Can someone tell me if this is true? No wonder the Irvings bought all the major newspapers in New Brunswick?
They own them all so therefore they can charge whatever they wish,

Again Charles,
You're proving why you're neither a good columnist (that was a great laugh) or a journalist. Instead of taking two minutes to call and find out how much it costs to print an obit, you simply post on your blog something you don't know is true.
I know you'll simply say 'I was just asking' and hide behind that, but the truth is, you wanted the paper to look bad.
If you think its false then call Irvings yourself and ask them, that's what blogging is all about. If somebody told him that, then thats the story. Its well known that Irvings don't give out advertising rates, and they have special rates for their own companies. However, unless this family is rich I doubt they'd pay $500 for an obit.
The 4 Funerals I paid for; was the duty of the Funeral Home to place the death notice and pay for the, "Death Notice" in the newspaper. Ofcourse you pay for a package.
