STAPH INFECTION AT THE SAINT JOHN REGIONAL HOSPITAL!!!

Remember a few months ago, someone wrote a letter about staph infection at the Regional Hospital?

Many accused that individual of racism.

Well? I just received word that someone almost died because of staph infection at the Regional Hospital in Saint John.

The tools in the operation room weren't properly cleaned!

How many people have died because of our dirty hospitals??? Why are they dirty?

Because of the many cutsback????? You tell moi?????

Stay tune for more on this story!!!!

Yes there is negligence when it comes to hospitals because of cut backs and shortage of staff. However, it had nothing to do with minorities as your friend wanted us to believe.

It will be disasterous if the very people who are supposed to provide healthcare are exposed to this kind of health risks.

There are infections in every hospital in Canada. Why not try to find out what causes them and what is happening to prevent these infections instead of trying to frighten people into thinking the SJRH is dirty.

There is a problem in the cleanliness of at least some hospitals. I was visiting a friend at the Chalmers back in the winter and the garbage in the Ward Room and the bathroom wasn't cleaned for 48 hours. It was quote gross considering it was a maternity wing and four women had just given birth so you can imagine the blood, etc. from afterbirth. Is it cutbacks or just negligence on the part of administration? I have to go in this case with the Chalmers as negligence because this was a week or two before the Bible debate. Maybe they had some points about removing the Bibles due to infection BUT if they were really that concerned about infection, for crying out loud make sure the bathrooms in the patient's rooms are cleaned at least once a day and throw out the Reader's Digests from 1992. It seems Administration Officials were more concerned about dealing with pretty low priority stuff (throwing out Bibles) over making sure whether or not a bathroom was clean. Again this was one hospital so I don't know if cleaning is a problem in other hospitals or not.

I agree with you on this one. I understand the worst problem is in Montreal. In Atlantic Canada it is Halifax. This blog was uncalled for and just creating unnecessary horror.

Cleaniness in hospitals is indeed very important.

Hi
Last year I was in for a short while in the hospital and all went well. But I did notice that it was not that clean nor did they clean the bathroom while I was there. Bathroom are shared sometimes by four, two in each ajoining room. Yes before I used anything I used soap and water and rinsed things off. One other thing is that jails get fresh meals but hospital patients get meals that have been frozen and shipped to Saint John, needless to say everything tasted terrible. No one expects too much but a potato should taste like one. Very sick people have small appetites but they deserve a little bit of something that will encourage them to eat the next bite. I am not a fussy person and enjoy food but that did not taste like food. Sorry I wish things could improve but not with this government and I'm not sure where priorties lie except for taxing and gouging the people. I pay someone steps up to the plate.

ok first of all if this is true... its a super important topic and you need to do a spell check or something cause staff is a simple simple word and people arent going to take you seriously if you spell simple words wrong. second hospitals are super clean from what i can see. i dont even like hospitals and i know that there super clean.

You are so right about food. It is does not look like food, smell like food or taste like food. It is bought in Toronto in bukk all frozen and then unfrozen and given to patients. This must end. Even sawdust tastes better. T.V dinners you buy at supermarket are far superior. They should make Lord and his health minister eat it. That is the only food they should get. Then it will be removed from Saint John hospitals real quick.

This has nothing to do with food. This was in the operation room.

Yes spelling is important, but if that is all it takes to not take someone serious; then we are in danger. Most people lack common sense even with a degree or masters!
