Appeals Board decision panned

I recently sent a letter to the minister responsible for the Workplace
Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC) - a Crown
corporation -
about the decision not to reappointment two long-standing Appeals Board
members. These two members provided, between them, more than 35 years
of
appeals knowledge and WHSCC expertise.

Much to my dismay the minister appointed three new members who, in my
opinion, have no experience with the WHSCC nor the workings of this
commission. To say the injured workers of this province have once again
got
the shaft, is an understatement.

To throw away the expertise of these two ex-panel members is without a
doubt
one of the most ludicrous moves I've seen since being elected. Common
sense
must prevail.

To the new minister, Jody Carr, please revisit this unwise decision and
make
the appropriate corrections. Injured workers deserve the best this
province
has to offer. That's the expertise and vast experience of two
well-known and
admired panel members.

ABEL LeBLANC,
Liberal MLA
Saint John Lancaster
