WE MUST TELL TIM SMITH THAT HE WAS RIGHT!!!

WE MUST TELL TIM SMITH HE IS RIGHT!!!

This statement coming from MLA Mike Murphy of the Liberal
party Friday during a meeting in the Legislature on VLT addiction.

In this Province, we must confirm Mr. Smith's comment on the hours of operation of these machines and the allotted time for hopelessly addicted persons of New Brunswick to not have these machines blocking their path every minute of the day if in fact they are for entertainment purposes only!

That's great that all three parties agree Mr.Smith is right but I still don't see anything in writing to say changes are on the way? Every person there can agree with the facts but no action pretty well means no solution? Isn't it true that his sign said they are as addicted as the players their killing and isn't the fact that our neighbouring provinces are working diligently on comming up with solutions to reduce lost lives and access but the New Brunswick Government hasn't made a single suggestion to the public prove that statement to be too true?

Isn't it ironic that an mla from moncton rallies for him but it's like the mla's from Saint John are on vacation I don't recall seeing them on cbc or any other media source representing his cause? They should have capitalized on the media blitz a couple of weeks ago to show support for him and and their Province and they could have gotten public support for themselves by at least showing an interest in what the issue means in their respective ridings? I think the message is to discourage protests of any kind in your province but all is not lost because as observers elseware we capitalize on the publicity that is shown around the maritimes to gain support in our areas for these same causes.
Good job tim you may feel at times your fighting alone but the real embarrassment goes to your elected officials for showing the rest of us how spineless they are and remind us in other provinces that we should be thankful that our representatives still listen to us.
Good luck on your task at hand tim and don't give up!

If after four months there has been nothing done it goes without saying what will take place does beating a dead horse ring any bells?? the truth is the truth even governments have addictions money is money.

I thought there was going to be an early spring public anouncement on this issue? Weren't Ministers Blaney & Volpe quoted as saying (Those proposals are very reasonable)if such is the case then what could the holdup be?? HHMMM Mr.Lord???

There was a piece on ATV last night saying that the helpline in Nova Scotia has more than doubled since the media started reporting on this topic and the Nova Scotia government has had to admitt that they and I quote(We might have had the true number of people effected by this addiction wrong because in all reality there is no real way of measuring those numbers)They went on to say that it is a fact of some 15,000 problemed VLT gamblers only 1000 are believed to be recieving proper counciling.

I saw that report it has been suggested that the reason these numbers have been on the rise is because of gamblers themselves reaching out through the media and because some of these gamblers are known to them.

Firs thank you all for your comments on this issue 2nd I was just watching the ATV evening news and the government of Nova Scotia has just confirmed the changes that will be implimented which includes the removal of 1000 Video Lottery Termanals and also our proposal of a reduction of hours of operation. My god I am sooo disappointed in our governments ability to listen to it's citizens This seems to follow one of the above comments that says you come up with the suggestions and we will follow them through and benifit from them. I am going to write to Mr.Bernard Lord and suggest he call his counterpart in Nova Scotia and take a private cource from him on Public Relations with the voters of this Province.I must say I am very disappointed in his nonaction on this issue after being confronted on the need to act on it amoung other things I would like to say to him but will hold on to my self dignity. A detailed look at the above mentioned N.S.-VLT results will be on ATV tomorrow night.

Tim don't stop what you are doing or let frustration get you down because thats the way bernard lord likes to work there are many people with many issues that share your pain when it comes to Premier Lord and his self interest on the issues in this province even at the cost of life itself be patient and try to stay the coarse other politicians are listening give them time to react I refuse to believe you have gone unheard we support you as well as other problem gamblers in this province, take care and keep the faith.

What Lord and ministers say has no resemblance to what they actually do. If you folks do not know that by now then it is sad. Lord only works for insurance companies, Irving, Molson and other big business. The grants he gives to big business, money has to come from somewhere and VLTs is a good source to collect 100s of millions. More demonstrations and protests needed to get some action. Change of government needed. Lord will never stand up for the little guy.

Lord has f****d up this province. The only reason he is surviving now is thanks to Irving media who keeps propping him up. He is Irving’s obedient servant and why would they not keep him in power. Too bad for rest of us.

It is a shame that we cannot express our conserns to our own elected officials on these matters which even includes loss of life but at the same time I'm also happy to see that the conserns from one person to another is still alive in this province,am hopefull that this can have a positive ending, good luck tim.

This should be proof that Bernard Lord does indeed believe life itself has a price and for him as much as possible to before you die or commit suicide which ever comes first because without these lost souls how in the world would he pay the bills,

hey the new slogan for the next lord election - You'll just DIE to be a part of our plan for the future of New Brunswick with the Conservative Party!
