The following was in August 29, 2005 editorial of Telegraph. Is that not double-faced? LNG is great for Saint John but bad for the health of St. Andrews' folks. What about the health of people in Saint John? Telegraph Journal editorial: quotes: "Irving Oil might benefit if the Maine LNG projects fall through, but Premier Lord is not acting as the company's advocate. He's opposed to the Passamaquoddy Bay projects because they would be located on waters this province shares with Maine, and that worries New Brunswick residents"
"LNG tankers would disrupt Canadian businesses based on tourism, fisheries and aquaculture."
"The residents of St. Andrews and other communities fear the LNG projects on Passamaquoddy Bay would threaten their health, property, and way of life."
It is funny but at the same time sad and scary. LNG is bad for the health of St.Andrews and area communities and good for Saint John. It is a double talk of worst kind.
Sounds like a case of-What’s good for he goose is good for the gander- Irving of course not wanting the competition- The government doing what they do best, bulls--t Joe public and at the same time privately kiss corporate ass and then the infamous, Oh but we're not involved- And finally the people have the right to say, hey if its ok to do it here then it should be all right to do it anywhere.
I myself am a believer of the third, if its ok to put LNG in Saint John and its all good, no fears of any kind according to Irving Corporation, City Council and both parties of this Province who also say that any other reasons for NOT possibly wanting LNG in Saint John is strictly (Fear Mongering!!)
If its as safe as they say it is then there should be no problems with wanting more than one plant in N.B. and or more than one LNG Plant anywhere along Maine coast,
As of course we have been assured by all levels of Government as well as the Irving Company our worries are unwarranted then I see no other reason then “competition” being the key ingredient of all further grievances toward other ventures in this industry
With that being the case then the Irving Company just has to lick It,s wounds and enjoy the tax break they managed to swindle right out from under our noses and get used to the idea that there are other companies out there that are in business for prophet as well. They are not and never will be the governing body of this Province and should except this as such and get back to running their many other scandalous enterprises and maybe reconsider putting a little of all that N.B. prophet into some worth while charities to show their appreciation for the many things that have been done for then in return. Thus the term…{{Return Investment!}}
