AFTER A SIX YEAR PUBLIC BATTLE?? THE ISSUE OF RITALIN MIGHT FIND SOME CLOSURE IN NEW BRUNSWICK CANADA!!!

I saw this little note on television this morning-

It is better to live one day as a Lion that 100 years as a sheep!!!

I believe this statement suits me just fine!!!!..lol

As I wrote in the past, we live in a very small Province so therefore Billionaires such as the Irvings can get away with murder.
The first step is to hire opinion makers to spread their views on certain issues such as what’s going on as we speak at Universite de Moncton and Saint Thomas. The Irvings gave 2 Million dollars to train these young journalists so they will be brainwash the Irving way.
The second step is to educate or brainwash the public with their views so they will side with the Irving way!
For example - The time that I protested in front of the Evil Irving Empire, the Irving reporter wrote a story that I was fired on three different occasions which was a lie and I was allowed to write a letter to the editor but the damage has already been done. The readers were brainwashed by the Irvings lies!!!
The third way

is to make certain that the bureaucrats or Politicians are on their side! What the Irvings are doing is very simple. They made up a section in the Moncton Transcript call - Sleuth! This is a section of the paper that will crucify anyone who dares to go against the Irving Empire!
You will be surprised how many readers can be brainwash by the opinion makers of a newspaper?
Speaking of opinion in a paper. I got my little view printed in the Daily Gleaner < Irving paper > yesterday!
This is the only Irving own paper that will allow me to write my views freely in a democratic system!
Here’s the little comments from me. It’s a comment from 15 different people. The question was - Will you miss the NHL? My answer-
Nora Valentino, Fredericton.

Personally, I will not miss the NHL.

I used to love hockey but after watching a bunch of
millionaires play a sport, it went on a downward
trend. I like football.

It's a risky sport and if they made $10 million a year
- no problem.

As an outspoken citizen like me, what I will miss is
Don Cherry. Don Cherry is my hero.

- Charles LeBlanc, Fredericton.

Do you miss the NHL??? Let me know???
Ok….The issue of Ritalin might find some closure in the very near future.
Yesterday, I bumped into a P.C. MLA in the Legislature. I love the Legislature, politicians cannot go nowhere without bumping into their worst nightmare and that would be me! …lol…
I won’t disclose the politician name but he told me that there’s talk of the Education and Health Standing Committee to study the issue of Ritalin in New Brunswick!
The individual told me that he had to leave the meeting once my name was mention?
I replied- What? You left when my name was mentioned??..lol…
Anyway…things are looking good.
Around 15 minutes later, I bumped into another P.C. MLA outside of the Legislature.
I guess these politicians are not safe outside either.
I won’t mention the politician name but I will admit that it was a bad place to chat because of the cold winter winds gusting between the buildings.
Anyway? He told me that my name was mention for a committee to study the issue of Ritalin!
I quickly said- My Name??? My name shouldn’t be mentioned for the need of a committee!
The 10,000 people who signed my petition should be mention but not my name!
He quickly answered- Good point!
Well? It is a good point because this has nothing to do with me! This is an issue for the 10,000 kids around this province who are forced to take Ritalin! This has nothing to do with me!
I pray that these politicians don’t even think about me once they debate if a committee should study the issue of Ritalin because lets be honest here.
It’s not every elected officials who likes Charles LeBlanc! Some Politicians hate my guts but that’s ok with me because if everyone had the same way of thinking? It sure would be a boring world!
I guess just maybe the Lord Government might study the issue of Ritalin but lets see what’s going to happen during the next few days.
From what I gathered - The Premier has the final word on this issue!
I said it before and I will say it again! If Frank McKenna would have been the Premier, the issue of Ritalin would have been studied a long time ago.
Speaking of Premier? Bernard Lord will be a guest on Voice of the Province this evening at 8:00pm and I suppose myself and the Premier will go at it again!!!
My God? We must have debated this issue on 30 different occasions on live Talk show since the first time he was elected Premier but tonight I’m going to use a different approach with Mr.Lord!!!
Did you know there’s 8 million Bloggers in the information Highway????
Read this story? I hope this doesn’t happen to me?..lol It’s a story from the BBC!!!!

Iran jails blogger for 14 years

Millions of Iranians view the internet as a place to express themselves
An Iranian weblogger has been jailed for 14 years on charges of spying and aiding foreign counter-revolutionaries.
Arash Sigarchi was arrested last month after using his blog to criticise the arrest of other online journalists.
Mr Sigarchi, who also edits a newspaper in northern Iran, was sentenced by a revolutionary court in the Gilan area.
His sentence, criticised by human rights watchdog Reporters Without Borders, comes a day after an online "day of action" to secure his release.
Iranian authorities have recently clamped down on the growing popularity of weblogs, restricting access to major blogging sites from within Iran.
A second Iranian blogger, Motjaba Saminejad, who also used his website to report on bloggers' arrests, is still being held.
'Illegal and incompetent'
A spokesman for Reporters Without Borders, which tracks press freedom across the globe, described Mr Sigarchi's sentence as "harsh" and called on Iranian President Mohammed Khatami to work to secure his immediate release.
"The authorities are trying to make an example of him," the organisation said in a statement.

The eyes of 8m bloggers are going to be more focused on Iran since Sigarchi's sentence, not less

Curt Hopkins,
Committee to Protect Bloggers
"By handing down this harsh sentence against a weblogger, their aim is to dissuade journalists and internet-users from expressing themselves online or contacting foreign media."
In the days before his arrest Mr Sigarchi gave interviews to the BBC Persian Service and the US-funded Radio Farda.
Iranian authorities have arrested about 20 online journalists during the current crackdown.
They accused Mr Sigarchi of a string of crimes against Iranian state, including espionage, insulting the founder of Iran's Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei, and current Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Mr Sigarchi's lawyer labelled the revolutionary court "illegal and incompetent" and called for a retrial in a public court.
Web campaign
Mr Sigarchi was sentenced one day after an online campaign highlighted his case in a day of action in defence of bloggers around the world.

Around 8m people write blogs on websites based around the world
The Committee to Protect Bloggers designated 22 February 2005 as Free Mojtaba and Arash Day.
Around 10,000 people visited the campaign's website during the day. About 12% of users were based in Iran, the campaign's director told the BBC News website.
Curt Hopkins said Mr Sigarchi's sentence would not dent the resolve of bloggers joining the campaign to help highlight the case.
"The eyes of 8 million bloggers are going to be more focused on Iran since Sigarchi's sentence, not less.
"The mullahs won't be able to make a move without it be spread across the blogosphere."

Pretty scary stuff eh??? Hey? The Bloggers are the way of the future and that’s the way it is!
I went to the Soup Kitchen last night and the place was full! I am sorry that I can’t give you the amount but it must be over 100!
Ok…enough writing for today. Excuse the style and grammar of this update because I just write the darn thing and send it along the information Highway! Here’s some comments from some readers, I received during the last 24 hours!!!!!

1-Very interesting discussion. Nothing is sure in life.Liberals could be bad too.Let us face it that Liberals are no saints even if they would like you to believe when in opposition. However, indifference and inhumanity shown by Lord and his government on numerous issues is unprecedented including Ritalin issue. That is why Lord and associates are unworthy to be government. One can only hope that Liberals will not be that dumb to completely ignore the wishes of those who elected them.

2-I Like it pretty cool

3-Charles,

Hope this doesn't happen to you.

Look at this site...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4292399.stm

4-Look at the number of children who died under the care of the province as it was reported in The Daily Gleaner.
John Ryan Turner, a Miramichi toddler, starved to death. Jacqueline Dawn Brewer, a two-year-old Saint John girl, died from lack of water. Courtney Summer Grimmer, a three-year-old from Fredericton, was shaken or squeezed to death.

Then of course Heather White committed suicide. These are the high profile cases. There may be many more cases because of Ritalin, other drug abuse and neglect. Part of the problem is that social workers are overworked. A report suggests 177 more social workers are needed. Huntjens says he took care of the problem by hiring secretaries for social workers. Can you believe this? What a way to take care of the problem.

5- I think this is a much better format than before. It looks very
professional and the information is easier to find. YES, YOU ARE A
BLOGGER.

6- Sure,,,something different and professional looking!

7- Yep..!! Can u help me with a little French-to-English
translatuion..."Le
Baiser de L'Hotel de Ville....." I get City Hall, but Le Baiser has me
stumped..Thanks.. DOES ANY READER OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP ME WITH THIS ONE????

