SAINT JOHN - MAN HANGS HIMSELF BECAUSE OF THE VLT'S!!!!!

This person was 36 years of age he was born and lived in saint john he has left behind a wife and one child,5 year old daughter.

SUICIDE
DALLORS FOR LIFE,THE VLT DESEASE

He was working part time, he had been struggling off and on with vlt addiction for quite some time but was unable to stop.

He tried recovery programs a few times his family had helped him level out at least twice in the past with little success and his in laws also tried to help him financially but also with short time success.

He was found at home.

We know his name but as of yet have not talked to his family so do not want to cross any respect barriers.

Tim is going to have a coffee meeting witha friend of the family this weekend.

So who's responsible for this tragic death? Bernard Lord? The bureaucrats? Maybe you will say- We all have choices in life?

VLT-empty

What's your view on this one?

Would a day of rest for the VLT'S could have prevented this suicide?

What do you think?

Is Tim Smith roght on this issue?

How many more New Brunswickers will died because of their addiction to the VLT'S??? That's the emotional question?

Let us NEVER forget the key word her is Entertainment.

Well when your being exploited 17 hours a day, 7 days a week the truth is you really have no place to run, no place to hide and no place to go as these machines are waiting and calling to you around each and every corner,
And as for proper help unless you have a good set of legs and about an hour and a half to spare each way to get to what our government might call a great recovery program consisting of about 45 minutes once a week and this is just within the city or you have a car or children and you put them in care to open a case to get a bus pass through the child protection department to get there.

Yes Mr. Robichaud you are right, No new money needed in the addictions sector.

Yes Mr. Lord this is quite the entertainment/ If your a sadistic cold hearted head of state and using addiction to pay the bills through full time non-negotiable exploitation of obsessive compulsive disorder.
Of which you’re not the first to do, but you did have the opportunity to show compassion and wisdom to put forth a much-needed solution but instead titled it(Entertainment purposes)

Yes Mr. Volpe this certainly reminds us of your say too, that you need and want every penny at any cost!

So this does seem to be the one time that all 3 of you gentlemen have totally told the truth and here again is proof!

And lastly and most importantly this as many other nameless individuals might have been avoided if they could have only had part of the day to at the very least try to stay away from this disease instead of their own government hiding behind a referendum that has nothing to do with changes to how VLTs are operated.
And of whom all seem to be suffering form,Lets pretent its not happening syndrome!! So as to sleep at night.

Not only corporations & big business do not pay their share of taxes but they also get millions is grants and other tax breaks. $3 million to Molson plus tax and fee consessions of another $3million. $120 million tax break to Irvings on LNG project plus shallow assessment of environment impact of LNG. Lord government's actions boarder on criminality. We must get rid of the curse called Lord Government.

Although difficult, the family should come forward publicly ASAP. The more families that tell their stories, the greater the pressure on government to remove the VLT's. One word of caution though. I'm still convinced that if VLT's are removed there will be an even greater pressure on government to open casinos in N.B. This will keep the problem to certain areas but I suspect it will also create a host of other problems and social ills as well.

Spinks you must do me a favor and look through all previous material on vlts,No where does it suggest removal of machines as to respect the so called((Although split on this issue just like the province)) referendum!
What is and always has been asked of this and the previous government of this province is to please stop the continuous exploitation of this addiction by putting them in a specific location and or putting the hours to 6pm - 2:30am to acommodate what our premier says is "Entertainment"!!!
And to also assume a portion of responsibility of the numerous suicides for the Millions of dollars collected under a government sponsored program of exploitation to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder by giving a day of respect, that being on Sunday to the Families that have as their loved ones did payed the altimate price for that revenue just as the addicts must assume partial responsibility for getting hooked.

Tim is very polite, I think they should get rid of these evils VLTs. First thing first. We will cross the bridge of casinos when we come to that.

What Tim is suggesting will be a good start in that directon.

I agree with above. Forget the hours. Turf the VLT's. I like the Sunday idea too but I think we've kissed the concept of Sunday for families goodbye with sunday shopping, etc. Too bad. Even if we didn't want to call it the Lord's Day, call it family day and give people a break. Families need all the help they can get.

