ANDREE GUY MUST HAVE ROCKS IN HER CLOSED-MINDED HEAD????

I must admit this individual really pissed me off!!!!

A few months ago, Andree Guy from the Addiction and Mental Health Services with the Department of Health told the media the person who wishes to be on Methadone can go to Anger Management while they wait for this much needed helpful treatment for Drug addiction.

I wonder if these addicts feel That Anger Management will not be successful in getting these poor souls off of drugs; it seems like many bureaucrats are very uneducated as to what it takes to help addicts get clean.

Dealing with issues like anger is certainly something that addicts must do, but it is almost impossible for addicts to deal with such issues while they are still a practicing addict.

After chatting with an addict who told me - “ As an addict who has now been clean for two years, I know that looking at these issues is absolutely necessary if an addict wishes to stay clean. The problem, however, is that the addiction problem must be addressed before an addict can look into their background and their lives to discover what the reasons for their addiction are.”

With addictions such as opiates (which is the drug family that methadone maintenance treats) a person’s mind while they are practicing is on anything BUT dealing with anger or depression or whatever the case may be.

The body and mind of a practicing addict is in such turmoil and pain that the only thing an addict can think of is to get rid of the sickness and pain of withdrawal.

Once the withdrawal is taken care of and the addict is stable enough to tackle the problems which led to their use, then, and only then, will programs, such as Anger Management be useful to their recovery.

These bureaucrats must have rocks in their heads on this very emotional issue. They must educate themselves on this issue before they speak to the media.

Bureaucrats such as Andree Guy should be ashamed of themselves!

No wonder there’s 700 people < Who want help? > on the waiting list and 600 are enrolled in the program!!!!!

Closed-minded bureaucrats SUCH AS Andree Guy one shouldn’t be in charge of an issue when they don’t know what the heck they’re talking about!!

Shame yerself Charles. What she said was that addicts can go to anger addiction while waiting to get into the program. She didn't say they can do it instead of the methadone program.

In that interview the woman also said that if they could, those bureaucrats would put every person who came in on the methadone program.

So once again you just 'blame the messenger' and attack bureaucrats for something that's a funding problem.

The funding dollars comes from politicians who decide where things get spent.

It's elected politicians who make those decisions, not bureaucrats who have to work with what they are given. I notice you virtually never even mention politicians anymore in your blog, even though they've been sitting for two months, instead, you gripe and get angry at bureaucrats. Where's your friend the wonderful Abel Leblanc with some funds for these poor people on methadone?

I stand by my blog. The way she said it was like- You know? There's always Anger Management???

Methadone should be the most important way to treat these people who steps forward.

I might be wrong but I doubted it!!!

hahahahahaha. "I might be wrong but I doubt it". Come on give me a break, I think you are a little full of yourself. I think that your blog is getting to your head.

Anon 9:49pm is right it's a funding issue there is simply not enough money available to put all those people on the waiting list in the program. Hey maybe if you got off welfare and got a real job that would free up some money for those people to get help.

"I might be wrong but I doubt it"? What the heck was that? What makes you an expert on this subject? You are seriously loosing it.

As for shame, this is a person who works day in and day out for addicts. Tone down the hostility and ask her for an interview if you want to be useful.

Most of what is said isn't 'wrong', because you repeat what was said in that interview.

However, to blast somebody because you don't like their tone is irresponsible. You can't tell anything from that.

Where you ARE wrong, is right here:

"They must educate themselves on this issue before they speak to the media."

You actually think they have rocks in their heads? You actually think that this woman doesn't know anything about addiction? Have you talked to her? Then how about YOU educate yourself on that issue by talking to some people in the ministry.

"No wonder there’s 700 people on the waiting list and 600 are enrolled in the program!"

You actually think that what this woman believes or doesn't believe has an effect on waiting lists? That's funding, even the woman you interviewed told you that.

You've got a recorder, ask her for an interview, find out what she knows. Are you just looking for as many enemies as possible? Even the woman you interviewed said that the bureaucrats aren't the problem, even though you kept trying to get her to say that they were. It's those politicians you conveniently ignore. It seems that every other blog is now talking about politics EXCEPT this one, and this used to be where everybody went to find out what was going on.