8- Charles,

j'ai pas le temps de visiter ton site longtemps, mais comme on dit à
Memramcook, "ça look nice".

9- WOW! that's alot of Ritalin! ******** bunch of Ritalin junkies!? When will they ever learn!? Are these the future drug, addicts???????

10- 10,000 signatures are lot of signatures in a small province like ours. Lord government ignored them all. You spent 6 months in a tent and towards the end in bitter cold and yet no movement by this government on the issue of Ritalin. What happened to compassion and humanity? You must be commended what you did. Sorry cannot commend Lord and his Government.

11- Like it a whole bunch...
Can check out your updates whenever I like without having my e-mail
account
clogged up..
Good concept..

12- works for me:)

13- yes, much easier to read.

14- You seem to be defending Bernard Lord and his government saying that all politicians are alike. Did he not tell you before 99 elections that he would do something about Ritalin and after elections it was up to the doctors. That is a very poor reflection on the character of a leader. When you ended the protest you were given assurances that something would be done about the issue of Ritalin. Nothing is done so far. Again very poor reflection on the leadership qualities. If a person does not keep his words then you are saying it is ok because the person in question is a politician. We must hold our leaders to the highest standards because they are role models for our society. If a leader lies then what kind of role model that will be.

15- Just like you this person wishes to remain anonymous for some very definite reasons. However, do notice some very serious problems in this province. There is a lack of leadership. Our finances are a mess. Our healthcare is a mess. Our senior care is in a crisis. Poor, homeless are being ignored. Then of course there is serious drug abuse problem and Mr. Leblanc will give you an earful on that one, people committing crimes and suicide. There is general mismanagement. It is a one big nightmare. The gentleman who has the site http://bernardlordsucks.blogspot.com/ may be interested in a new site as he has serious problems with Lord Government and by the looks of it very genuine problems. Do not know the person just guessing from his site that he may be interested. Who knows you may make history although sometimes real heroes remain unknown. You have chosen to remain unknown.

16- I am interested in helping someone with the time and energy to create a site. It takes a great deal of my time so anyone willing to put fourth the commitment must treat it as such... Here are some questions that I have though...

-Let me know why you are interested in taking on this venture?
-How much time do you realistically feel you can contribute to this
site on a daily or weekly basis?
-How comfortable are you with using computers?
-Let me know a bit about you...

I have already registered the domain http://recallbernardlord.blogspot.com but as is commented on above willing to use a different blog address as well. My first committment is Charles and making sure this site is a success but can be convinced to administer another blog. Please feel free to email me with your ideas, comments, concerns and anything else that may interest you...

Regards,

17- To: VCIE

To have another site is a great idea. If Mr. Leblanc does not agree then there is another site http://bernardlordsucks.blogspot.com/ the contact information is on the site and may be that gentleman will agree to be the moderator. His site is neat with very humorous and short blogs but with a dead serious message.

This site is neat. Mr. Leblanc is very dedicated and persistent advocate for proper treatment of ADHD and for study of Ritalin use. But it is a single-issue blog. To find comments is quite difficult as updates are very long.

By the way you do create great sites. Keep up this outstanding work.

18- Charles, I just read the first part of your message about your friend who 'prays' you'll do something useful with your life. I hope you let her know that you already have done more than many people accomplish for their society in a lifetime. Your work is admirable and you really can't be blamed if we live in such a f****ed up society that the most important work recieves the least pay (or no pay-just ask any mother).

Also, you've really inspired me to 'get off my ass' and join some of the many organizations out there that are doing wonderful work and financially supporting them when possible. The worst thing I find about the internet is even though 'the message' gets out, it is still an isolating medium and people haven't gotten around to get organized to confront our many problems.

You're an inspiration to ADD sufferers everywhere!

21-
Pour diffusion immédiate

Moncton-Sable s’attaque à une des histoires les plus anciennes au monde avec sa nouvelle création, Alors, tu m’aimes? de Monique Snow.

Pourquoi aime-t-on? Comment aime-t-on?

22- Hey, thanks, we're getting ready to go at recallbernardlordblogspot.com, however, we thought we'd try to get hold of the original guy to find out why he stopped, any ideas how to find him? Also, I can't find the story on the rude photo journalist?

23- Charles, I'd be interested in starting my own blog, closely related to yours and with the 'recall bernard lord' theme. Since you have so much on your plate I'd be willing to 'chip in' and do a blog similar to yours for recall bernard lord. However, a new name would have to be used since I"m not sure whether the owner of recallbernardlord.com would give it up. Mind you, I could always use recallbernardlord.ca or something like that. Anyway, I was wondering if you could forward this message to your anonymous friend to see if he's interested. However, since he doesn't know me then perhaps I'm better off on my own (although I don't know whether I'd be motivated enough without some help). If he is interested of course his anonymity is safe, I was once an irving employee too! Anyway, if you could just pass this email along to him with my email address then I'd appreciate it. This isn't 'for publication'. Thanks,

Sorry charles, it's starting to get confusing...why are there TWO different places? Where should replies be going?

IRVING PHOTO JOURNALIST VERY VERY VERY RUDE TO CHARLES!!!!

Ok..I received this little email from the White Collar Irving Employee.
This is what he wrote- Charlie,

I read some of the replies... I am willing to set up a Recall Bernard Lord Blog but want to remain anonymous... The only condition would be for someone
like your self to add content on a regular basis and be the mediator for the site. I will deal with all
the web stuff and compilation of html code but need someone to deal with comments. I will run both your blog and the new blog if it materializes very close
to each other so they would feed off each other. Think about and let me know.

WCIE < white collar Irving Employee >

Well? I got news for you readers? There will be no recallbernard blog site or any other blog because I got enough on my plate with this one!

I mean, I’m not greedy or shellfish but this blog site isn’t just on the issue of Ritalin!
I have ADHD < PROUD OF IT > I have five different brains therefore I have lots of issues to write about beside ADHD?
Other issues such as the homeless, methadone clinic, Dilaudid, human rights paid irving employees, the irving newspaper, the pollution, the family services, committees, etc etc etc…the list goes on and on!
You have a beef on a certain issue? Leave your comments in here because this is a site to debate issues!
The Here paper < IRVING PAPER > have a forum but they changed their system because only praising views of the Irvings will be printed in their forum! They demand a user name so they can know who writes about them.
Not here,,,,anyone can voice a opinion or debate any issues! Of course, I can trace the comment but it’s open to everyone around the world.
One funny story yesterday, one reporter was interviewing Shawn Graham < Leader of the Liberal Party > and afterwards I said- I came over to Blog a story! Lol…
You know what? I wonder if a blogger could pay $100.00 to attend the news conference the politicians give to the Irving media?
Hey? If the President of the United States can be confronted by a blogger? Why not Premier Bernard Lord?
Of course, I have to go through security at the Legislature and asked for a media pass and in return, I will have to pay $100.00! But then again? The Irving media must give the ok???
A news conference will never be the same again!...lol…
Two more deaths occurred in Nova Scotia because of the Dilaudid problem but this time around it was different because it was the Methadone that killed the father of three!
They over prescribed the Methadone to the patients and they died.
Now, this doesn’t mean that methadone is no good for New Brunswickers. It’s the lesser of two evils!
The methadone can take the craving away from the oxy-contin and it’s much cheaper for the users.
There’s no methadone in Saint John and I don’t understand the reason?
During the last week some people got shot in the legs in Saint John and we all know it’s drug related! Crime is at an all time high in the Loyalist City because these Junkies need the money for their fixed! But then again, this is only Charles LeBlanc and he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Ok…going to that rude Irving Photo Journalist. Yesterday afternoon at around 4:45pm, I noticed many emergency vehicles on Carlton street!
People were on the streets and the fire fighters were very occupied. They were running all over the place.
Being Charles? I wanted to know what was going on?
I noticed a Photo Journalist also watching the situation. I seen this high class dude in the past and I didn’t know his name until I saw the picture in the Daily Gleaner this morning.
His name is David Smith! Anyway? I approached the guy and asked him- What’s going on here???
He’s tall and always wear dark glasses! Anyway? He just turned his back on me and walked away! Rude??? VERY VERY VERY RUDE!!!
But there’s a reason that I’m writing about this jerk because in the past?
He’s always seem to be around when I show up at a meeting!
The time that I confronted those racist members of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission during a Anti-Poverty meeting and condemn them in front of 70 people! He was there!
The time that I condemn those racist members of the Commission at a Commun Front meeting? He was there!
The time that I angrily confronted Volpe at his meeting? He was also present!
He walks around like his sh@t don’t stinks and I believe that’s the way the Irvings wants its employees!
What I find funny is not once that my concerns were mention in the Irving Papers about my issues! Did this dude received his orders from the Irvings to ignore me???
I’m not a bad person and I have proven in the past that I‘m not a media hound!
Hey? You don’t wish to write in the papers my views? I WILL GIVE MY VIEWS TO ELECTED OFFICIALS IF THE MEDIA IS PRESENT OR NOT!!!
No problem but there’s no reason to be rude to my face!
I have lots of Photo Journalists friends which I won’t named! These photo journalists don’t walk around like they’re better than everyone else!!!
I wonder if this guy got orders from the Irvings to ignored moi?? Who knows? Hey? Maybe this has nothing to do with the Irivngs? MAYBE HE DON’T DOESN’T LIKE MOI???..LOL….Whocares anyway! I don’t even know why I decided to write about the guy anyway???
I never chatted with Mr.Smith and I don’t plan to in the future but that kind of ignorant attitude is just what J.D. Irving wants! Ok…I fell much better now!!!..lol…
Excuse the style of this update because I just write the darn thing and send it along on the information highway! Send my blogsite to all your friends on your list so they can continue reading the going one within the province of New Brunswick!!! Bye bye Here’s a few comments that I RECEIVED DURING THE LAST 24 HOURS

