Charles I think you need to clarify for us exactly what it is you do, and what is the function of this blog. Every time someone posts a comment that is critical of you, the reply is that this is your personal diary, leave the poor person alone. If all of this is just a personal diary, why do you need a press pass to get into everything? If it is supposed to be a publication of some journalistic integrity, then I suggest you need to tone down your personal biases and file your reportage from a more neutral point of view. If this is a pseudo-newspaper, do you have an editorial policy? I am not a lawyer, but I do not think you are very wise to be taking, and posting photographs of random people on the street and forming opinion about them without having any substantiation of anything you are saying. I do not have any problem with this being a personal diary. If it were the case, I would probably have never heard of you or have ever visited it. What I do have a problem with is you veiling yourself as some sort of journalist to push your agenda above everything else. If you think all politicians and ‘bureaucrats’ have a hidden agenda, I suggest you take a good look at yourself, and realize that you can paint yourself with the same brush. Please get out of the way of the people who are actually working to make a difference and let them do their jobs. I am sure they are sick of having a camera shoved in their face every time they want to go out and get a coffee. Why do I have to hear about someone in the news because he has a personal diary on the internet? Your attempts to railroad your issues to the forefront are a hijacking of the democratic process. The function of our democratic process is to form a consensus on what society’s most important issues are and make them our priority. If everyone could call up the Premier every time they take issue with something on a personal level, it would short circuit the entire process.

Thank you anon 423. You hit the nail right on the head.

This is the best comment that I have ever heard on this blog site. Charles you should read this very carefully and follow his or her comments.

Why would it short circuit the so-called 'system'? Why should Jamie or JD Irving be able to call up the Premier or walk into his office for 'their agenda'? Anybody that thinks they can't doesn't know NB very well.

The above poster should do some searching on what a blogger is. That's what his coat says. As far as getting media access, the only difference is that he bothers to ask, nobody else does. In reality, why shouldn't any member of the public be able to question a politician? Don't fault Charles because he bothers to try.

Events and politicians don't let reporters from CBC or Irving get access for free because the people may be nice people, they do it because it gets their message out. For a segment of the population Charles is getting to be another way for events and politicians to get their message out-if they choose to use it.

It doesn't even cost them money, all they have to do is not be an asshole and petty dictator and ban him from public buildings simply because he's talking about issues they may not like.

All they have to do is be what they should be, which is a representative of the people-all the people.

Charles blog focuses on all kinds of things, if he has 'an agenda', it is not hidden, it is stated right up front-namely, let him into the legislature, don't arrest him for taking pictures, treat the poor with dignity.

Anybody that thinks their rights take precedence over the life threatening rights of the poor is free to ignore this site all they want. Far from being hidden, unlike the pop media and politicians Charles states his biases up front, and he doesn't say one thing and do another. He also even lets critics on here to state their mind even when they haven't thought of simply clicking to another site.

As for the photographs on the street, I would agree that Charles should at least be nice and ask first, however, as we've said before, the biggest insult he's thrown at 'bureaucrats' is that they are stuck up. That's clear from anybody who's spent any time in Fredericton, and he makes lots of exceptions, as is clear with the blog today.

Legally there is no way to stop Charles taking pictures on the street. It's a public street.

A legal aspect could come into it as it could perhaps be shown to be 'harassment' on somebody like Dan Brussieres. However, once again, it is Charles right to post his pictures because its a free country. I suspect the government doesn't give him a hard time because his 'agenda' against Dan Brussieres probably costs him some public sympathy in the court of public opinion.

If you really need clarification of what Charles does and the function of the blog, just keep reading and it will become clear pretty quickly. People new to blogging can go check out other sites to see the 'function' of blogs.

anon 423: If you don't like what is one the site, you don't have to visit the site.

There IS a reason for the back button on your browser. Feel free to use it next time you feel the need to tell someone else what to do with their own webite.

OH here we go again. Another day, another negative comment. I love this blog site, Mr. Leblanc, but I'm so tired of this Spinks guy using this site to gain notoriety on his own, let him gain it through his own blog, through his own credentials. You had to start somewhere, Mr. LeBlanc. You did it and you are a success.
All you naysayers on here.I said it yesterday and I will say it today. To all the anonymous cowards. I am on business here in Saint John from Toronto. There are thousands, maybe millions of blog sites out there.
If you don't like this one, move on. There HAS to be another one that you can torment with your complaints. Why always pick on Mr. LeBlanc. This would not be tolerated where I come from.

