MAN IS HELD UP IN MONCTON BECAUSE OF VLT'S???

d'you hear about the fool with a shotgun at the econo-lodge on west
main st.
moncton? over vlt $ loss....

Police are surrounding a Moncton hotel where a gunman is believed to be
holed up inside the establishment's bar.

RCMP Const. Michel Mercier said a police negotiator is speaking with
the
man, who hasn't been identified.

Police surrounded this Moncton motel Friday morning.
There are reports that the man has a hostage, but police weren't
confirming
that at midday Friday.

"We can't confirm that there is a hostage. We are only at the beginning
of
the process with the negotiator," said Mercier.

Police received a call around 10:15 a.m. local time Friday from an
employee
at the city's Econo Lodge, saying a man had a firearm in the building.
The
downtown motel has been evacuated, said Mercier.

Kevin Campbell, who works at a used car dealership next to the motel,
said
rattled patrons Econo Lodge fled into his building after a man with a
gun
entered the motel.

The armed man ordered them all out of an area of the motel that
contained
video lottery machines, said Campbell.

When one man refused to leave his VLT, the gunman put his weapon to the
man's head. He then fled, said Campbell.

Motel workers said the gunman had lost money on the machines on
Thursday,
said Campbell.

He added that about 10 police officers are on the scene with their guns
drawn. Some officers are using the cars on his lot for cover, he said.

Campbell said it doesn't appear that the man has a hostage.

"It seemed like the gentlemen wanted to be with the machines by
himself," he
said.

CBC reporter Heather Robinson said police have repeatedly moved
reporters
away from the motel because the man appeared agitated as he looked out
the
window.

Police have also blocked off the area surrounding the motel on West
Main
Street in Moncton, slowing busy lunchtime traffic to a crawl.

I thought TIm was in Fredericton?

No,Tim is in Saint John N.B. and something of this nature is no laughing matter.

This is only the beginning for this type of crime as the next generation is know moving in on VLTs.

This government had better hang their heads in shame for the exploitation of VLT addiction

They and they ALONE are unconditionally and totally responsible for any and all acts of crimes regarding this addiction.

The New Brunswick Government has had more than enough time and warnings of worst things to come because of VLTs but have chosen to ignor this problem time and time again for lack of seeing past the all mighty buck.

Here,Here I am in total agreement with the above post.
When people across the maritimes are driving off of bridges and burning themselves alive in their vehicles among other unbelievible acts of desperation because of a government run program of this nature.
Then one can only conclude that they are definitly as addicted to the revenues as the players themselves.

Our government and politicians really should wake up: desperate people do desperate things.

The real world is suffering while the billionaires take our money and the Lord government have forgotten the people.

Amen to the above. This is no laughing matter, and unfortunately it always takes stuff like this before the government even notices. This guy is no 'fool', he is a poor bastard. As we know, VLT's were GEARED to get people addicted.

The only part I found almost sort of funny was the fact that one guy was playing a VLT and obviously is so addicted that when a guy with a gun came in he wouldn't leave! He had to put the gun right to his head. You can almost hear his words "OK, I'm leaving, but THATS my machine, if it pays out while I"m gone I want my money!"
