Yes, this will truly show where New Brunswick is heading.

Bloggers are the way of the future and they could be in big danger after Thursday. If there’s a protest or an accident? The Police Force in New Brunswick will make certain that only Irving’s employees are taking pictures.

If you’re not an Irving employee? You will be arrested and jail.

They will take your camera and delete all your pictures.

Lets not forget one thing? They will also make certain they get rid of all the evidence. The picture part is very important because the Police Force can grab anyone from the street and delete their picture.

This will set up a very dangerous precedent in Canada!!!

This guy name - Duane will be on trial in February for taking pictures of a protest in Fredericton.

You see? There’s lots at stake here!

The Irvings owns all the major newspapers in New Brunswick therefore only Irving’s photographers will be allowed to take pictures.

Two days left and I’m looking forward to it!

My god? There’s even a guy from the middle east writing a story on bloggers being jailed around the world and I’m in one of those chapters.

All eyes are on Saint John on Thursday morning!!!

Police arrested one kook. What it has to do with the rest of bloggers or New Brunswick.

Wish somebody could cut my hair a little more straight though!

Our legal system is set up on a system of precedents. Lawyers refer to previous court rulings in their arguments, and that's what judges base their decisions on. So in the future if you see the police wailing on some guy and take a picture, they can take your camera and jail you for 'obstruction'. In court they will cite this precedent and you are (*&^ing nicked mate. That is not only of use to the general public but especially to bloggers, and while Charles does a good job, he is Charles and is hardly objective. If a blogger were to set up shop and try to be objective the same thing holds.

In other words, it is just as Charles says, only Irvings and CBC will be 'allowed' to take pictures of what goes on in the province. That's why.

Have the police or Crown said the obstruction was Charles taking pictures? If that is not what they contend, he could be found guilty and have no bearing on blogging or photographers in future cases.

Blogging is his defence, it might not be the crown's case.

You were not arrested for blogging CL! Why do you insist on leading your readers on that that is the reason.......

Anonymous said...

Your lawyer called, he wants to give you your retainer fee back.

CL this is a fine mess youve got yourself into and i bet its gonna take alot of time and money to get out of it. Your case will be remanded to a later date that s if the crown doesnt ckicken out and just drop the charges

You mean to tell me...Nobody in Fredericton has to pay for internet service? WOW ! I'm moving up there! Why don't we have that in Saint John?? Who's paying that that??The government?

The Fredericton City government provides the internet service.

As for Charles, of course that's not the courts case, but that's completely irrelevant. 'Obstruction' or 'refusing to disperse' are familiar charges, yet they are completely fabricated by police. People have been arrested for 'obstruction' when attending peaceful rallies.

In this case, the last I heard was that the crowns' case was that the police officer maintains that he 'ordered' Charles to leave. That is what they would try to prove but its irrelevant. If they prove that its true, then the police are harassing bloggers and ignoring other media and even protestors (who weren't told to leave and weren't arrested)

If its false then we have targeted persecution. The police ALWAYS have charges, what is at stake is how easy they can make up stuff to rob people of their liberties.

They say my grammar is bad???? That's ok!!! lol

There's a lot of issues that I haven't blog about my trial.

I told my lawyer that I will concentrate on the issue of deleting my pictures. < around 150 of them > and the fact that I'm a blogger and was there when the action started.

My friends knows the issue and after the trial. I will share theses false statements by the Saint John Police Force in this blog.

In my view? I believe the charges will be drop!! < I hope not!!! >

There's lots at stake here and the Union Police Force are just waiting!!!

Stay tune!!!

You went there as a protester and you were arrested as a protester........having a blog had nothing to do with it.

Own up to your mistakes Charles quit using your blogging as an excuse have fun in court

Even if he went as a protestor that makes no difference. Charles made a point that a cop shouted 'your a troublemaker' (just like the above post, hmmmm). This was verified by many people there.

How many protestors were arrested? Only one or two others, and one apologized and the charges were dropped. In his case he was trying to storm through the doors, and admitted he got carried away and won't do it again. He had no record and the charges were dropped. Charles was nowhere near the doors, certainly not trying to get through them, and was by the other 'media' members. So obviously that's pretty selective prosecution or dozens would have been arrested along with the media members.

I know the facts get in the way of some people's reality, but the above has been verified by many of the people present, some of them media.

So as Charles says, although its too bad he has to blow his own horn (many people simply don't like it when people do that), this very much has to do with police malicious prosecution. If they can get away with it here, they can get away with it anywhere they want. Of course Charles is a troublemaker, that's exactly the point. You think police or government care about imposing on the rights of people who don't DO anything? Hardly.

After the Saint John Police's display of force on election day (boy was that ominous), and the announcement of another refinery, anybody that has any complaints can now see just how they will be handled. In other words, you can no longer even protest, or more accurately, you can protest, you just can't cover the story yourself. What kind of job do you think Irving's media will do covering any protests that my crop up because of the second refinery?
