Federal

Harper coming to province on spending spree Last updated Mar 23 2006 09:18 AM AST CBC News Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to be in New Brunswick Friday to announce funding for several projects, including the long-awaited cleanup of the Saint John harbour. Harper's press secretary told a reporter that "he's coming to keep some promises he talked about during the election." Premier Bernard Lord was also dropping hints on Wednesday in a speech to Saint John business people."I want [the province] to have the biggest reduction in air and water pollution in Canada," he said. "And I know mayor [Norm MacFarlane], you have an idea how we can do some of that. We'll be back in just a few days to make a big announcement on that." The federal government is expected to contribute up to half of the total cost of $88 million. Harper is expected to announce funding for Moncton, too. The city will get help building a new stadium for the 2008 world junior athletics championships.During a speech in Moncton Wednesday, Lord said there will be "good news" on the stadium front. Moncton Mayor Lorne Mitton said the city couldn't bid on the games unless it had the stadium money."We would be ill-advised to even make a proposal to the international association if we did not have a commitment from the two other levels of government" he said. The stadium would be located at l'Universite de Moncton.Harper is also expected to announce federal funding for a $110-million highway bypass in Fredericton.

Oboy, all the federal money coming this way! First, for the Saint John harbour the liberals had money set aside and the province didn't even APPLY for it. Second, the economy is shrivelling, the north is literally a third world region, and they're giving money to Moncton for a sports stadium?? Gee, anybody remember what a great investment the Aitken Centre was?

And Fredericton gets 110 million for a bypass. Gee, southern ontario gets over a billion for the auto plants and fredericton gets a bypass. What the hell does fredericton need another bypass for anyway?

Premier Lord said he would help us with the Car Insurance and that is not the case. He did help the companies make millions while we have to borrow to pay our bills.

The Orimulsion fiasco is criminal and really since he is a lawyer he should be charged.
When he and MLA's decided to let the Billionaires off the hook again to pay fair share of taxes he has gone too far. I voted for him first time but I didnot fall for the lies the second as other have.

You don't any personal reply from him and just look at the body guards he employs at our cost again. The attitude tells me enough is enough; Gooood Byyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Lorddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd.
