Sorry...couldn't get through.....they had around 25 callers...that's a lot...what Shawn should do? He should go out of his way and appear on CFBC talk of the town every month. That would be called good public relation skill!!!!

What happened? The building got suddenly repaired. The construction is over. Lord fans must have run out of excuses now as to why that moron will not accept questions. Do you know when Shawn Grahams program will be repeated.

Charles is talking about CFBC not Rogers.

Then ask your friend to go on CFBC since you felt obligated to respond so fast.

Gee 12:13, no reason to be hostile. It was tough to tell by Charles post about which show it was particulalrly if you weren't in Saint John so I thought you might not have realized Graham was on CFBC this morning. Just trying to be nice. Sorry to bother you.

No bother. I thought you were justifying why Lord will not take question because you have been the steady excuse-giver for Lord and the gang.

I think they should do a three hour show from 9am-12noon when there is a politician or government official of any kind in as this would allow for more questions.
I also tried unsuccessfully to get a call in but to no avail and I called at 10:00 but was obviously still too far back on the list of callers.
Hopefully he liked the response to talking with the voters and we can get back to citizen/politician relations where it should rightfully be anyway.
And on that note I'll keep it short for this one..

Can anybody give some examples of some questions and his responses?

why this guy still on spinks? dude, don't you have anything better to offer. at least spinks writing is interesting. that's better than your spinks this and spinks that. who cares? spinks can write what he wants.

7:21 PM. How is it like being an alter-ego of Spinks?

Do I get a vote 7:21pm? I'm tired of it too. LOL.

7:42pm - good point on the NB Power/heating oil issue. I raisede this point a couple of months ago and no one built on it for some reason. There's no way tax should be paid on necessities of life like power, heating oil, etc. Diapers are even taxed for crying out loud. The only way to get a firm committment from a politician is to ask them now priot to an election and make sure the media hears them so it's on record. A lot tougher to weasel out of a committment that way. (except for the federal Liberals and GST of course. Apparently Canadians don't care about that.) Yeah, sorry 8:06 who thinks we should never talk federal issues, or at least I shouldn't. I couldn't resist.

Sorry, I should have said MJ not 7:42pm. So few put a name to this, it's habit to go by times.

Bernard Lord is a poor excuse for human-being.

How many promises has Lord kept?

Anonymous said...

Anybody have anything constructive like telling us the questions and some of his answers for those who missed it? There is no such thing as GST in NB, it's HST, the federal part of which can't be dropped by a provincial government.

Well, off the top of my head, 20 anyway from the 200 days of change. You might not like them. I didn't really care for the tolls one myself but he did keep them. I haven't even heard the opposition deny that fact. And my provincial taxes are lower than they were with the Liberals (another promise)although just about every other bill I get from everybody else is up so I'm not convinced I'm ahead, however my prov. taxes are lower. Fewer poor people pay taxes than ever before as well. He promised that along the way. I haven't seen any broken promises to the people of NB as a whole although I know there's been mention here that Charles and Tim Smith may have had a promise made by Lord and broken, although I don't know enough about that one. Admittedley there have been several screwups like Orimulsion along the way but I can't recall anything where Lord said "I promise...whatever" and blatantly broke it. Maybe there has been. If so I stand to be corrected.

Initially it was called B.S. T. Then Elizabeth Weir called B.S. Tax. Then it was changed to HST. However, it is called GST nonetheless.

It should be a big headline tomorrow that Lord kept his promises. Sorry! But that is a total bull. Let us take two major promises he made during 1999 election:
1)His government will be more accesible as governments are by the people. We all know how accesible Lord government is.
2) He repeatedly said that his government will be transparent. It is transparent like mud. Even Auditor General said that it is not a transparent and open government.

I can go on but other should pitch in. The man is a liar.

You asked for promises kept and I provided a few examples. Sorry you don't like them but they were promises and were kept. Like I said even the opposition doesn't argue that he kept the promises I mentioned even if they don't like them. You seemed to want to leave the impression that he hasn't kept ANY promises. That obviously isn't true.

Transparency and accesibility are interesting issues. A little too much spin on the transparencey issue so I'll agree that's it's not as good as it should be. A lie might be a bit strong but I would agree it could be better. Accessability? I think pretty much anyone can make an appointment and go see government-like people. Heaven knows, Charles has plenty of access given all the pictures he has of everybody.

&(^&*^^*6!!!! Did anybody actually SEE Shawn Graham-what the hell did he say????

For more broken promises you can check out the liberal party website where they list 24, although they 'may' be biased:)

http://www.nblib.nb.ca/24%20Unfulfilled%20Promises%20of%20the%20Lord%20Government.doc

You'll notice they list the page numbers of the PC party platform where these promises are located. There are no pages listed from 3-15, which means somewhere in there must be some promises they kept or else the liberals didn't list them for some other reason. Anybody have a copy of the PC Platform?

Bernie here:

You are too harsh on me. I do keep promises.

Transparency: I traveled everywhere in NB. People tell me they can see right through me. They say they can read me like a book. What more transparency you want?

Accessibility: I am very accessible. Have you tried to write me a letter or send me an e-mail? I will acknowledge your letter within a year. If I do not one of my ministers will acknowledge it. Great accessibility. What more you want.

And then, and then I brought lot of prosperity. My MLAs’ salaries have doubled since I took over. They are prosperous. Irivings are becoming very prosperous. I helped Irivings with hundreds of millions of dollars. Insurance companies, yes insurance companies are singing my songs. They are making billions and I helped them a lot.

Then my favourite Molson. $6 million was just not enough I must give them some more. They can use even more prosperity. So why are you complaining.

Got to run. I am a busy man. I hope I answered some of your questions. Bye for now.

If I could think of one thing to have a referendum on it would be tolls. Some people say 'well, you voted conservative so you must not have wanted tolls'. That's a pretty lousy argument.

The above comment is right on, if Nova Scotia gets more tourism from the highways WE pay the tolls of the tourists. The only thing I'm not sure about is that I don't think shadow tolls are on trucking, but I'm not positive about that, anybody has a link or knows for sure, post it.

I know of people who simply oppose tolls on principle, even in the north because they think it could lead to tolls on all highways. I think that's pretty dumb, but again, if they knew that they were ALREADY paying tolls for other people, I think they would re-evaluate their opinion. Again, wouldn't direct democracy be nice.

hey charles, you should have emailed S Graham......he would have answewred all your questions like he did mine......I just read in the irving rag that the Rogers Cable people think they can run radio, and wnet on line yesterday morning at 5:30am....also it seems the has been T YOung is mcc of an afternoon talk show....I thought he hung up his "MULTI coloured scarf" and retired as he couldn't elected by the PC"S or the Liberals"...I guess Rogers were hard up to try and get a talk show running, possibly to deflect callers from Rick Mantle, on Talk Of The Town as T Young got booted out of there several years ago, but it will never work!!I will not give Rogers the time of day as the stink as cable providers and I am sure this fly by night radio station will fair jsut as well....
