The Current: Part 2

New Brunswick Blogger

Membership in the New Brunswick press gallery is pretty much a given for most reporters covering the provincial legislature. There's the Canadian Press, some provincial newspapers, CTV, and -- of course -- The CBC.

But a new breed of journalist is finding it a lot harder to get the credentials and the access other media take for granted. Charles Leblanc is a blogger, activist and point-of-view journalist in Fredericton. Armed with a digital camera and an encyclopedic knowledge of provincial politics, he spends more time covering the provincial capital than many full-time reporters. But, his efforts to become a real member of the press gallery are going nowhere. Charles Leblanc was in Fredericton.

Charles Leblanc covers New Brunswick Politics on his blog at: http://oldmaison.blogspot.com.

NB Blogger – Press Gallery

Dan McHardie is the President of the Press Gallery at the New Brunswick legislature and he was in our Fredericton studio.

NB Blogger Discussion

So are bloggers journalists? And how do journalists fit into the blogosphere? To discuss this, we were joined by two people who do both.

Antonia Zerbisias is a columnist and blogger with the Toronto Star. She was in Toronto. And Garrett Graff is the founding editor of "Fishbowl D.C.," a gossip blog covering the Washington media. He's also a columnist with the "Washingtonian Magazine" and last year he became the first blogger admitted to a White House press briefing. He was in Washington.

You got good publicity but any good thing does not last with you. You manage to screw it. If you behave and get rid of frivolous stuff such as religion thing, pictures of self and doggy pictures you may actually amount to something but then you never listen to good advice. If you are smart then you will listen to your readers for a change. Right now your blog is a mess and completely bizarre. Did you hear the lady blogger that she respects her readers. You insult yours. No wonder no one takes you seriously.

lol...my little blog of God's minute will stay...it's only a tiny little blog!!! Just ignore it......doggy pictures? Anyone can use a good laugh once in a while...

For once give up your stupidity and listen to good advice. Amount to something. You simply do not know how to handle success.

You messed up with Irvings although they bent over backward to accommodate you. You did the same with the legislative staff and now Rogers. They all started off to be helpful but you succeeded to antagonize them.

Lose this LOL sh*t. Smarten up.

Interesting that you are 'insulting your readers' by not listening to ONE reader!

It was a good job, but the biggest issue was not even addressed. Why can't any New Brunswicker ask questions of their government?

If you look at press coverage, clearly the media isn't asking very many questions. The real problem is access to government itself, they are the ones with answers. Just go read the Hansards, the government officials rarely know the answers, they have to ask somebody else.

YOu'll notice NB is the worst province for access to information. The real answers are buried within departments-in a functioning democracy people would be able to find information on whatever its government is doing.

Why do you people even come around here if all you do is berate Charles? Let him blog the way he wants. If you don't like it, leave and keep your rude comments to yourself.

When Chuckie keeps his rude comments to himself and stops slandering people and companies, then people will stop responding. I can't wait until he is finally sued for his behaviour. The day will come.
