J. D. Irving, one of Atlantic Canada's largest employers, is holding a series of job fairs in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia in an effort to lure Maritimers back home.

"We're coming up on a wave of retirements that will be occurring and so there are opportunities," said Irving's Mary Keith.
"Our human resources group would have travelled to a number of different locations in Ontario, Alberta, as well as B.C."
The job fairs are called Welcome Home, and Keith says Irving is hoping to attract homesick Maritimers.
"We wanted to make them aware of the fact that there are opportunities here back home and a great way of life and a good standard of living," said Keith.

Keith said the job fairs in Grand Prairie and Fort McMurray, Alta., attracted large turnouts of displaced Maritimers interested in moving back to the region.

It's a good idea. Saint John might do it - or a sponsor might do it on Harbour Passage.
The city is very much into promoting that park.
