Some people were offended by the title shot Barbie Doll?
Well? I’m sorry but what the heck does these pictures mean anyway?
Voted the MLA’S for best looking female
MLA!!!
Ok . . . This means - Barbie Doll!!!
I rest my case....
Ok.... never mind that!!!
The reason that I’m upset with Margaret Ann Blaney is the way she’s confronting the other female MLA Carmel Robichaud in the Legislature.
She’s trying to make Carmel look like a fool and I don’t like it.
Of course, I haven’t read or followed questions period since I’ve been banned from the Legislature.
I am not interested whatsoever.
They’re all the same but I must make this comment.
I truly remember the first instance Margaret Ann Blaney got elected and was appointed transport Minister. Across the floor was the great Sheldon Lee and he would ask Margaret some straightforward questions.
Barbie Doll had too asked the bureaucrats around her for some answers.
Now? The Legislature has only been in session for 20 days so therefore Carmel Robichaud is new on the job.
I suggest that Margaret Ann Blaney gave Carmel a chance to learn the trade of Minister in the legislature.
They’re always crying that more women should be elected as MLA’S.
Well, this is not the way to encourage the female population to join in.
I believe that Barbie Doll should back off and give Carmel a break.
But I’m the guy who was ban from the New Brunswick Legislature so what do I know?

Carmel Robichaud isn't new on the job. She's been appointed minister october 3rd 2006. That's more than five months ago.
I am no fan of Carmel Robichaud due to her unwillingness to address her using her MLA position to try to get leniencey for a couple of convicted drunk drivers BUT Blaney has crossed the line trying to paint the Liberals as anti-women. The Libs may be a lot of things lately such as tax raisers and election promise breakers but anti-women because certain criteria is needed to qualify for a grant for university? That same criteria affects men too, something Blaney left out. I'm disappointed in Blaney...again.
If you think there all the same and aren't interested why are you talking about it? You say she's making her look like a fool, how is that? You are calling an elected member names and making claims that you don't substantiate. I remember when the blog was about events and not just your opinions of things you say you aren't interested in in the first place.
Pretty funny Charles Leblanc suggesting someone should back off and give someone a break. I little do as I say not as I do'ish don't you think?
TJ Burke is also in one of those pictures. What those pictures say is that shes a politician looking for a photo op, which is part of the job. I quite agree with the above, can you imagine Charles Leblanc telling somebody to "back off"! That is pretty funny when you think about it. Either one of two things is happening, if the accusations are groundless then shes just making herself look foolish, and shes not your representative, so obviously if she did this before then its fine by her constituents. Or else shes made points that make her opposition look foolish. Either way, thats politics as usual. If you arent interested in politics that doesnt mean you try to stop politicians from doing their job.
Just because Minister Robichaud is "new" doesn't mean she shouldn't take the heat. As the old saying goes: If you can't play with the big dogs, stay on the porch. Heck, Brian Mulroney was thrown the Manitoba Schools issue before he, in his words, "knew where the washroom was". This is politics, not hopscotch. The learning curve is steep, and the people are unforgiving. Carmel Robichaud cashes her ministerial cheque, and thus should be willing to take the ministerial punches.
As for the Barbie business: No need. Charles, you have it wrong. Women don't stay out of politics because of the tough questions. They stay out of politics because people like you, and Roly McIntyre, judge the book by the cover. Look at what Belinda Stronach has been called throughout her career. Why would any rational woman want a piece of that?
It pays pretty damn good for little work is why:)
"little work"?
That is one of the most ignorant -- as in, uninformed -- comments I've seen on this site in a while.
And that's saying something.
Go cut wood for a whole day and them follow around your MLA for a day and see what real work is. Sitting around shooting off your mouth, chatting with people, and reading isn't work. If it were, Charles would be a millionaire.
Charles,
The issue isn't whether or not Blaney is or isn't a barbie doll. The problem is that it dismisses Blaney for being a woman. If she's wrong about Carmel, then she's wrong, and it has nothing to do with her being a woman.
It's not acceptable to make sexist comments about a woman in politics. It's fine to disagree with women, but the fact that she is a woman is not relevant.
Her sex, race, religion, first language, or eye colour are all irrelevant. I think Roly is a decent man, but I'm very disappointed with this comment.
Yes the comment was wrong but stop playing the poor me part. More on there are worse things that happen to people each day and because they don't have the Barbie look they are frowned upon.
Smile and bite the dust because frankly we don't care.
When someone going to discuss important issues.
We need to get a law changed for sex rapers. Ten years is the max they can give a man who rape a young girl since she was nine until she could get help.
Thanks but he got six years; I don't know this girl but she could be anyone daughter; Someone has to get a better law. If it was my daughter I would have to make sure he had a life sentence in Hell now! This poor girl has receive torture for years and noone seems to can about all the young gorls and boys that it happens too. the Law is out dated and it sickens me.
Who care how nice people are when they can commits such terrible acts.
No excuse is acceptable.
There are lots of other issues, that doesnt mean this isn't important. We don't know what you are talking about so can't judge. If you want to cite the case and send it to Charles then as he says, he'll blog it. If you don't think this is important, dont add messages to it, but don't tell others what to be interested in.