1- Security: Lord Government does have bunker mentality. Lord himself hides from people. If there are demonstrators in front of legislature he hides behind the walls of legislature. Otherwise he hides in Centennial Building. He has built walls everywhere to keep public out. The way he is going he will soon be wearing helmet and Armour from top to toe. At least you would be able to hear him anywhere he goes. Click clank, click Clank……….here comes the dank.

2- Do you know that the Department of Family and Community Services is the worst Department under Lord Government? Others may differ because the other Departments are not that hot either such as Health, Finance etc. That Minister Huntjens does not know if he is coming or going. Lord should get a muzzle for him if he wants to avoid any further embarrassment from blabbermouth Huntjens. Then Lord himself is equally bad.

They do need a special security at Family and Community Services. It is very essential. People of this province need to be protected from Huntjens and certain very incompetent officials he has. People who need special protection from this Department are seniors, poor, homeless, and children needing help and any other who might need social assistance of any kind. It is a disaster therefore need for special security to protect citizens.

3- Your web site looks good but I will not be able to read it today........too late coming on the system, I can only read them between 12:30 and 1. I am off tomorrow so you will not be hearing from me, just thought that I would let you know. What names do the politicians have for you? Talk to you
later..........

Dear Charles ,
I received a note from Premier Danny Williams this morning that I think you, as a Fair Deal supporter, should read. The note is pasted below, in its entirety:
February 22, 2005
Mr. Kevin McCann
Founder, FairDealforNewfoundland.com
Email: kevin@kevinmccann.net
Dear Mr. McCann:
Let me thank you publicly (through your web site), on behalf of the government and people of Newfoundland and Labrador, for the tremendous work you have done in creating a vehicle through which our province's residents and supporters have been able to campaign for a "fair deal" on offshore revenue sharing. I also want to thank the thousands of people who have availed of your web site to join the grassroots campaign for fairness. Together, you have been instrumental in helping us to achieve the historic Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord 2005. You have also convincingly demonstrated the power of the world-wide web to spur social and political change benefiting Newfoundland and Labrador. Well done!
The new Atlantic Accord 2005 is a monumental agreement of enormous and enduring significance for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and, ultimately, for all Canadians. It represents a just and timely expansion of our fiscal capacity and an unprecedented opportunity to harness our own resources for self-reliance. Even more importantly, it demonstrates what we can achieve together if we put our minds to it. With renewed pride and self-confidence, we can push beyond the limits of our past achievements to reach new goals and achieve our unrealized potential as a province in Canada.
We will be careful not to squander the money but to use this new fiscal tool wisely so that it provides a lasting legacy of benefits for both current and future generations of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. I believe we have a moral obligation to our children to use our nonrenewable resources in ways that lay a solid foundation for growth that will endure long after the resources are gone.
Already, we are looking ahead to our next opportunity to rally together in support of issues that are important to our province. By continuing to work together, we will accomplish a great deal more for Newfoundland and Labrador and put our province on track toward a prosperous, secure future.
Yours sincerely,
DANNY WILLIAMS, Q.C., M.H.A. (Humber West)
Premier
Government of Newfoundland and Labrador

Premier Williams, thank you for recognizing our efforts, and thank you for being the first Newfoundland and Labrador premier to recognize "the power of the world-wide web to spur social and political change".

Most importantly, thank you for securing this deal, and for working to "lay a solid foundation for growth that will endure long after the resources are gone".

The 2005 Atlantic Accord deal is significant because it can mean so much to the province, but also because it awoke the sleeping giant of online grassroots activism in Newfoundland and Labrador. We can continue what we have started, and continue to make a difference.

Visit the Fair Deal Blog Today

Sincerely,
Kevin McCann

RITALIN PRESCRIPTIONS IN CANADA GOES FROM 900,000 IN 1999 TO 1,900,000 IN 2005!!!!

My God??? A person must love the information Highway!
After I pasted my interview with Tim Smith, he sent me an email telling me that a few people called him over the phone.
There’s a story about his issue in the Telegraph Journal < Irving Paper > and he received a phone call from Dennis Melanson and he’ll be a guest on his show on March the 8th!!!
Hey? Anyway to spread the message!!! I tried to get the guy and the Bishops family < lost their son to VLT’S > on the talk show CFBC talk of the Town Radio show in Saint John but to no avail!
Hey??? Did you see the newscast on CTV News last night? Let me see if I can find it?

Sorry….I can’t find the darn story. It was on ATV News last night. They said that in 1998, the doctors prescribed over 900,000 Ritalin prescriptions.
Last year the amount WENT UP TO 1,900,000 prescriptions!
They said that since a child is forced on these pills at such a young age? They will be medicated for the rest of the miserable lives!
If they live in New Brunswick, Canada? The chances are that they will commit suicide because as adults and by the orders of those racist members of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission?
They will be considered as close to mental retardation! These are orders form the Irvings to those paid C.U.P.E. racist members at the Commission!
You don’t believe me? Go and have a look at my pass updates about this very emotional issue!
There’s something funny going on at Family Services < Welfare office > in Fredericton.
The Commissionaires who are hired by the Government are out and private security is in!
This is a place where Open cubicles are allowed! The reason? The staff from Family Services can asked personal questions in front of everyone!
This shameful act will discourage people who need money to survive from applying for social assitance.
This is not right!
What’s with the security staff all of a sudden?
As I wrote in the past and I’ll say it again? It’s only a manner of time till someone flips!
It’s happening in the States all the time and as God as my witness? I hope it never happens in New Brunswick but you can only push someone so far?
Speaking of pushing a person so far??? I walked in the Legislature last week and noticed a Liberal MlA speaking to an Irving reporter!
I quickly shouted - Hey? Why talk to that Irving Employee when you can talk to a blogger???
The MLA quickly answered- Charles? I can call you other names but a Blogger!!!!..lol…so true!!!...lol…
But the Blogging way is going to be the route of the future because the Irvings as we speak are training our future Journalist at Saint Thomas and Universite de Moncton to be pro Irving!!!
Before they received their diploma? They must make certain that they will dedicate their life and soul to the evil Irving Empire so therefore they won’t be able to write critical stories of the Irvings!
Am I far off the mark? Of course not!
Peter Huggart the publisher of the Telegraph Journal wrote a column in 2003 that only one letter per month will be printed by a writer on any issues!
A few weeks later, the Irvings shut down the shipyard and the regular writers had their say but they had to wait one month to get another letter printed!
Germany all over again? You tell me????
Hey? Check this site out—

http://dominionpaper.ca/accounts/2003/11/10/journalist.html

A few evenings ago, they had a play on MAD TV of a parent who was taking care of his 15 years old daughter.
My God?? She wouldn’t take her Ritalin so the Doctor prescribed the Father some Morphine!!!
Hey? Maybe that’s what has to happen for the drugging of our children to stop? Drug the parents!!!
Maybe it’s them who needs some medications? As I wrote in the past and I’ll say it again!!
I have no kids and THANK GOD FOR THAT!!!!
I’ll stay in a tent for a six months period, I’ll fight for them!!!
But to take care of them??? Sorry! Not going to happen!
As long as the Lord Government is in power? The drugging of our children will continue!
Speaking of drugs?? Where’s the Methadone Clinic in Saint John??? Does anyone know?
Ok…enough writing and excuse the style of this update because I just write the darn thing and send it along the information highway!!!
Here’s some comments that I received during the last 24 hours from some readers. Enjoy and visit the site at

http://oldmaison.blogspot.com

1-With reference to above comment. A 16 years old beautiful girl commits suicide. A tragedy which could have been avoided with proper help. What is happening in this province? We are becoming a province of tragedies under Lord Government.

