This is really sad that I've never seen any of these people out at protests involving people DYING yet here they are protesting over samosas! They don't even have the issue straight! Both families who sell samosas at the market are gone on vacation to INDIA! Samosas will be back and then you can fill your greedy pockets with samosas until grease runs down your pant legs.
Listen Kira, People have the choice to attend what ever protest they want. If they want to attend a poor dying protest over the samosas or vice versa that's their choice.
Stop trying to make these people look like bad people. You are starting to sound like Charles.
I'm not saying people can't make their own decisions about what to protest, I'm just saying they're idiots for protesting something like samosas. They are choosing samosa rights over human rights.
I'm sure these people are very nice, but I'd really like to see them on the streets for other issues. I'm sure they must care about other things too.
ok, I've been thinking. Maybe the protest is good and maybe its bad. If people are just protesting because they want samosas (where they can get at many different locations ie underground cafe, kelly's cafe) then that's bad. If they are protesting in solidarity with patel's and samosa delight to try and keep them from getting evicted, (which they aren't but most people seem to think they are) then that's good. Its all in context, which I don't know. Assuming that these people are protesting for the right reason, then I would like to see them out for other demonstrations. If they have the consideration to stand up for the rights of others, then I would hope that samosas isn't where their efforts end.
I am one of those people who protested about samosas, and let me assure you that just because you haven't recognized me at any protests for more serious issues doesn't mean that I haven't been there, or that I don't have a social conscience. Trust me, I realize that there are more important issues out there, but we had a good time standing in front of the market and talking with people, and if we helped convince the market administration to change a bad decision, great.
Our decision to protest the market's decision regarding the Samosa vendors wasn't made because we miss our greasy snack, but rather because we felt that local entrepreneurs were being treated unfairly and penalized for their own success.
