what a great post today... I agree that the LNG deal should never have proceeded without the proper documentation and administrative protocols being followed. I feel that the deals inherent problems are from bureaucratic not elected official beginnings though.

Post 2.

Hope its clear and helps out. Give it a try and see the feedback you can generate on a subject or topic that maybe we looked at but didn't discuss or realize the real value of. If this site is going to fleurish than we are going to need the help of New Brunswicks voice and that includes you. We look forward to your contributions...

Whatever your spin may be keep few facts in mind that some things cannot be changed directly by public. Unless you want to take law into your own hands which is not a good idea.

A business is in the business of making money and profit. That is what they will try to do and that is what Irvings are doing. Also businessmen/women are not elected and hence you cannot get rid of them or change their ways that easy.

Bureaucrats/civil servants are appointed and not elected. You cannot do much about removing them from their position.

Who can do it for you? That is to change the undesirable business practices and too much profiteering. And who can remove corrupt bureaucrats from their positions. It is called government we elect for that purpose. That is the essential part of the mandate of an elected government.

However, if that government aids the business for more profiteering and takes orders from the big business and the corrupt bureaucrats then it has lost its purpose and mandate. And governments are the ones we can change when they do lose their purpose and mandate. Through election.

Unfortunately our NB government is exactly that: giving millions to big business: Irving (grants and tax breaks) Molson, and free rein to Insurance companies. Here is a government which was elected to look after our, the public’s, interest and instead it has chosen to ignore the public and is looking after the interest of big business.

It also looks that it is a government which is on automatic pilot, bureaucrats are running the government and not the elected politicians who were elected to do so – who are supposed to do the piloting. Moreover there is too much financial mismanagement including Orimulsion disaster. All signs are that this government has lost its purpose and mandate. And that is something we can change through collective effort.

What amazes me is the story in the paper this morning with Lord having the nerve to say the liberals should have to pay for their scam well he's one to talk isn't it ironic that the people have been screaming that exact same sentament about him and his crew and also this still goes to show the only time he wants to open his mouth is for self interest and to belittle anybody BUT himself how about making a public appearance or public statement on behave of the voters that put him in office with some good news that effects us here at home on his behalf /not likely.

The only thing for sure from the Lord govt is the same thing... nothing of conseqence unless it is spending money on those who really don't need it. The sooner they are out the better!! Nice try last week by Shawn Graham. Too bad it didn't work. I don't know how much longer the prov. can bear up under this outfit.

Here is a spin story /Mr.Lord is so quick to hide behind the fact that a 5 year old referendum determined that 50% of this province chose to keep VLT's for(Entertainment)how about calling him to task on holding a referendum on smoking in public places and let the people of this province decide whether they think that would be entertaining or how about a referendum on whether or not people would think it is entertaining to smoke pot in this province or a referendum on whether or not the people of this province want a LNG plant here. And let's not forget that we only need 52% of the province to qualify for these referendums. Also this will give him the oppertunity to continue doing what he does best hide behind something or someone.

Nova Scotia has a nice site GameOverVLTs.com. Why not one in NB?

I haven't seen it yet but the news comming out of Nova Scotia suggests there is an all out war on vlt's down there. To bad we couldn't borrow a few of the energetic protestors for a while to come and support Mr.Smith, Mr.Bishop & the Families whom lost loved ones or everything they own here,This website seems to be contributing to the effort into the cause but then again as charlie would say I always love a good story but I think the differance between there and here is Mr.Smith got them going on the issue and then John Dunnsworth came out in support of the issue and is a well known face and was able to get it going plus the fact that leaders down there don't get their ministers to do their talking they take their kicks as well as when they score and credit where credit is due Mr.Hamm scored one with the voters for now.here we have a premier that needs the money as he said at any cost and lets not forget Mr.Volpe' when he also said:We desperately need the money, every single dollar. So for now until something gives I don't think a few thousand people in front of the legislator would make a difference.

Very disappointed and disgusted by the Mayor and Councillors, all city staff, Premier Lord and Ministers and MLA's. We now need a new Bill to protect the citizens and taxpayers of Saint John. No matter what is done to brain wash some people this is not a good deal for Saint John. We pay the highest taxest and needed some municipal tax dollars to pay for services we have not been able to afford. Do not expect any respect or money when you want us to pay for your mistakes. We must have a money tree in Mayor McFarlane office. No need to worry he will look after the taxpayers of Saint John when he look into our eyes.