The New Brunswick Government created this Monster but doesn't want to take the responsibility of taming it,so the beast goes on eating it's victoms.

The money keeps on flowing in but none comes back to hire a trainer for the beast.

Mr. Lord will be in Saint John to give one Million dollars to the city for the expansion to the harbour passage on chesley dr.

Well isn't that nice now,
if only he would reconsider and put half of that towards addiction services to help save lives from VLT suicides and upgrade the methedone program and save those poor soles also.
And while he is here he might want to explain to the widow of the gentleman who committed suicide over vlt addiction and explain to her how the money is more important to the harbour passage.
If he even remotely thinks that a cause like that will earn him votes in the next election,he might as well take the money back to fredericton and use it for another trip or some other useless purpose that his genius can come up with...

I believe that you have every right to your opinion and maybe you will help the issue of the VLT's. What you aren't helping is the man's family and friends. How dare you exploit someone's death in this way. What are you nuts?
I WANT AN APOLOGY!!!

Anonymous said...

There is no name of any kind mentioned in this blog as to protect identities of those involved-And if you would like an apology you should ask the lord government as they are the ones responsible for this neighborhood exploitation of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

I am exploiting the fact that for the more than 100 Million Dollars per year this government is receiving, people of all ages-Brothers sisters mothers fathers grandparents grandchildren cousins friends are paying the ultimate price and they are left with NO NAME and their families most often never see it comming but your governing body knows it is.

They are also the ones who have said very publicly that they need every penny at all costs,

Mr. Lord himself has said on Melonson Live this spring that a study says that we have the lowest suicide rate from this addiction so there is no need for changes and there will be no more negociations just keep the money coming.

A friend of this gentleman called me to ask me to let this government and the public know there has been another death attributed to their price tag but not to publish his name and that is what I have done.
I am truely sorry if this story offends you in any way as it is intended to remind this government that they should, shall and one day will be held responsible for this person and every person before that has died to pay the bills of this province and the sad fact is we truley do not even know if this money is being spent within N.B. as it is to hard to follow, The government will only say the revenues are mixed in with other lottery revenues.

And my personal message to you is if this is someone you know I am sure you will agree he did not have to die at the hands of an addicted government for the sake of money and greed over life.

If you wish to talk to me you can reach me by private emailing me or giving me a call.

I don't think anyone should ever die from cigarette smoking either and the government certainly get lots of tax from that deadly habit also. It is a sad but true fact that people get addictions. Is it possible that you should concentrate more on getting more funding for the addicts and not trying to stop something that some people enjoy harmlessly. I know plenty of those people.

You might also take a look at the possibility that people that have addictive personalities are ofter addicted to other things. For instance - coffee and cigarettes and not many people pitch a tent at Tim Horton's to protest. Who doesn't know someone who is addicted to coffee.

These factors all play a part in making someone who they are. We all have money problems , relationship issues, stress at work and life to live. Some handle it better than others. We cannot point the finger at just one thing and blame it on our government because they collect the taxes.

I would also ask you to be sensitive to those involved when a tragedy like this happens. I don't think you are doing that when you email people who worked with this person and guide them to take a look at your site. It causes a lot of PAIN.
Your heart might be in the right place but you have hurt people this time.

I believe that we did the right thing here because the media will not write aboutthis issue! Why? I don't know! This blog is not my blog or anyone blog but some people like to call it the ir own but what I'm saying is that this blog is the public blog and some issue must be talked about as to the suicide of that poor father. I believe that the members of the families should get together like they did in Nova Scotis and hold an news conference. There was another suicide last year and the father left a 2 weeks old baby. When I'm in Saint John, I must called the wife and asks her if she wish to go public with this issue! If we had Shawn Graham as Premier? This issue would be dealt with as soone as possible but not this Government. As one P.C. bureaucrat told me- Ohhh your site is full of antiBernard Lord people only! This is far from the truth because we have some good caring people who reads this blog. We have different level of life in here. From the very poor to the very rich! I prey that we can continue the blog in a human way!!!!

Charles, the Police generally don't report suicides. So in fairness to the media I doubt they know, or even if they do, if they don't have a name to check facts they have no story.