2-Very nice article about Tim...and the daughter looks sweet....Where is
the Mother???????? And tell him to keep up his meetings for
support....There should be more meetings.....Maybe some churches would open up to this!

3-Sheana, You are such a beautiful little girl and I am glad you are home with dad.

Tim, all my support to you and keep up the good work with Sheana and keep her home. You will change the world - especially Sheana's.

4-very good!

5-There is a story in The Daily Gleaner today about 16 years old Heather White who committed suicide in November 2003. Heather was in foster care. Reading the story it becomes apparent that Heather White fell through the cracks. It also shows the incompetence of officials in the Department of Family and Community Services. They saw the trouble but did nothing to rectify the situation. It looks that the Department of Family and Community Services has maximum number of incompetent employees. It also shows how incompetent Lord Government is.

Another tragic part is that the Department of Family and Community Services touts its foster parents and adoption program through constant T.V commercials. A program which is so badly managed as it becomes obvious after reading Heather White’s story.

Whether it is abuse of Ritalin, VLT addiction, nursing homes and services for needy children the story is the same, incompetence and mismanagement and a very irresponsible Lord Government.

6-Dear Charles;
I just got back - it was nice to get away. Nice sun and sand.
I got a call this morning from ???????, who used to work for the
Town.
He got into some kind of trouble and was fired I think?? He is
desperate to talk to you but doesn't have a computer. His phone number is
506-????????.
If you have the time or can come across a phone to use, please call him
ASAP. He wanted to talk to you as soon as he can.

7-Your an advocate and a strong voice for the people, your in the
forefront and that appeals to a lot of people like me who are shy but would love
to be heard. That guy would not have asked for you personally if he didn't
think that you could help him. Charlie might turn his back on someone in
need..........hmmmmmmmmmmmm, Don't sound like you at all...lol

8-Your friend Tim Smith gives great interviews. If he does demonstrate again tell him not to go on hunger strike. Why to risk his own life. He should take his friends and show up in front of legislature day after day. That will have definite impact.

9-You are starting to sound like the new Andrew Landers...lol. Move
over Anne Landers here comes Charlie. That can be your stage name..............Its funny but you have a big heart and this new blog site....could lead into very interesting situations and topics. Keep it up!!!

10-Overall great interview. Mr. Smith is very eloquent.

(Lie to us once? Shame on YOU!!!! Lie to us twice???? and the blame on YOU). This pretty well sums up. Lord and his government made a career out of lying. Top of the list of liars are: Lord himself, his minister of Finance Volpe and his Minister of Health Robichaud. Others in Lord’s cabinet are not far behind.

Who knows in Mr. Smith case they may keep their word. However track record points to the opposite.

11-To Tim Smith, Keep up what you are doing, we have major problems in our Province and VLT's are on the top of the long list. The government are making way too much money on the vulnable, being gambling addicts, prescription drug addicts and everything else that they have allowed in this province for only the last 10 years or so. Its a desperate situation to say the least and it really focuses on how ignorant this government is to people with addictions. This is the worst governemt that we have ever seen and I think that us everyday people have awakened to see us being robbed daily. Keep up the good work

12-How’s Tim? I hope that his daughter is fine!

13-Hey Charlie...

Great concept...enjoyed the follow up...
Keep up the good work..

14-WOW!!! You put something there that was about somebody else!!!! Are you feeling okay Charlie? Are you taking drugs? Just kidding, very nice of you to put up pictures of Tim's daughter. Lovely! And a really nice change. Love you!

15-Why don't the parents of deceased kids sue this company? Maybe a bunch
of
lawsuits would slow them down????????

16-If you start a controversial site like recallbernardlord you never know. You may get more publicity than you can handle including in Irving media. :):). Now that site is gone. Are you starting a new one to get all the publicity that recallbernardlord got last time.

17-Nice one! I like your pictures Charlie. Very good! Love you! Bye for now!

18You know Charles, I find it interesting if you go to the Novartis Website and do a little research on Ritalin... They provide a link to www.adhdinfo.com. There is a section on the homepage of this site for teachers of students with adhd... It lists what to look for further providing the ability to for educators to self diagnose students with this disorder. Shouldn't this be left to professionals... Now that can be argued but what I find most important is that when you look at who owns the adhdinfo site it just happens to be Novartis Corp... So much for objectivity. WCIE

19-There could be other factors than cost only. It was quite a forum where all kinds of views were expressed and voters had their chance to express their frustrations with Lord government. If he would have asked around people would have shared costs if that was the only factor.

There is definitely need for such a forum. This is a good site but it deals with single issue of Ritalin. It is very important issue but other issues need to be discussed in the type of forum provided by recallbernardlord.com site. Other issues include healthcare fiasco, NB Power, financial mismanagement by Lord Government and incompetence of Lord Government in general

--
Posted by Anonymous to Charles LeBlanc ADHD Activist at 2/19/2005 09:38:31 AM

20-Have an idea. Why not start a discussion group here, patterned after recallbernardlord.com, which deals with general issues and Lord Government? You may get thousands of hits as recallbernardlord.com had reached close to 18000 hits. If you do that this may become the most popular site.

21-It probably cost him more that $25 bucks a year!- that was probably for the domain name- then the site's monthly costs for a host and any features are extra and if you get loads of hits that costs more- but I agree he could of added advertising which costs nothing- he gets paid if people buy or click the link---too bad- it was probably the pressure...

All the best...Keep Warm

24-Good afternoon Mrs.Blaney:

changes that may happen in the future. Timothy Smith.

Hi charles I thought I might sent this note to Mrs.Blaney because I

25-Glad you got a good rating....tell people to send it to five people.......?

26-I knew that you would be in a good mood, today....because you went to church, right?

27-Whassa big idea to delete me?:)

28-Hope this works this time Charles..

Here is a pretty neat little thing from Paul Harvey.
See if you can guess the riddle at the end. Even if you don't
want to do the riddle, please take the time to read this, it's
nice.

Paul Harvey Writes:

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids
that we made them worse. For my grandchildren,
I'd like better. I'd really like for them to know about
hand me down clothes and homemade ice cream and
leftover meat loaf sandwiches. I really would.

I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and
that you learn honesty by being cheated

I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the
lawn and wash the car.

And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car
when you are sixteen.

It will be good if at least one time you can see
puppies born and your old dog put to sleep.

I hope you get a black eye fighting for something
you believe in.

I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger
brother/sister. And it's all right if you have to
draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he/she
wants to crawl under the covers with you because their scared,
I hope you let them.

When you want to see a movie and your little
brother/sister wants to tag along, I hope you'll let
him/her.

I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your
friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely.

On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope
you don't ask your driver to drop you two blocks away
so you won't be seen riding with someone as uncool
as your Mom.

If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you
how to make one instead of buying one.

I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books.

When you learn to use computers, I hope you also
learn to add and subtract in your head.

I hope you get teased by your friends when you have
your first crush on a boy\girl, and when you talk back
to your mother that you learn what Ivory soap tastes like.

May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn
your hand on a stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.

I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you
don't like it. And if a friend offers you dope or a joint, I
hope you realize he is not your friend.

I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with
your Grandma/Grandpa and go fishing with your Uncle.

May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the
holidays.

I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a
baseball through your neighbor's window and that she
hugs you and kisses you at

Hannukah/Christmas time when you give her a plaster
mold of your hand.

These things I wish for you - tough times and
disappointment, hard work and happiness.
To me, it's the only way to appreciate life.

Written with a pen. Sealed with a kiss. I'm here for
you. And if I die before you do, I'll go to heaven and
wait for you.

Send this to all of your friends. We secure our
friends, not by accepting favors, but by doing them.

