There was a write up in the paper last week.
He was quoted as saying he has no time for his family and his business is also suffering from lack of time so he has decided to hang it up for now.
But I think if you read between the lines he is really saying hey I can't perform miracles this man has nowhere else to go but down and I'm not willing to put all my eggs in his basket to find out.
Saint John Mayor Norm McFarlane is looking for a new executive assistant. Anthony Bamford will be leaving that post as of June 9. Mr. Bamford, citing work and family commitments, handed in his resignation during a closed session with common council Monday. Mr. Bamford and his wife are expecting their second child. He also owns and operates a small company in the IT sector. Combining family duties and the need to grow his own company with being the mayor's assistant has proven to be just too much for one man to handle. "It was a tough decision," Mr. Bamford said Tuesday. "I loved the job and I loved the work. It was a matter of setting priorities." Mr. Bamford was an integral part of Mr. McFarlane's mayoralty campaign and was named executive assistant soon after the May 2004 election. His contract stipulates that 45 days notice be given and city staff has been instructed to begin the search for a replacement. Mr. Bamford's will be tough shoes to fill.
