As long as slaves of big business like Bernard Lord of this world are around nothing will happen. You can make noise from here to eternity nothing will happen. It is the right governments which can make changes. You need a strong political leader who has some backbone then there can be some changes.
Do you expect Irvings to change? Forget it. You are dreaming.
People have to wake up and find a right kind of leader who can stand up to the big business. Elect politicians who have some morals and not liars like Bernard Lord who gives free ride to Irving as in the case of LNG.
Every other Premier in Atlantic Canada has said that rising gas prices are filling the coffers of government through GST and other gas taxes. Ok provincial gas tax does not change per litre but rising prices do bring more in other taxes, GST for example. Lord is lying again.
Lord is saying rising gas prices do not bring additional revenues for the province. In other words keep them high and let the gas companies, such as Irving, prosper.
"5" Days until talk-of-the-town goes on air!
"4" Days until talk-of-the-town goes on air!
It is without a doubt that this Province prospers from rising gas prices and all other Premiers will openly tell their people this, But lets not forget who we're talking about here in New Brunswick.
Mr. Lord has lied to the people for soo long that he now believes everything he says is the truth and it's just another day at the office.
Here, here. You are so right about Lord lying and misleading. He says when people pay high gas prices then they buy other things less thus there is no additional taxes coming to the province. What the hell he means by that? That people have stopped eating and gone to live in caves that they do not buy other things.
The way he has screwed up on Orimulsion and now Point Lepreau we may have to live in caves. We will NOT be unable to afford hydro prices. Of course the gas prices skyrocketing we will not be able to afford to buy food. So we will hunt and fish for food. Bernard Lord then can brag that he is taking us back to nature. This man is a dead loss.
'We will NOT be unable to afford hydro prices.'
Sorry. It should read, "We will NOT be able to afford hydro prices."
Throw this out to you regarding hydro prices. Sales taxes (both federal and provincial) should come off immediately. Power is a necessity in today's day and age not a luxury. We'll have to bite it as taxpayers somewhere else but the taxes should come off because it would help everyone particularly the poor.
Does anybody know a site for PEI and what they're paying, I hear they regulate gas prices there.

About 1.00 a litre right now. It will be interesting to see what they'll pay next month especially if and this is a big IF our prices come down.