Paul Harvey RIDDLE:

When asked this riddle, 80% of kindergarten kids got
the answer, compared to 17% of Stanford University seniors.

What is greater than God, More evil than the devil,
The poor have it, The rich need it, And if you eat it, you'll
die?

Send this to 10 people and then press shift and you
will get the answer.

P.S. You won't believe this, but this really does
give you the answer

29-Hi Charles;
Been busy lately. Getting your notes ok

30-Sorry charles, it's starting to get confusing...why are there TWO different places? Where should replies be going?

MR.SMITH LEFT THE CAPITAL ONE MONTH AGO TODAY AND IN HIS OWN WORDS!!!!!!!!!

Ok…Today was exactly one month ago that Tim Smith left the Capital of Fredericton after receiving some positive information that his suggestions would be LOOKED INTO by the Lord Government!!!
You can see his picture in my photo files!
In today’s update, I’m going to dedicate the whole update to Tim Smith. Tim left his daughter at Family Services so he could protest against the VLT’S!
Her picture is on the front page of the website! Isn’t she a cutie?
Ok…I emailed TIM SMITH some questions to answer and this is a first for me? I never did this in the past! Hey? Maybe I can do the same to the elected officials? Any Elected officials wish to be interview by Charles LeBlanc?
Send me a note! < I doubt that very much > Here’s Tim Smith answers to my questions? Enjoy and please fell free to leave a comment!

My name is Timothy Smith, I held a protest in Fredericton from January 12th to January 20th 2005.
I went on a hunger strike to bring attention to the growing problems in our Communities in New Brunswick and Canada with Video Lottery Machines (VLT,S)and the crisis it is causing among the population in general.
This weekend I was asked to answer a few questions so I have agreed to do so and to answer completely and honestly to Charles’s questions!

Charles LeBlanc - Question #1:How are you feeling since your protest 1 month ago this weekend?

Tim Smith - Answer-

Well? Things are slowly coming together in the financial aspect of my situation and I’m attending regular weekly meetings for a 90 minutes sessions down from 2 hours at the beginning.
My relationship with my children has come together very well and I’ve found out that as long as I keep myself very busy which at the present isn’t very hard helps
me tremendously!

Question #2:How is your relationship with your youngest daughter been going since returning home?

Answer-
My bond with Sheana has improved to the point where I
no longer torture myself with thoughts like - Am I doing enough or
Interacting enough with her????
I enjoy her so much more know that I sleep better at night and have more energy to cope with my daily duties as a caring parent.
The difference of having a bit of money in my pocket to take her
out more and to do some of the simple things we used to do is very
rewarding to me.
I also have found that her and I have begun to enjoy the closeness that is gaining in strength to where it used to be!

Question #3:Have you played or thought of playing (VLT,S)since
coming back home?

Answer-

That is something I struggle with everyday being involved with and talking to
people each day when I’m out. This helps me a lot!!! As I’ve said earlier keeping busy is another tool I use, Also I keep convincing myself everyday that this could
be the day I will hear an announcement that the Government has set a date to lift the time as was mentioned in my suggestions!!!!
This is a reality I use as a as a starting point for myself, my friends and the many thousands of New Brunswickers who suffer from this affliction.

Question #4: What memories do you have of your protest & what to you were the highlights?

Part"A" Well the memories I think about the most would be.

1.I think I will always remember my new friend Charles Leblanc
with whom I still communicate on a regular basis and read his updates which by the way are improving by the day!
To the people who don’t really know him he comes across as a bear who forgot to hibernate for the winter but I’ve had the time to get to know that bear and inside he’s no more than a rabbit to the people he cares about on a
personal level (On the outside it’s the protester in him so be patient!)

2. How friendly the people of Fredericton where to me!!

3. How great the media was in their coverage and in helping
me have the courage to stand up for what I believed was a very Important cause.(walking me through tremendous nervousness)

4. But the thing I think about the most were the families of the people
who had committed suicide that thanked me for what I was trying to do for them and and myself which gave me an unbelievable energy to deliver the message to the
government that something has to be done.

Part "B"

1. I have to say one of the highlights for me was the meeting with the 4 ministers in particular Mrs.Margaret-Anne Blaney and the sincerity I felt from her as a parent as well as a politician regardless of the reputation politicians have she went far beyond that point with me she had a genuine concern for my cause & my well being and I will always remember how she stood by my side and came with me to the cafeteria to have my first meal in 8 days as she teared up with real emotion and again expressed here feelings about myself and my family

2.Another highlight for me was how supportive the public was to this issue and how people still come up to me today to talk and saying to keep up the good work and tell me they too are praying for a date for change so they will have a new hope for most of their friends that are going through this and so they won’t feel so helpless in trying to help them.

Question #5:The day your protest ended, you seemed very optimistic
that the government would act on your concerns and suggestions, do
you still feel the same way?

Answer - This is a question I think about a lot as time passes, with not hearing from the members of Legislator as often as when I first got back and with this issue not making it on the news as often as it was all though it still does here and in other provinces I still try to keep a positive outlook that change will take place sooner than later, I also believe that the honorable members know that a lot of people are keeping their ear to the wall hoping for a chance at escape and a new beginning!

Question #6:If nothing is done on your suggestions? Are you planning to RETURN to the capital to continue your protest on this issue?

Answer-
Although I try not to even imagine that being the case, knowing now just how huge this issue really is and the number of people I’ve since found out that it effects just in my area alone and to hear about 20 of my own personal friends tell me if I was to go back not counting people I’ve never met before tell me also that they would stop everything they’re doing to go with me without hesitation.
I will most definitely go and do it all again and knowing I will be
returning with more support than I could have imagined would only increase my determination to get it right this time.
(Lie to us once? Shame on YOU!!!! Lie to us twice???? and the blame on YOU)

Question #7
Do you believe it is better to protest in the cold of winter or the heat of summer?...LOL…STUPIS QUESTION!!!...LOL

This is a bit of a different question which I really don’t know how to answer?
I didn’t choose the cold of winter it just turned out that it was time to act out of absolute desperation to have something done about the addiction to VLT,S that was killing me and already done so to Others, But in saying that I do believe that the sub zero temperatures did help drive the point that this issue was important enough that there was no difference between Hot & cold and that time is not on the addicts side for change to these machines. And I suppose one could say that the quick response of the media and the government could be attributed to the fact that this protest happened in the cold of winter.
I hope this will answer some of these questions and I would again like to thank people who stop and give me support and encouragement to try and make a difference and please help keep this issue alive and in the forefront, Peoples lives are depending on it every morning we start our day.

ARE NEW BRUNSWICK TEACHERS FOLLOWING THESE ORDERS????

This is an email that was sent to me last year from the Department of Education! I wonder if they are still following these orders?

From: Phillips, Deanna (ED) On Behalf Of
McInerney, Terry (ED)
Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2004 1:29 PM
To: (ED) Superintendents (Eng.)
Cc: (ED) Directors of Ed (Eng.)
Subject: Medications - Ritalin

Recent stories in the Telegraph Journal and other media have heightened the public's awareness of the drug Ritalin, a drug which is generally used to assist in the treatment of ADD/ADHD among children of school age and adults. While educators
have a definite role to play in the referral process for children who are
displaying characteristics associated with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder, and in assisting the medical and psychological profession diagnoses
of this disorder,
Teachers are to refrain from suggesting to parents that prescription
medication of any sort should be used in the management of students'
behavior.
The diagnoses and prescription of medication for disorders that impact on a classroom's Positive Learning Environment remains the responsibility of the medical profession.
Principals are asked to remind teachers that the Department of Education recognizes that teachers have an important role to play in the referral process.
Suggesting to parents that they may want to consider discussing their child's attention difficulties with their family doctor comes as a result of a collaborative process involving the school-based student services team who have considered in- depth the child's strengths and needs. Teachers are encouraged to
share their observations with the school-based student services teams, and
with physicians.
Teachers can also serve as an important source of information in the monitoring by
the physician of appropriate dosage of medication.
Please share this information with principals, who will share with their staff.

CHARLES WRITE ON THE HOMELESS ISSUE!!

I am just going through my old updates and I wrote this update last year on January 19th from last year! I guess the homeless problem hasn't change that much since then....

Date: Mon, 19 Jan 2004 08:06:29 -0800 (PST)
Subject: CHARLES WRITES ON THE HOMELESS ISSUE!!!

