Someone who has refused to leave his or, her name and will not support our brave men and women in Uniform who are fighting for his or, her freedom and mine should be found guilty of Treasen, and by the way in case your not aware, the Crime of Treasen is still Punishible by a severe penalty.

So be extremely careful when you say that you will not support our Brave men and women who give their lives for our freedom and so we as a nation can live in peace.

I am a Patriot and if my two blind eyes had sight I would enlist right now and defend this Nation against her enemies if you will not support This Country, and her traditional Values and support our Troops then you are an enemy of Canada. and you should be tared and feathered and run out ot this Nation on a Rail. You don't like comment then too bad.

They are not fighting for our freedom and thats the problem. But its a free country, its ironic that you think people should be punished for exercising their rights, isn't that what you just said they were fighting for?

Hmmm...a disturbing thought. Honour the men that fight (and have fought) for our freedom to choose and live as we wish...or I'll ride you out of the country on a rail... Interesting traditional values you have there michael. I am glad to not be a part of your family circle...

It is one thing to say that you do not support the Government's position on the War on Terror, but it is another thing entirely to say that you do not support the men and women who give their lives and life's blood so you can say what you want. oh and by the way, remember this, you would not be able to speak the way you are speaking if you lived in a Muslim Country you wouldn't be alive for long if you said that you would not support what that Country's Policy concerning the Military battles. they would shut you up real quick or, cut your head off. So remember who is fighting to keep you and I free. I do apologize for my last comment being quite strong and intolerant, but when I hear statements that you will not support our troops but you will live in the freedom that they pay for with the life's blood and sweat. then I have to say something.

A very pertinent question to ask is what exactly 'support the troops' actually means. As stated elsewhere, currently what is killing canadian troops is "operation achilles" which is an 'offensive' that was requested by the Afghani Government.

That is far different than 'keeping the peace' which would enable development to take place. Instead, the forces are hunting down the people who protect farmers opium crops. According to many sources while Taliban used to ban opium, they are now using it as a fundraising tool and of course since the west isn't developing the region, farmers only have opium funds to survive on.

So think about it, if you were a farmer who could only grow, say, tobacco, in order to survive, and there was a group that was protecting you and your crop, and a group that was destroying your crop, who would you support?

The phrase "support our troops" is a way to silence dissent. Virtually no sane person would ever say "i want physical harm to come to canadians", and I've never come across any that does.

However, its one of those phrases that can mean anything-or nothing. There are lots of things that can be done for soldiers, for example 'ex soldiers'. However, I notice there was next to no outcry as government successively lowered pensions, and cut off home care.

But nobody should ever give blanket support for a military. People said 'support our troops' in Somalia, and then it was discovered that SOME were doing horrific things to the population there, and there are numerous books on the subject. Do people support those things? Of course not.

To say they are protecting OUR freedoms is ludicrous. The taliban never had any interest in canada. Since 911 it has been the case that freedoms have successively been taken away from canadians.

They are sometimes protecting Afghani's freedoms, but not ours. And in cases like this Operation Achilles they are not doing that.

Moreover, as numerous people attest, the offensives they currently undertake merely make the problem worse, not better. Which is one of the reasons why there is a huge worldwide protest against US activities abroad which has now made it far harder to bring peace.

Take a look at Gwynn Dyer's article today in the paper, where he talks about how virtually every arab country is now on the verge of civil war which will bring in far more strict "islamo fascists" than currently govern. This was all predicted long ago, which is why, as they say, war solves nothing.

Meanwhile, some of the worst monsters like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are considered close allies.

So 'support our troops' can mean any number of things, but nobody talks about it because just mentioning it has the affect of sounding like it implies that support ISN"T being given. That's of course far from the case. Soldiers don't create policy, and when they have to enforce BAD policy, then they can still be criticized even while supporting them. Sticking a bumper sticker on a car is a pretty light means of support, virtually every town has an organization designed to support military and their families, and I can guarantee that there are now families who will be financially strapped, so donations would definitely be welcome. If a person has to deal with the emotional loss of a spouse, they should not have that exacerbated with worrying about finances.

In Ontario there was a report that military children are not getting psychiatric help, however, there's been little mention of that in the media in NB. Anybody know what the story is?
