A Maine company is proposing an ambitious project that could take thousands of trucks off New Brunswick highways.
Cianbro Corp. wants to build a private 350-kilometre toll highway for truckers heading west from Calais, Maine, on the New Brunswick border, to the Quebec-Maine border.
The road would cut approximately five hours from the trip from Calais, to Montreal, said Peter Vigue, president of Cianbro. The drive currently takes at least 10 hours.
