They have to wait an extra two months thinking that this guy might be freed?

Yes, I sometime wonder about our Justice system but every action must be taken so this so-call murderer will be convicted in the proper fashion.

But 60 days in waiting?

My prayers goes out to the families during this very difficult period.

I was listening to the CTV News World on channel 29 yesterday evening as I do for much of the time. and I must say that this might be about the second or third time I have heard anything on this trial. Mostly the Coverage has been on the Picton Pig farmer trial I feel bad for the mother of Despres, but I feel terrible for the families of the victims the anguash that they have to endure for what, another month or two. What is up with that. Put that game player behind bars, execute him or, let him go. But quite wasting the taxpayers hard earned dollar. This has gone on long enough and the family members on all sides have suffered more then enough.

well the last I knew, we don't execute people in canada and trials are trials to determine guilt/proper punishment, etc., not show proceedings put on for the benefit of the public or to create closure for the families. this is between despres and the government. the issue now really may be whether he goes to prison or a mental institution. I would say Mr. LeBlanc recently benefited from the legal rights we enjoy in Canada (fair trial, right to counsel, etc.)and that is why they are there. In this case, perhaps it is more clear that despres is guilty but it is not so clear in all cases and that's why we have trials. the procedure to be followed in cases like this are set out in the law. Don't like the law? tell your MP's or move to texas where they execute mentally ill people.

I would say that Mr. Leblanc didn't benefit from that at all. If you'll recall he was arrested under false pretences while the prosecution kept the charges on him even though they had no evidence. Meanwhile, his right to legal counsel was denied, he was told to defend himself even though he knows nothing about the legal system. It was only when a lawyer volunteered his services that he got representation.

So I think that's a wake up call for just how precarious rights actually are. Funny how a psychotic murderer gets better representation than a guy who was arrested for only taking pictures.

I don't buy Despres' game and that's exactly what he's playing. Is he nuts? Sure he is but I also firmly believe he knew it was wrong to cut off a man's head killing him and another woman. He fled the scene knowing he had to get away. He's just jerking the family around now. Sure procedure has to be followed and it is but let's call this what it is. Despres playing games to extend this and further torture the families of the victims.

I feel sorry for the families, but it is clear that Despres is completely insane.

How would the families feel if he was convicted and then the conviction was overturned on appeal because he was not fit to stand trial but was made to anyway? If his conviction is overturned he can never be tried again for this murder.

To make it stick, they have to do it right and cross the t's and dot the i's. I know the families are upset - they'd be a lot more upset if the Judge HADN'T sent him for a psych evaluation after the delusional things he's said in the courtroom (Ed Derrah is with al-Quaida???) and his conviction was reversed on appeal because of it.

Let's do things by the book and then lock him up for the rest of his life.

Yes Lets call it just like it is He knew just what he is doing he is in the spotlight right now, he is going to make the most of it Despres has been given a right to a trial and hearing by the system that is what their doing now, but to let this drag on and on for such a long is too much to expect. if the person knows what he or she is doing then they are culpable or guilty under the law. I read the daily gleaner and read the discription of the crime scene that murder whas perpetrated and planed out that grusome of a murder has to be it is just too horific and terrible. and yes there should be the death penalty or Capital punishment for this kind of crime. but only if there is no remorse or sorrow for the crime the individual.

This is part of his game. Just because you don't care about anyone else; he still thinking of himself and what would best suit him. He definitely is using all his intellgence and can scam for awhile. If he was given the truth medication we may get somewhere. Victims are getting victimized by him and the system.

Time we play his game and give him want he wants. He will not win if the justice system is very careful and use all resources to make sure he gets his day soon. Disgusting to have to even give him any justice at all.

He is mot insane but actions are insane to most people; there lies the difference. The jury will see the truth; GUILTY and please have the sentence that reflects his guilt. Hope we see this animal (even the word animal is too kind) put in a hole for life. There will never justice until God judges him. Still do the right thing and put him away for good!

I think my self that someone should hand him a rope and tell him to do what his father did. So the families don't have to endure anymore. So that they move on with there lives without there love ones.