Personally, I never heard much of the
homelessness issue in the past. While protesting in
my tent in front of the Legislature, I seen first hand
this serious problem.
On July 2nd, I seen a guy in the Dumpster at
Officer’s Square collecting empties from the big party
the evening before. Late at night, I would see many of
them collecting empties from the garbage bins on the
streets. I might add that they didn’t leave a mess on
the ground.

Many of them would walk by the Legislature
looking for butts that the staff left in the ashtrays
outside. These people are not loud. They’re very
polite and quiet. Once I got to know them? They’re a
nice bunch!
For many people in this City; They would be known
to be the menace of the society and the forgotten but
if you took the time to chat with them? You would be
surprise to find out that they are human. These
people live on $264.00 a month and thank god for the
fine support of people like George Pierce at the Soup
Kitchen. They have all the food they can eat but after
walking around the City for 3 to 4 weeks?
The need to release and yes, they do get drunk!
Don’t forget? They’re human just like me and you. I’m
no Saint and yes after preaching to the citizens about
ADD/ADHD for 30 days under the hot sun. Yes! I did go
out and enjoyed a few. We’re all human.
The problem is that after they spend 60 bucks on
booze and other addiction. At the end, they don’t have
money for the rent.
The public will say - Go at the shelter! Have you
ever tried sleeping in one big room with 50 beds?
There’s no privacy in that area and many homeless
people don’t like the atmosphere. I sure wouldn’t.
Many citizens during the summer months seen the
guy with the long beard sleeping on the City Bench. I
haven’t seen this individual for months. Do the public
care? The are called – the forgotten! A guy like that
could disappear from the face of the Earth and no one
would noticed.
The fall came and I was beginning to get my
little home ready for the cold months ahead. The
evenings were cold but I did manage.
One day, I was at the soup kitchen and someone
asked me if I was still in the tent? I proudly said-
YES! I’M STILL THERE!!! One guy sitting beside me
said- What’s the big deal anyway? A bunch of us sleeps
in the parking garage. All you need is a cardboard and
you’re fine. I heard stories that they slept in the
parking garage and the grand stand at the exhibition.
Myself, I visited the parking garage on a cold
evening and there was a girl sleeping in the stairway.
Her name is Sharon and she walks around with a
shopping cart. She’s a very nice girl and I might add
that she’s very clean.
One evening, I noticed her around the
Legislature and since I seen her set up for sleeping.
I invited her in my tent and she found it very
comfortable. She was in paradise.
One other homeless guy that I met during the
protest is –Marc! You people will know him from the
guy who sleeps under the Westmorland Bridge. He’s the
quiet type and has addictions. I tried to help the guy
but he won’t take that extra step and look for help.
One morning, I showed up in his sleeping quarters and
it was –40 with wind chill. He was there and I touch
inside his jacket and he was still warm. Someone gave
me a white Goose feather blanket during my protest.
It’s worth around $500.00. I gave it to Marc and maybe
this little toy will help him.
On October 4, many kids gathered at Officer’s
square for a 24 hours protest. They had cardboard
boxes, duct tape and plastic. They wanted to have the
feeling of living in the cold for 24 hours. I was also
there collecting names for my petition. At around
1:00am, the rain came down very hard and everybody ran
home. Did they did get the feeling of how it feels to
be homeless? Of course not! They went home to their
nice shelter while the true homeless people were still
out there in the wet weather.
In the fall, many would come to me and say-
Charles? Aren’t you cold? I always answered- You
selfish people! Isn’t that nice? What about the real
homeless? Compare to their homes? I live in the
Holiday Inn!
The Province cannot ignore this problem. Of
course many of these less fortunate do not want help.
If you have a guilty conscience? When you see a
homeless person? Drop them a coupon for a free coffee.
They sure could use the hot coffee to warm their
bodies. Have a great day!

NOVARTIS PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY < MAKER OF RITALIN > PHONES CHARLES LEBLANC!!!!

This is a letter or update I wrote on June 8th from last year! With all the talk about drug companies pushing their products? Well? Read this story!!!!

Poor Charlie……He just can’t seem to let go. I’m
the type who says he’s going to do something? I
usually do it!
The same goes for my updates.
Any issues that I write about? I’ll say it
publicly!
I guess this was proven just around one hour ago.
It’s a beautiful day in the Capital and I just
left the Centennial building. While walking on the
sidewalk? Guess who I seen coming walking towards
me???

The Lawyer of the Human Rights Commission with
his suitcase in tack - Chris Whallen and Carl White.
I don’t really mind Chris Whallen but the other
guy Carl White?
I’m sorry I can’t stand that guy and he’s the one
who took my case to the Human Rights Commission. He’s
the only worker in the Southern Part of the Province
so therefore I had no choice.
What did he told the Commission about the racial
slurs by the Irving Management? What did he say or
heard in the Irving Office. What exactly did he tell
the Commission about ADHD???
You know the story…so anyway…I turn my head
towards these two guys and said- What? They allowed
Racists in this City?? F@ck!!!
Do I feel guilty in saying this especially it’s a
beautiful day outside???
Afterwards, I seen a couple of Ministers and told
them what has just happen. I was upset and I told them
I better find work in the near future because things
are getting out of hand.
Hey??? I’m am I wrong??? The Commission agreed
with the Irvings-

1- no niggers or frogs should be allowed to work
within the Empire.

2-When Mr.LeBlanc was interviewed by Gulf Operators
he informed us he had ADHD and was taking Ritalin
there
were medical limitations placed on Mr.LeBlanc. We
accommodated Mr.LeBlanc disability by ensuring that he
was given jobs and duties that complied with his
medical limitations.

Sherry Mersereau < Irving Human Resources with no
Doctor’s paper! > Supported by the racist members of
the
Human Rights Commission of New Brunswick >

In my opinion? We may have the courts to decide
this very racist verdict by the Commission.
How much longer can this go?
I remember on March 21st in the year 2003. I was
at a meeting in Saint John and it was sponsored by
P.R.U.D.E.! At the end of the meeting, I took the
front stage from Idee < who now works for the
Environment Department > and told the 60 people
present that we must investigate those people at the
Human Rights Commission.
This was all done before my protest so you can
imagine the hate in my blood.
What a way to begin this beautiful sunny day in
the Capital!
Anyway? Never mind that!!!
I wanted to write of a different story that
happened to me this morning before I came across these
two guys!
Last evening, I had a message on my phone to
phone a toll free number. The number is 1-800-363-8883
and I asked for a J.Lamay.
I phone the number and guess who it was?
It was Novartis the maker of Ritalin. The guy was
friendly and he was bilingual. I was surprised that he
called me because I left a message and my phone number
on their web site in the past but they never return my
call or email.
But this time around it was the real stuff. I had
a person from the maker of Ritalin on the other line.
He was bilingual and he spoke the Quebec French.
I told the guy that I was Acadian and I spoke le chiac
- You know- Je vos au store me chercher un packais de
smokes.
I believe that at that moment we had a break down
in communication because he asked me if I wanted to
locate some Ritalin?
Well? I didn’t really want some Ritalin but then
again many people would pray that I take a barrel full
to calm down!!!!
I asked the guy if he could tell me the amount of
Ritalin that’s being prescribed in this Province???
He seems confuse and one again asked me if I
wanted some Ritalin????
I told the guy that I protested in a tent for 6
months and collected 10,000 signatures that read - I
agree that Ritalin is over prescribed in this
Province.
I went on to tell him that a doctor told his
co-worker that he practiced in the U.S.A., Canada and
he never prescribed so many Ritalin than here in New
Brunswick!!
Why is that now????
At that moment, the guy from the Novartis
Pharmaceutical Company told me – THIS IS A PRIVATE
COMPANY SO THEREFORE WE DON’T HAVE TO DISCLOSE THE
AMOUNT OF RITALIN WE SELL IN NEW BRUNSWICK!
After that? The conversation quickly came to a
close. Too bad so sad…c’est la vie!
We have a education and Health Standing Committee
in place but the Government don’t care if the kids as
young as 4 years old are force to take Ritalin and
lets not forget the Cudmore Case?
I don’t know what’s the hold up on their verdict!
They know that I’m waiting for the racist
outcome. If they handle the Cudmore case like they
handle mine? The racism and discrimination against
people with ADHD will continue in this Province.
Racism? Yes? When you force a child with ADHD to
be deported from this Province? That’s racism! I was
the blunt of Racist remarks by the Irvings and the
Human Rights Commission agreed with the Irvings!
OK…Here’s a few comments from the last 24 hours
that received. Excuse the grammar and style of this
letter because I just write the darn thing and send it
along to you people on the information Highway. Send
it along to all your friends on your list so they can
continue reading the going on in this Province and of
course SEND ME YOUR FEEDBACK!!!

