Speaking of control? I heard the Irving has set its sights on killing the Port of Saint John!
The ruumor is that he is conspiring with Forterm to move all the lumber shipments to Bayside in Saint Andrews?
I hear they are also trying to get Tembec to (formerly Nackawic) to move their paper through there also.
I wonder if my good friends Abel Leblanc and Pat Riley knows about this?
From what my sources are telling me? The Irving is trying to kill the Port and the union along with it.
I heard the Irvings owes the ILA $800,000 over the wood chip barges and won't pay.
I heard of this practice on many occasions in New Brunswick!
The Irvings are trying to kick them off the piers at the Drydock but it is ILA jurisdiction.
It doesn't help to have $27.oo/hr labour on the dock when you are attempting to start up a $10.oo/ hr GREEN PARK biomass generation/ gypsum wallboard plant.

I got a question? Why don't these Irvings reporters call the Union at the Port and asked them some questions? They will not do this because they will be fired right on the spot!
As you speak, the Irvings are trainning future journalists at Saint Thomas who will dedicate their life and soul to the Irving Empire!
I refuse to give my life and soul to the Irving Empire and the battle against the billionaire who supports a Germany style version here in Canada will continue till the end of times!

all i can say is anything is better then the waste of space it is right now. i seen shots of the cranes & stuff on global news all rusted to shit,do something with the place & hopfully its as enviro friendly as they claim.

I'm not in the know when it comes to unions and other similar organizations. What does ILA stand for?

As far as the Irvings trying to mess with the Port, the Port does not have to rely on Irving Cargo and they can search for other business as well.. Irving cargo isn't the be all and the end all for the Port and the sooner that is seen the better for the Port of Saint John. I would like to think that there is some co-ordinator out there looking for new business for the port, that's what is needed down there.
One by One the Irvings will destroy any Union that is out there.
They are cruel and heartless, the men that worked the cranes at the shipyard in the cold dead of winter deserve the money that is owed to them and they worked
for, even the judge thought so because he ruled in the Unions favor.
If they don't pay they should be shut down before they start. A lein on the premises until its paid would be where they should start.
Everyone is afraid to say or do something to upset the Irvings because they control the City of John.If what is happenning with the LNG in other country this could have been solved longe ago with some bad results,and not to say nothing about the tax it is a desgrace to the poor and medium class people.
Why hasn't the port diversified and gotten more clients over the years. Surely they could have forseen that Irving alone couldn't be relied on for their long term success.
it's real slow at the port of saint john these days, word has it that the Irvings sent all of their cargo such as lumber and paper-rolls all to bayside. I don't know what is going on down there, but whoever is suppose to be working trying to get business for the Port is doing an aweful terrible job, it always seems to be the Port of Saint John has problems keeping business, the port of halifax is booming with mostly container ships, montreal is booming even bayside now, that they have all of the saint john's business..I don't know if someone is sitting on their hands or what but I think the Port of Saint John can do better than that. jeepers! years ago the port had Mccains frozen food, potatoes, other kinds of bulk cargo. Come on someone has to wake up and get the business back that is ashame for a big part of Saint John to be sitting there being wasted. The employees need the work the more business they get the more people to employ, there is still alot of people out of work out here! If it is the Irvings trying to get business away and saying prices are too high for dock fees and wages and things someone should have back bone and stand up and do something about it. All the other Ports are getting around the same wages as far as docking fees I don't know but hey this day and age you have to be very competitive too attract more business.
I agree with the last comment about the Port of Saint John, I think the Port Authorities are too worried about tourism on the wharf instead of worrying about getting business.. Someone is lacking something and should pull up their socks and get the Port back in business!
