Hey piss off. If I want to wait in line I can it's my choice and I am not nuts I am completely sane. I said hi to you while you were taking pictures, I never said anything bad to you and I have never written any bad comments on your blog site and now you call me nuts! You are a waste of tax dollars and next time I will not let you take a picture of me I might tell you off.
I believe they're nuts too, but come on, that's not much of an insult. The world is full of nuts and nobody gets hurt by people standing in a line, and it helps out a local business. I still think they're nuts though, but when I see people standing in line at Tim Hortons I think they're nuts too. I don't think that's anything to swear about, especially coming from Charles, who is the biggest nut of all. I notice Dan Brussieres will be a 'tough nut to crack', nut is just the word de semaine.
It just goes to show that the samosa dealers ACTUALLY could care less about their customers. If they did... they would have opened their own establishment many years ago.... and not LEAVE THEIR CUSTOMERS WAITING IN THE COLD!!!
Think about it.
They are purely in it for the money.
A farmer's market is meant to highlight and show local artisans, craftspersons, and home made goods /food products.
It is not meant for people like Samosa Delight, to come and operate a yearly business that creates revenue of almost a quarter of a million dollars, each and every year... for their business... and tramples on and disrespects the other people that sell stuff at the market.
These people openly admit that they sell over 7000 samosas per weekend market. That does not include all the places that sell their samosas during the week... especially at all the various places around Fredericton?
HOW MANY SAMOSAS, DO YOU THINK THEY SELL AT THE UNIVERSITIES, EACH AND EVERY SCHOOL YEAR? ANOTHER QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS?
If you go as far as Oromocto, you will see hundreds of their samosas, in the stores and gas stations. The guy peddles thousands more at the hospital where he works and the base there. (MAYBE HE SHOULD BE SENDING OUR TROOPS SOME BOXES OF SAMOSAS and give something back to those customers who have supported them for years!!!)
You do the simple math.
Any one that pays attention and observes their surroundings can see it for themselves.
Don't get me wrong.
Kudos to their business endeavors... but should they not get their own store when they make so much profit?
What are they giving back to the community besides expensive samosas? EXPENSIVE? Ever seen what it cost to make a samosa when buying bulk ingredients? Ever seen what a samosa cost in the far East? PENNIES!
Can they not spare some of that $250,000 profit per year... on leasing a spot for their own business?
Do they not want to pay the required taxes?
Are they cheapskates?
They send all their local made money out of country?
I guess you need a lot of money if you have no faith in this country and the medicine provided... to where you have to go to a hospital in England.
They could care less about putting money into the local economy.
Where do they get their paper products from?
Canada is a leader in paper products... bet the bags are from China.... so they can save an extra buck!
And now... they might have to pay more rent at the market?
Cry away... cry away samosa dealers.... you will only raise your prices on your product to satisfy your money hungry greed for the almighty dollar!
Personally... if I made a quarter of a million a year off of samosas... I would at least sell something that did not taste like crap and is as dry as eating plaster!
MAYBE THAT IS WHY THERE ARE SO MANY OJ DEALERS!!!
WHY all the free publicity in all of the Irving owed media franchises?
DO IRVING EMPLOYEES GET FREE SAMOSAS?
Samosa bribes... what's next?
The Samosa Mobile?
Wonder what the poor people that peddle samosas in any city of India would think of these people and their samosa business?
NOW THAT... is an interview I would like to hear you do Charles.
Use the interweb and reach out and find some poor samosa dealer in New Delhi!
Wow, there's a rant. First though, I'm sure somebody else will mention that Mr.Patel was at a hospital in England because he had a stroke in India. Correct?
No doubt somebody else will add that this brings people into the market, and so far they've been pretty accomodating of the problems. As to why not open a store or restaurant that would be a tough go. There is a huge markup on a restaurant overhead, and with only one staple product it doesn't make much sense.
You can't fault somebody for their success. If people will line up for them, that's hardly their fault. Canada may be a lumber exporter, but I've never seen anywhere that they sell paper bags, most mills are into kraft paper and now glossy print paper.
Hopefully they will start exporting to other areas. Samosas are everywhere at restaurants in ontario, but are rare at grocery stores. That's a niche that will be filled in time by a British Columbia or California company, so hopefully these guys will grow and get into exporting. Vegetarian samosas are especially popular.
Actually the Iyengars do have a store. It's called Samosa Delite and it's a catering business mainly. The Patels also had a store for a while (the Kwik Way downtown) but sold it.
As for what they give back to the community, how about hiring recent immigrants that no one else will hire, helping them to learn English and get some job experience, and giving them a good impression of the province? That is a pretty valuable service as more immigrants to NB means GOOD THINGS.
If you think the samosas taste like crap, don't buy them. Also, I would say 75 cents for something most people think is delicious is a pretty good deal. Sure, from a street vendor in India it would be pennies. Well, if I was in Costa Rica buying fruit from a street vendor, it would be a lot cheaper than it is at the market. WE LIVE IN CANADA. This is the minority world. Things cost a little more. Deal with it.
The samosa vendors are not doing anything wrong. They have every right to be in the market - they are selling local, homemade items just like everyone else there. If you don't like it, move to India.

Sorry about that. It was just a matter of speaking.
Maybe I'm nuts not to stay in line to buy one?
I didn't mean any harm by using the word - Nut.
It was just a matter of speech!
No harm done!

Hi Charles, anonymous 10:56 here. Apology accepted. Thanks for saying your sorry it takes a person with a kind heart to say that.