1-Before getting to Fredericton and meeting Charles
Leblanc I though that
Ritalin was a French actor.
I learned a lot about Ritalin from
Charlie since that first day back in
2OO3 and it has help me to understand the possible
side affects of this
drug.
When it was sugested that one of my grandchildren
should be on it, I
explained to my daugther what I had learned about it.
My grandson isn't on it and I'm glad he is not on it,
because there are
other alternatives.
Thank you Charles,
< POLITICIAN >

===============================================================

2-Hi there Charles,

There is something not right today there are to many
kids on
Ritalin. Kids today are so hyper, even kids that are
not on Ritalin,
kids are so high- strung. So is it the food that we
are eating
today our environment? maybe the government needs to
look into
this.

==========================================================================

3-Salut Charles,

Oui, je pense que le gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick
devrait établir
une
enquête sur l'utilisation du ritalin auprès des
enfants.

< PRETRE >
==========================================================================

4-Charles-
I believe the government should study Ritalin usage in
the province,
both to gauge its
effeteness as a product and to investigate whether it
is over
prescribed.

==========================================================================

5-Charlie-

There is no good long term effects with ritalin, in
most cases these
children that are given ritalin become drug addicts in
later life. I

There needs to be a documented study done and a follow
up to see what
goes
on with these children when they grow up and I think
that they would
find
that they began a very dangerous cycle by giving the
children ritalin
as a
child.

The government is to blame for all children that was
given ritalin as a
child and grew up to be a drug addict. They could of
done something
and
they chose to do nothing and education is the key to
fully understand
all
that is available for the child in need. It does not
have to be mind
altering drugs..........there are other non-stimulant
alternatives!

========================================================================

6-
Charles
Would parents give children cocaine.....of course
not............but on
the
other hand parents think that because it comes in a
pill form and the
doctors prescribe it that it must be ok............of
course not
because
its cocaine in a pill and they are giving it to their
children and they
will pay later that is for sure.

=========================================================================

7-I think that the Human Rights Commission's decision
that "adults who take Ritalin are close to mental
retardation" is totally insane and they really need to
do some intensive research with knowledgeable people
on the subject of ADHD. They are still back in the
turn of the century. They should all be replaced!!!!!
Doctors have made great scientific discoveries of how
the brain works over the most recent years. Many
adults with ADHD are documented Geniuses and have
changed the world with inventions and discoveries.
They are the movers and shakers in our world that get
things done. The HRC people need to open their
brains...their out dated beliefs sound more like they
have Mental Retardation!

=============================================================

8-YES!!!! I AGREE THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD MOST
DEFINATELY DO A STUDY ON THE ISSUE OF RITALIN!!!!

======================================================================

9-I most defiantly have views against any one taking
drugs of any kind- if not needed. And there are side
effects- to any drug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Kids are facing side effects, at an early age. These
are not like Grandpa's heart pills>that are more
needed than the side effects....This is drug addiction
to the most vulnerable of people at a young
age,,>>that will make them unhealthy and addicted to
worse drugs later on in life...and who cares??????
The government should because the children are the
future! And, why shouldn't this be
studied????????????????????!!!!!!!!!

==========================================================================

10-
Ritalin in and of itself is not necessarily a bad
thing.
For those who actually need the drug. It is a God
send.
The problem begins when we use the drug as a quick fix

to control behavioral problems in kids.
Not only should the province conduct a study
to examine whether Ritalin is being over prescribed,
the medical community should examine whether
physicians
are too quick to take the word of teachers and social
workers in diagnosing whether or not a child has
ADD/ADHD.
Protocols should be put in place and criteria set to
determine whether a patient actually has these
disorders
and is a candidate for Ritalin or if there are some
other
underlying reasons for their behavioral problems.
If the latter is fond to be true, those problems
should be
dealt with appropriately.

==========================================================================

11-
Hi Charles, as you know, at the present time, Ritalin
can only be
prescribed by a physician. My background and
experience is in Education but
as educators, we could not determine who or how many
students received
the medication.
Are you requesting that a specific committee study
the issue? A
committee of course, could not tell physicians which
medications to
prescribe. These matters are determined by those with
expertise in the medical
profession.
Best Regards, < POLITICIAN >
======================================================================

12-
I think that some one should study more on Ritalin !!

=======================================================================

13-
Charles -
I agree that a major study should be done of this. My
information, anecdotal and from some physicians, is
that Ritalin is way over prescribed.

============================================================================

14-
Charles,

bien sûr qu'il devrait y avoir des études sur
l'utilisation abusive du
Ritalin chez les enfants! Bonne année , Charles!

Subject: Kids on Ritalin

Hi Charles: When you asked me if I would like to be
on your update list, I had no idea that I would be
bombarded with e-mails every day - and long ones at
that. I am too busy to respond to everything you
send. (Do you not have a job, Charles? Is this all
you do all day?) But this is an important issue and
it is commendable that you spend your life fighting
the system and making waves. Too bad more people
wouldn't get on board to make many voices heard and
listened to. As for myself, I am the quiet type and
don't make much noise, but I also have opinions on
this subject.

I run the Fredericton ADHD Education & Support Group
and try to be a good listener. We have speakers some
months and just chat sessions other months. It is
important that people dealing with the stress and
struggles of ADHD have others who know what they are
going through and are able to discuss it with people
who truly understand. Nothing is more frustrating
than being told that it is due to bad parenting
skills. Sometimes, but not always. It takes a lot of
strength and patience to parent this type of child.
Alot of the parents have it themselves too, so dealing
with their difficult children is quite a challenge!!!
Many people with non-ADHD children say "Oh, I know
what you are going through, dear. " When in fact, they
haven't a clue what it is like! "What he/she needs is
a good spanking!" Or "you didn't spank them enough
when they were little" Like hitting them will make
them grow up to be respectful and loving adults. What
about their self-esteem????Oh...I could go on and on!!
But back to the subject of Ritalin...YES...THE
GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO DO AN INTENSIVE STUDY ON THIS
ISSUE!!!!

I do agree that too many children are put on Ritalin.
An awful lot of them are just hyper and act
inappropriately to what society deems as acceptable
behavior. Due to a lot of different reasons, such as:
too much sugar in their food and drinks, allergies to
certain foods cause extreme behavior changes, our
foods are loaded with dangerous chemicals that alter
the body functioning, some families do not have enough
boundaries and structure, some parents do not have a
good support system or were abused children themselves
and don't have good parenting skills. These children
are often put on Ritalin as a solution or Band-Aid,
instead of investigating the many possibilities that
could be causing the problem. There are clinics here
that can test for food allergies, and organic sections
in our stores for better nutritional choices. We are
all being slowly poisoned by our chemical laden food
supply and breathing in chemical laden air every
day!!!

But then on the other side of the issue, are the ones
who truly do have a chemical imbalance in their
brains. They do have ADHD and they benefit greatly
from having the chemical added to their systems to
help the brain work the way it was intended to. Most
often it is hereditary or caused by trauma to the
brain. It is unfortunate that in Canada, the testing
for this is very minimal, and ends up being an
assumption by the teachers and the medical doctors
based on behavior and questionaires. In the States
there is "brain imaging" that actually shows the way
the brain is working during certain times and under
certain conditions. Tells the doctors what part of
the brain is malfunctioning due to chemical imbalances
as compared to the imaging of a brain not affected by
ADHD. Tells about lots of other symptoms as well. To
bad we don't have the technology here in Canada.

Giving Ritalin to someone who truly does have ADHD,
can give them the opportunity to improve the way their
brain can focus, can help them slow down and be like
the other people around them, which in turn gives them
more self-esteem and satisfaction in their
achievements. Many can do things well while on the
medication that they could never do before . Helps
them to concentrate and do well in school, instead of
most often failing in what they attempt or cannot
finish. It could be the difference between having a
parent proud of their child's behavior or
accomplishments, as opposed to having a parent who is
always yelling and unhappy with their child's bad
behavior and attitude. They grow up in a negative
atmosphere or a positive one. This can really affect
the way the child matures and what they are like as
adults and parents themselves.

