Well, I am on welfare and that's the way it is!

As bigot Saint John Police officer asked me in Saint John - DO YOU WORK????

I didn't know in the eyes of Justice it matters if I work or not?

This is the reason a public inquiry of the Saint John Police Force will be important.

I might add that I was told by a lot of people < one this morning > that if I'm found not guilty on Thursday? The Police will get me on the streets.

Gestapo style in New brunswick? I just wish to say that I'm not affraid of nobody!!! If I'm attack??? This will just make me stronger!!!

Ok...I jump the issue here.....any comments that calls moi a welfare bum will be rejected!!!

I just wish to let you cowards know. I still post 98% of the comments but they're getting a little ugly.

I just wish to let you know.....I might be on welfare but I will continue blogging or speak out on Mis-Justice!!!!

Have a good day!!!

Is this a rule against cowards or jerks? If an identified commenter made that type of inflammatory statement would you post it?

I think the debates shouldn't be about you - but about issues.

On the same thread I don't think using rhetoric - such as nazi analogies – helps further debates, it merely angers and ingites debate on words, not on issues.

If you want to address the freedom of the local press it might be best to do so without angering many readers by using terms like Gestapo and Old Germany.

Hey Charles,
Say what you want isnt that what they invented the first ammendment for?
Oh and BTW i am on welfare too, and you know what, after all these years of working and paying my taxes i think its about time i get what I paid into.
Oh and how I found your site? I got sick of this Senator, who owns the buildings I live in who are nothing but slum lords and instead of putting money into these buildings he rather get his middle men to come over and tell me to deal with it or move out. Just because you are on welfare doesnt mean you dont have the same rights as a working person!

Charles,

I wonder how many of your readers are familar with the social assistance system in NB. Maybe if you were to explain to them that you aren't living the high life, they'd give you some slack

I just think that if you have the control to say what you want about the Irvings, the police and anyone in political life, why can the bloggers not say what they want without you intervenign with freedom of speech.

No that calling anyone names is the answer but if you put yourself out there, expect people to be critical as well as supportive. If you pick the comments you post, you essentially pick sides and do not reflect the true opinion of your reading audience. There will always be critics, admit it you are one.

Funny how people judge what they don't know. We are all about a pay cheque away from not able to make ends meet so never judge. Sometimes it takes a death, fire, an illness or loss of a job to bring you down. It is difficult today for people to survive so stop judging what you no nothing about. Charles happy to havr this site; thankyou.

Some people say it is too negative but they have everything going right for them so they don't want the "TRUTH". Honestly don't care about people around them.

Actually, it depends how you define 'abuse'. There is really very little welfare 'fraud', the amounts are just too small. Of course you will find desperate people making up stories or something to get some extra money, but its not like we're talking thousands, and nobody on welfare is living the high life.

But Charles has been pretty lenient as far as this goes. Many bloggers are far prickly and Charles has let it go on quite a bit. It's bad enough he has to read it himself, but it was just getting out of hand.

It isn't a freedom of speech issue at all. If people were threatening or being extremely vulgar it wouldn't be tolerated, nobody says 'oh thats their free speech'. Likewise all the welfare bashing can go elsewhere.

However, once again I will add my voice to the above. We find Charles has no problem being vulgar and being extreme. Urinating on an Irving rock doesn't exactly put the blog on the 'high road'. And likewise if you are going to go around calling people bigots because they supported your expulsion from the leg, then you should be able to tolerate insults thrown your way.

And the Germany thing is on the money. There is no call for that, or for associating Irving with the courts. Not only is that fraudulent, but bad blogging.

I will say it again- When Hitler took power? He took control of the media.

The same thing is happening here in New Brunswick with the Irvings.

It's exactly the same action.

The Irvings don't go around executing people but they deny people from writing letters to the editor!!!

This quote is exaclty right. My husband got laid off in September and we got on assistance until he found something else.

Because of that people have commented on how I am not a decent person and I accept hand outs.

I can't hold my head up high when I cash that damn monthly cheque.

I feel like I am always being judged, and I've been on it for 2 months now.

Its just not fair but its the way it is.