Um gee Stu, Charles posted this not me. Not sure why you're singling me out but hey that's your business.

Regardless, like a lot of blogs in NB, and a lot of people who discovered blogs, a great deal is owed to Charles regarding blogging in this province. He's helped raise the awareness of it (although he should probably stop getting arrested and banned to do it). I started commenting here in July 2005 and I don't think I'm any different than any of the numerous anonynmous posters here except I put a nickname. Not sure what I did to you personally considering we have never met but I like you fine. :)

Stu
Fredericton is a small town... many people use the anonymous moniker, particularly on Charle's site because they are in fact politicians, even the very ones he comments about... However style, tone and message can often give a hint as to who they might be... its a small town, and probably an even smaller group of blog addicts...
Charles' anonymous key allows many more people the freedom to comment. Sure it can be annoying sometimes, but the ammount of traffic it generates and the comments that follow are worth it.

One problem anonymous 1:12 is that Charles actually believes he is a journalist. So while it might be a good thing for some to look up the term blogger (yourself included) it might not hurt to look up what a journalist is while your at it. As for those who can't seem to stand to read anything in here that is the least bit negative, whose fault is that? This is just a blog after all. Owned and operated by the one and only Charles Leblanc. The bottom line is he has the power to post or not post any thing he so desires. If he wanted he could simply post those loving tender thoughts and fuzzy warm feelings as expressed by some here...but he doesn't. I don't know if he looks over every post or none at all and frankly I don't care. What I do know is that at the very top of this comment page it says the following "Comment moderation has been enabled. All comments must be approved by the blog owner" So for those like sketchpie here's a thought. If you don't like what you read in here then you had better start coming down hard on Charles. He is the one responsible for what your reading. Tell him you don't like seeing these negative comments and stop posting them. Or, as I recall someone saying in here, there does seem to be another popular option....Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it "If you don't like what is on the site, you don't have to visit it"?

Stu? I’m grateful that you come to this blog often and it’s for someone from Toronto to know what’s going on in New Brunswick.

As for Spinks? He’s my hero!!!!

I remember the days that I didn’t moderate the comment section.

MyGod!!!! The comments were nasty and rude.

These vultures came after in vengeance.

I was all alone and helpless. A few came to my defense and the attack continued against Charles LeBlanc.

Then suddenly? Spinks came to the rescue.

Then the attention turned towards Spinks.

I continue blogging issues while Spinks got shot down to death in the old blog.

Many people believe they can start a blog and I’ll blog them?

Sorry! This doesn’t happen too often

Spinks became a blogger and I believe he’s doing pretty good.

His average is going up and many often asked me- Who’s Spinks?

I never met the guy but if I ever do? I’ll give him a little hug...lol

So? Spinks never asked me to blog his site. I just did it because as the old saying goes- You don’t forget who your friends are when you’re down????

...and down I was and Spinks step forward in my defense.

Thanks again for the kind words Stu!!!!

you are very welcome Mr. LeBlanc. I leave the Hilton Saint John tonight back to Toronto. It's been nice. NO, my only beef is this Spinks guy is on here all the time, my fellow Torontonians have remarked about this too in the past, how he appears to be using your blog site to gain his own notoriety.
I uunderstand you chose to blog this particular story about him, but it seems ever time we turn around there's a comment on here from him. It's like the former talk show you had in Saint John, all the same callers everyday, so I heard. I went away to Toronto but everytime I visited Saint John and heard the talk show it was the same old voices.
That's what is happening on this blog. If you don't mind that, hey, Mr. LeBlanc it IS your blog, but if you can take a little, what we perceive as constructive criticism, this Spinks guy dosen't seem to have a whole lot interesting to say. Ho, we don't know him at all, nor do we have anything against him, maybe he's a very lonely guy, he seems to be on here 24/7 plugging his 2 cents worth , that's all, and it gets monotonous after a while.

Boy stu good thing you weren't here in the old days of this blog. I think I've left maybe 10 comments here in the past month if that. Doesn't seem to be much but Charles runs the show. If there's a limit I'll abide by it.

I'll put you down as not a fan.

Just for the record, my comment was directed at Anon 423, I wasn't saying that the comment was from me. I'll be more careful about how I post things in the future.

The anon comments are getting really annoying....
