I don’t know if I am going to cross the line with this one?
Yesterday, I was approached in the downtown area telling me that some punk cause some damage in this building.
I forgot the name of the building.

Once I walked through the doors, the people < From Quebec > who runs the building knew that I was a blogger and invited me in their office.
The Underground Café had a band playing downstair the evening before. The washroom is located upstairs.
So everyone used the washrooms.
I watched the video and this guy walks in the washroom.
He stays there for a few minutes and quickly escapes through the back door.
These other punks were seen jumping up trying to hit a light in the hallway.
You could see the people running upstairs once the found out the area was full of water.
This scumbag might have pulled a pipe off the wall!!!
The person who runs the building who are from Quebec would love to know who these individuals are?
Who would have believed the day would arrive that Quebecers and myself would be working side by side to catch these scumbags?

The people in charge of that building would like to have a chat with these punks?
Of course, these punks are innoncent till proven guilty but they would love to chat with these punks.

No, people should call the police. You aren't the police. Or call Crimestoppers to remain anonymous.
Maybe someone doesn't want to call the police or crimestoppers, maybe the cafe ppl wouldn't want that either, and the cafe ppl obviously want charles to help them, because they wouldn't have let him watch and take pics of the surveillance duh!
Why does the fact that the person you are working with is from Quebec? How does that make any difference at all? I don't know if you were trying to be racist, but it sure sounds like it.
First of all, it wouldn't be the Underground Cafa management, it would be the owners of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre since the bathrooms are shared by all tenants. The only reason I can think of for not wanting to get police involved for this vandalism crime is that they want to do some vigilante justice. A person would NOT be anonymous by contacting Charles since he routinely traces IP addresses.
Call the police, that's their job, that's what our taxdollars pay for.
Something tells me you should have been a Narc or CSIS agent, Charles. I think you missed your calling. lol
you must think we're all doe-doe birds on here. I wouldn't give you the tip if I knew! THEN YOU could call Crimestoppers and collect the money instead of me. If I have a tip,I'll call Crimestoppers on my own, thanks, and leave the work to the professionals.

Did it ever occur to you that someone just might bring the pictures here to the attention of the vandals and they might go after YOU??

You know what? I never even taught about Crime Stoppers.
I believe that I was very upset once I heard the news of what happened in that building.
I just wish to do like everyone else and catch that guy.

Not all Quebecers has the same attitude as Dan Bussieres....
Since it was the group who owns the building that contacted him its possible that they wanted Charles help simply to identify the individuals.
If the damage wasn't extensive they may not want the police involved since then their insurance would go up. They may just want to ban the individuals from the building. Its their building, and its their choice. Nobody is forcing anybody to state what they know, merely asking.
Charles, you posted pictures of someone whom you have no idea of who or what they did. I Believe the building management violated the privacy rights of the the people involved. Was this a government building?
Ok, let me set the record straight for all of you as a member of the cafe.
We are trying to find this guy to offer for him to pay for the damages. If he refuses, then the police will be involved. This is moreso in the building's hands than ours, but we're trying to help. If we just give a blurry camera image of this guy, the cops probably won't find him. Crimestoppers isn't involved... Charles isn't trying to 'steal' your money.
About the comment regarding Charles routinely tracing Individuals IP's... Charles does not do anything of the sort. Myself being an IT professional with Irving Oil know that all of our websites track usage data and we use this data to help us improve and make changes to the websites we run. Any webmaster with any sort of common sense does this. The unfortunate thing for anyone who visits a website is that the log file shows us exactly who is surfing our site, what province, time zone, monitor resolution, operating system, web browser and yes ip address are all logged. And that is just the short list. So please educate yourself before making reckless comments about Charles tracing IP addresses. That is pure bullocks. If you want to see where Charles gets his data then click on the visitor counter and look through the various categories of data. Thanks, Chris.

I don't think so. If there are any signs posted that warn visitors of surveillance, their rights would not be violated. And any business has a right to monitor their business for security purposes, which clearly they did.
As for whether Charles should be involved in this or not, why is this any different than a newspaper publishing the photos? Plus, some people might be more comfortable with emailing Charles than contacting the police.
