"CBC TO GO ON STRIKE MONDAY????"

FINALLY! A sentence where Charles' overuse of question marks is actually grammatically correct!

Anonymous said...

hahaha - I know!

Too bad the CBC is about to go on strike... because the grammar thing would be a story worth telling!
lol

All the best to CBC. I hope their demands are met.

Yes and Charles will learn some day how to use exclamation marks ; May be?????,!!!!!?????

I agree - I hope the CBC gets what it wants as well. The workers are going too far in demanding that no casuals can be hired... it's ridiculous.

Who cares if they go on strike or not. The CBC Sucks.

CBC is the best.

CBC is the tops in news, documetaries and other programs. Better than many U.S. t.v chanels.

Who wants to watch commercial T.V. Sell, sell and sell. If you want to hear real news watch CBC. Rest is sensalization.

Maybe when they go on strike,They can also demand to have better control of local content FOR NEWBRUNSWICKERS as part of the new deal and possibly put some umph back into the local news Hopefully compete with the outside stations that for some odd reason brings it across with a little more pazzaz and for god sakes get an anchor person that won't put us all to sleep with the lullaby presentations we are all victom of at the present.
I wish them good luck and new look to boot couldn't or wouldn't hurt.

May they get what they want and keep the high standards that CBC maintains including the great anchor they have.

To change the topic. Ali Baba Percy Mockler is complaining that Andy Scott did not call back when he left a message for him. He complains that Prime Minister did not answer letters from Bernard Lord. Mockler should know how he and his boss Lord treat the public of this province. Months go by and you never hear back from these fellows. Call them, write them letters, send them e-mails, no answer. Municipalities have complained, individual citizens have complained. So Ali Baba practice what you preech.

"9" Days until talk-of-the-town goes on air!

Thanks for the reminder, I'll be sure not to listen, to the same callers all the time, and the same old, same old topics.

I just arrived home to find a message on my answering machine saying there has been another victom to VLT addiction- The caller left me a message saying that a good friend of his has hung himself over VLTs and that he will return another call later today with the details,
He said he does not want this to be covered up by the government of New Brunswick.
So the world is less another person due to governmental greed and non-stop exploitation...
Charles I will send you a private update as soon as I hear from this person'I know him very well.
He has asked me to make sure this story goes to the public and will call me back.

After reading Tim's story one may ask the question, who is more dangerous Lord Government or a serial killer. They both kill using different methods. Both have need for power and control.
Here is a Part of the story of a serial killer as reported by NBC:

BTK killer waives trial, admits 10 slayings
Dennis Rader gives chilling matter-of-fact account of slayings in court

Updated: 5:24 p.m. ET June 27, 2005
WICHITA, Kan. - In a surprise move, Dennis Rader pleaded guilty Monday to 10 counts of first-degree murder before delivering a chilling matter-of fact account of the BTK slayings that terrorized the city beginning in the 1970s.

Rader, 60, of Park City, entered the guilty pleas as his trial was scheduled to begin Monday.

Referring to his victims as “projects,” Rader laid out for the court how he would “troll” for victims on his off-time,

The only thing which will be interesting is will anyine notice?

Watch the coverage and see who is complaining about CBC being off the air. My money is on the arts community and the elitists. Your average Canadian couldn't care less.

The sad part is CBC's rating will fall once again as they have the past two strikes and not recover. That is unfortunate. Personally I would prefer CBC survives but only if they get a reality grip and start serving Canadinans as a whole not just fringe groups.

Lets remember who makes the programming decisions here. The ultimate decisions on how our money is spent, is made by the same people who made the choice to LOCK OUT the 5500 employees across the country. While I will agree that "some" cbc programming leaves alot to be desired, the news and current affairs programming of our public broadcaster is top notch with some of the best people in Canada, and even the world.
These same morons at the top, have decimated local content across this country. We all like to complain about what is carried on the network. Maybe for a change instead of bitching about it people should TELL these boneheads what it is we'd like to see and hear....after all WE as the Canadian taxpayers OWN this company, not Robert Rabinovitch or any of his high priced flunky's. Want to CUT at CBC??? We've trimmed and cut like crazy and the programming has suffered.......lets try cutting some of those HUGE salary's at the top where the real FAT is. I'm tired of the political whores at the top of this corp. running the CBC into the ground......as 1 of the owners I demand Rabinovitch's gophers get off their a**es and get this settled and get the real CBC back on the air!!

CBC is truly being missed by many. That is where you get more objective news and views than any other news media. Of course their other programs and documentaries are great too. CBC is a national treasure. However I agree with the comments above that there is a problem at the top and those morons need to be dealt with.

Hear hear. I agree the problem is at the top but the problem is that CBC brass is out of touch with the average Canadian. The audience will continue to be decimated until they get a grip on that. I'm not convinced more money is the key when the more serious problem of relating to Canadians still exists. I'm not saying no Canadian watches it, obviously many here are passionate, but it's an ever dwindling number which makes it less viable financially.

Anonymous said...

No one said it is a dwindling number who watch CBC. Even some American prefer CBC news over their own news because CBC is more objective. At the top yes there is a need for some changes.

That's true spinks, I'm not in favor of throwing a ton of money at the CBC either. I personally believe the money is there now.....what they have to do is stop throwing it away.....stop running it like the civil service....wasting money left and right. Unfortunatly people always want to seem to blame the union and the on air talent. The money is being tossed by Rabinovitch and his merry band of bozo's. The focus of CBC and their target has been lost over the years. The CBC uppers must realize that they are NEVER going to get the kids who want to hear top forty to switch to CBC........ain't going to happen. God ya can't even turn on CBC radio on Saturday anymore. DNTO??? Gimme a break......absolute crap.
I have little use for most of the National shows on CBC Radio nowadays. The local content was where they excelled and that's what they keep tearing away at.....
Now, all that said, if CBC is going to survive, ONE of the ingredients needed is going to be talent......on air and off air....and that's not going to happen if all being offered in the future is contract work and temporary positions....CBC already hire about 30% on temp basis, but apparantly that's not enough for them. Obviously that's not the only ingredient needed. See above....CLEAN OUT THE DEAD WOOD AT THE TOP!!! that would be a great start :-)

Agreed 3:10pm. You can't run a proper shop with people who don't know if they'll be around tomorrow. Unfortunately for the strikers, this hurts them deeply as well. Each of the past two strikes has contributed to declining ratings which the CBC has failed to bounce back from. A prolonged strike will hurt them even further. Viewers/listeners return but in lower numbers after a lengthy strike.

2:57pm - I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but CBC's numbers are dwindling across the country at an incredible rate compared to their private counterparts. They are fortunate to have dedicatad viewers/listeners as yourself but a shake-up is required. If the federal Conservatives win the next election, they'll be tempted to let it go unless CBC proves it is essential to the Canadian identity. Currently, I don't think they can do it because they've lost touch with the public. Thus the declining numbers.

Clean out the top is a great idea. Some fresh blood and new ideas are crucial if the CBC is to survive in the long-term. (I still think the CBC brass is far too worried about being politically correct instead of delivering un-biased news but that's a discussion for another day.)

If you want to listen to biased news then go to commercial t.v. They will also tell you how too build sand castles in Shediac. However there is a lot of room for improvement for CBC and better managers will be a good begining.

Naw, I get enough biased news from CBC but I'll agree with you on one point - the problem rests with management.
