Ed Doherty has plenty of work a head; Premier wants to change things already so he can control debates and less time in the legislature; he is hardly there now. Graham has his work cut out too.
Yesterday I was at the polls and I kept seeing PC's showing up Elsie Wayne, Trevor Holder bringing people to vote but no matter what happen behind closed doors the people did not buy the briberies that Saint John citizens witnessed that last 3 weeks. Hooton did not know why people did not vote for her, well Michelle remember that it was your Mayor and council that voted to give the Billionaires a 25 year tax break and if you want to revisit the Deal; it is never too late. Oh yes your Boss Premier Lord was the one that passed the law to allow this to happen to the people of Saint John. The Premier wants us to move on stop complaining and spot bringing up the past; well this situation is not in the past we live it everyday.
What about the Orimulstion Fiasco who will help us pay our power rates we can't afford. Seems to me the large Corporate friends of the Premier have received tax concessions, tax breaks, low interest loans, grants and a special deal on their power bill. We the people of Saint John won't be happy until we receive a tax break too. You could of frozen our taxes for a few years too. The ones who don't need the money they receive it and the ones who have been paying and can't make ends meet are just hoping for some fairness in all of this. Lord will never be able to regain grounds in Saint John. This LNG Deal is not over they want to ruin a park to put pipes through for this LNG deal. Write the Mayor and Council and ask they not be allowed this right. Next Council meeting Monday Nov 21; have letters into Council by Thursday, hand deliver to be sure or Email early. Don't mail because that won't be a guarantee, some mail can be delayed from desk to desk.
Thankyou Saint John, everyone gave Lord and Hooton a mighty good Booton. Too bad Mr. Hooton was expressing his anger towards Councillor Court; he didnot expect the comment or did he deserve it. He never had anything to do with DR. Doherty's win. Uncalled for because Court has been the only one who did try to revisit the deal since the Michelle's rescind vote, move on speech and a no show. Mayor would only let Michelle speak and they refered it and would not let Ivan speak. This Mayor and Council is not transparent and will never be because they refer things left and right and the people don't know what is going on until it is too late. They have committees to have these things covered up or disguised if you prefer. Democratic system of ours no longer exists. Not when they knew in 2004 that the LNG Deal had already been agreed on by Repsol and Irving; they just needed to look in the Mayor's eyes and they got a deal for 25 years. The people of Saint John don't deserve this treatment-- poverty, high tax rate, little tax base, living pay cheque to pay cheque, food banks to food banks, deplorable housing and in some cases no where to go after they lose their homes and jobs.
Lord never listened and probably still does not get it.
Good job Saint John, let Dr. Doherty know what is needed and talk to him because he is approachable.