Come on Charles, step up to it. Are you trying to make it so that these people won't be interviewed? Maybe she would have said no, but now you've guaranteed that she and anybody else in there would say no. Even though this is a very important issue and one people should have much more information on.

Charles.....and you told me last night that blogging about politics was a waste of time. Seems like someone just told you, eh? get back into the political spectrum....thats where all the fun is these days.

I saw the interview and it was the way she used her words.

Such as - Well? There's many other programs such as Anger Management a person can take.

Another word? Methadone is not the most important issue to the addcits.

Rocks in her head? I'm allowed to ask a question do I????

This is Canada!!!

Sadly? A blog like this one will received a lot of comments but the blog of the Canadian soldiers who died?

Received none???

Very sad....

Yes the blog about the soldiers is a very sad one and my condolences goes to the families. The reason nobody wrote anything is to give respect to the families by leaving them grieve in peace.

Something you don't know anything about. Prime example is the way you put your nose in the business of the Minto murder family. Check your past blogs, you even said it yourself that the main stream media told you to leave them alone that they have a spoke person and that you need to conduct yourself with professionalism and what do you do? You go strait to the family and you were told to back off.

RESPECT you need to give people RESPECT. I agree with the poster above I seriously think that you are looking for enemies by the way you put blame on innocent people that are just doing their jobs and calling them names and accusing them of various things. Yea keep it up and you are going to meet your match someday. Someday someone will put you in your place. And when that happens remember this blog and how people tried to tell you that you are harassing people, being verbally abusive and you have a serious lack of RESPECT for people.

You constantly expect people to treat you and the poor with respect and fairness which I totally agree with you, but like the old saying goes "do onto others as you would like done to you".

Yes, it is a matter of respect, however, the spokesman for the Dupres family certainly didn't sound like he had a problem with Charles, he seemed more than happy to talk.

For the soldiers there is really nothing to say, its unfortunate for many reasons, one of which is that its virtually impossible to say anything bad about the 'war' because people see it as a sign of disrespect. It's an insult to these families to see some of the smarmy comments from politicians. Harper made a talk that just sounded like he was pissed off that soldiers dared be killed while he was glorymongering one of the worst battles of the first world war while tax dollars were used to take thousands of students on a field trip. On some blogs people are even making ludicrous comments like 'they are part of us and we of them'-go tell that to the families, in another week you'll have forgotten about them because you didn't even know them. The only thing canadians can do is demand the government get canadians out of there and tell the US to protect their own damn oil so that this doesn't become a weekly occurence.

Charles said it all, we've got to get out of there. But don't change the subject because the respect line is appropriate. If the 'way' somebody said something ticks you off, thats partly the way you hear it, because we know you have it in for bureaucrats from the outset.

This isn't a criticism of what you do, but how you do it. You don't have an editor so you do have to count on the comments section somewhat. Keep in mind that most people here support you and want you to be even more successful, not less. "Pride goeth before destruction" is a good line to remember, as well as the 'do unto others'. There is a way to challenge people's statements and issues without resorting to base insults.

well i guess she really does not know what drug addicts are because they will do anything to get their stuff and i mean anything from killing to stealing even making some drugs ,dealing etc and if they get on the methadone plan and the methadone is covered by the province (which most of the time is not) it might stop lot of the mad rampage we are having lately in NB

Hi! This is the Andrée Guy, the one with rocks in her head. Very interesting comments. Thank you every one for your comments which were more reflective of the reality I was in. Words are what they are, words...word can mean many things and have one definition but they also come with intentions...for example "white house" are two words....but I am sure the white house you see in your mind is not the same as the one the other person sees, yet we are using the same two words. The intentions you gave to my words were inaccurate. I am sorry you were pissed off by my words but I will not apologize for the intentions you gave them. Don't you think I was not pissed off about the whole dam situation....do you think I had any power, any authority??? Don't you think I did not fight every single working hour to improve things??? Do you really think I do not know what suffering is and I do not care?? Critical judgment is necessary to properly analyze any situations or to come to a conclusion about a person. I do want to thank all those who used their critical judgment and dare challenge your way of judging people. And I pray to god that you never sit on a jury deciding if a person is guilty or not of a crime he/she did not commit for with your lack of critical judgment that person may get the death penalty for nothing. By the way, what have you done to help the people suffering from an addiction problem?
