GOD'S MINUTE!!!

Picture 107

This Message Is Especially For, Charles

Dear Charles,
Today we are going to take a look at the History of a
Christmas Icon. Something that we are all very familiar with,
and has been around for a long, long time. This simple piece of
candy was created to represent Christ's Life and be a Tribute to
His Birth, but very few people know that. Unfortunately the story
of it creation has been lost to the traditions of Christmas, and
this candy with its Spiritual meaning is overlooked by most.
However the meaning is still there for those who know its History!

So today we will learn about this creation, and take a look
at the verses that may have been in the mind of its creator,
when he designed it.
*********************************
A candy maker in Indiana wanted to make a special gift for
Christmas. So he designed what we know as the Candy Cane,
with several symbols that represented Christ's Birth, as well as,
His life.

He began with a stick of pure white hard candy. White to
symbolize the Virgin Birth, "BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL
CONCEIVE AND BEAR A SON." (ISAIAH 7:14). and the
sinless life of Jesus. He wanted it hard to symbolize the Solid
Rock and the firmness of the Promises of God. "THE LORD IS
MY ROCK AND MAY FORTRESS AND MY DELIVERER;
(PSALM 18:2).

He designed it in the form of a "J" to represent the name of
Jesus whose birth we celebrate. "AND BEHOLD, YOU WILL
CONCEIVE IN YOUR WOMB AND BRING FORTH A SON,
AND SHALL CALL HIS NAME JESUS." (LUKE 1:37) When
turned upside-down it also represented the staff of the Good
Shepherd. "YOUR ROD AND YOUR STAFF THEY COMFORT
ME." (PSALM 32:4)

Now thinking that the candy was too plain he added red
stripes. He used three small ones to represent the scoring that
Jesus received before His death, "THEN PILATE TOOK JESUS
AND SCOURGED HIM." (JOHN 19:1) for through those stripes
we are healed. "BY WHOSE STRIPES YOU WERE HEALED."
(1 PETER 2:24) He then add a large red stripe symbolic of the
Blood that was shed by Christ on the cross, giving us the
opportunity to receive Eternal Life. "IN HIM WE HAVE
REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD, THE FORGIVENESS
OF SINS, ACCORDING TO THE RICHES OF HIS GRACE."
( EPHESIANS 1:7 *NKJV )

How about that, Charles! I'll bet that you will never look at
a Candy Cane again, in the same way that you used too.

Now may God's Blessings be with you and your family
this Holiday Season! Amen.

All My Love & Christmas Cheer,
your servant Allen