You may use this in your column with my name attached,
if you like. I speak from the heart and I sincerely
care.
Carol Mullin, Fredericton ADHD Education & Support
Group

16-
Charles
I agree with you 100%

=======================================================================

changerait vraiment?

=======================================================================

18-
Charles-
As a parent of a child with ADHD, and another child
with autism, I want to comment on the reason why
someone needs to look at the high prescription use of
Ritalin and/or related medications. Ritalin is often
prescribed quickly, similar to a "knee-jerk" reaction
as often by the time parents get to a physician they
are at their wits end. Coupled with this is
escalating hyper behaviour at home, and school, where
the teacher and/or a principal are concerned and
suggest the parent seek medical help in the form of
Ritalin. I witnessed it said myself...."there are
pills to help with that you know...I think he has
ADHD". No teacher, education official, nurse,
rehabilitation therapist has the right to diagnose
ADHD, let alone be so bold as to say it directly to
parents. Only a physician has the right to assess and
diagnose....it is the law! And other professionals
need to be told to remain within their boundaries.
Appropriate assessments need to be done on the child
both psychological and medical. Ritalin is a band-aid
and does not get to the root of the problem. Once
"triggers" for this hyper behaviour are identified,
Ritalin might be prescribed as a means to help settle
the child, while at the same time parents and
professionals are teaching the child coping
strategies, and techniques on anger management, etc.
The list is exhaustive. Ritalin should only be
prescribed after a "double-blind" study is completed
to make sure Ritalin would indeed be appropriate.
Ritalin does have its place but is needs to be done
allot more judiciously!!!!
One must look at why the child is behaving the way he
is.....is it diet related(to much refined sugars,
etc).....can the child filter out the noise level in
the classroom which causes him not to hear what the
teacher is saying, therefore increases frustration
and negative behaviour, in this case an FM System may
be needed, audiologly may need to get involved to
determine if the child has a Central Auditory
Processing Disorder....does he have the social skills
to make friends, if not he needs to learn these
skills....what is the home-life like, is there a poor
family situation, do the parents argue in front of the
children, are the parents/parent spending time with
their child. The television is not a
parent....parents needs to get involved in their
child's life. If the child is involved in sports etc,
just don't drop off the child and leave"for a break"
but volunteer to coach, stay and cheer on the game.
Hang out with your child more, watch a movie together,
go sliding or skiing together, read together.....get
the family time happening. Praise your child and help
build up their self-esteem, which by now is very low
and they consider themselves "stupid". People can say
what they will.....but the family unit is in trouble
in today's "quick" society and these children are a
result of that.
Is there a problem with the over-use of Ritalin...YES.
Should the Government study this issue...YES. If
Ritalin and related medications are not
prescribed/used properly....it is definitely the
stepping stone to further drug addictions for these
individuals. In New Brunswick we have a problem!!!!
So people get your heads out of the sand an start
dealing with this problem. It is bigger than you
think.

=========================================================================

19-
I think that ritalin alters who a child is, it's a
serious thing when a doctor prescribes drugs for a
child. If you aren't happy with the child that you
gave birth to, then perhaps you should never have had
children at all. It's no human beings place to alter a
child that god created.

=========================================================================

20-
I understand there are drugs in the market, and
extensively used, whose side effect include sudden
death. That should take care of any health problems,
permanently.

There is indeed need for lot more scrutiny of
pharmaceutical companies than currently exists.

========================================================================

21-
what do u have against ritilin?? It has helped many
children and families.

=======================================================

22-

Charlie-
I agree that a study should be undertaken on the
issue of Ritalin prescriptions being given to
children.
There is too much of this going on and it seems to
usually be based on a teacher's information to a
doctor
who then prescribes the drug. One answer would be for
more teachers and/or teacher's aides to be hired but
we
know that's not going to happen. The class sizes are
probably too large for one teacher to handle so if
there
is a child with ADHD, or even a child who's a little
over active, the way they get around it is to drug the
child. I don't blame just the teachers. Doctors too
have to be responsible in this issue. Drugs are too
easily handed out these days - that includes
penicillin
which is given for almost anything now and in my
opinion
when a severe infection develops later on the drug
will
have to be stronger and better to fight the infection.
An immunity is built up after so many times being
prescribed
and it just won't work that well anymore.
Another problem of course is that there are so many
households
with either both parents working or it is a single
parent home
where that parent has to work long hours or two jobs
just to
make ends meet. That leaves little spare time to
spend with
kids who desperately need supervision, coordinating
their
activities, and maybe just quiet time with a parent
just
talking or reading a book. People just seem too busy
to spend
time where it's needed with their kids and they depend
on
teachers to fill that need.
All this is very easy for me to say because I don't
have kids
myself but I do have brothers and sisters who have
kids and I
see how hard it is for them to find the time needed to
nurture
the kids and spend "quality time" with them.
Anyway, I'm starting to rant a bit. Bottom line -
there is a
definite need for a study on the issue of Ritalin.

HAPPY NEW YEAR CHARLIE.

23-
yes they should study our children and grandchildren,
these are our
future.

====================================================================

24-
Hi there….

I would like to present an alternative question for
your consideration.
why not have the members of parliament tested for add
and adhd? I am
sure that
among the pill-pushers of the medical community you
could find at least
one to
certify that the elected members who talk during the
session while
others are
speaking are obviously in need of drugs to be able to
concentrate. and
those
who get up and walk around or send notes out to others
are visibly
interfering
with the attention of others in the chamber, so they
too must be
narcotized
into correct behavior.
after all, is the definition of adhd merely that the
person is not
paying
attention to other persons? most particularly, any
person who is not
concentrating on a self-important person is judged to
be lacking in
mental
skills, demonstrating a lack of social skills and
generally exhibiting
an
inability to learn from instruction.
I am sure that a camera placed in the media gallery of
the house would
provide
all the necessary proof of the existence of this
scourge in our society
which
must be eradicated at all costs, even if the society
is destroyed in
the
process.

I find it difficult to answer the question of why
study the issue of
Ritalin.
the facts of the issue are not at issue, there is a
sufficient amount
of
history and accumulated knowledge to warrant the
further investigation
of both
the drug itself and the application of the drug. that
there exists
public
outcry in more than one country and language by itself
should provide
the
necessary impetus to at least question the
circumstances of the use of
the
drug.
unfortunately, the issue of Ritalin is one which will
open more
questions than
the elected and un-elected leaders wish to see in
public. given that
the issue
of Ritalin is a school issue, investigating the use of
Ritalin will
call into
question the structure of the education system, and
more importantly,
will
bring to the general public the worst question that
could be raised:
what is
the purpose of the education system? it is in the
answering of this
question
that the answer to the problem of Ritalin exists.
Clarifying the function of the education system in
terms of the society
in
general will cause unrest in the taxpaying, voting
public. this is
something no
elected official wants under any circumstance.
there are 3 or 4 major functions in society which the
school system is
directly
responsible for. the most obvious is the knowledge
which is imparted,
however
imperfectly. the second is the knowledge of
manipulating knowledge, or
wisdom,
if you like.
the largest area of the education system is the
imparting of social
values to
the new generations of participants. it is here that
we see the use of
Ritalin,
unchecked, will effectively eliminate any desire in
the voting public
to
question any person of authority or responsibility.
any person who is
judged to
be a threat will, and are, forced to take drugs to
effectively remove
them from
participation in the society as a functioning member
of that society.
this works in many ways: by virtue of the drug itself
the mental
abilities of
the person will be reduced. the existence of the drug
will then cause
the loss
of social privileges, and the forced paternalism
toward the takers of
the drug
by the well-meaning and others with less generous
intentions.
a more insidious problem is also becoming evident:
social ostracisation
of the
takers of the drug. even thought the drug is medically
prescribed, the
taker is
labeled as "defective", so any opinion or decision or
political
statement is
discounted because the person is a taker of "that
drug". no group will
want
those with that prescription to be a part of their
group on the grounds
that
participation will reflect badly or negatively on the
group and its
objectives.
this circumstance is already being related as
happening to many
students
everywhere where the drug is used in the school
system.
as you can see from the foregoing, answering the
question "why avoid
the study
of Ritalin" is a lot easier to answer.
the issue of Ritalin joins other issues which the
government does want
in the
public eye: why can little johnny not read? where is
the oversight on
the power
commission? why are the civil service positions
expanding faster than
the rise
in population? where are the graduates of the high
schools living now,
and why
is there no opportunity for them in New Brunswick? why
have all the
government
job creation agencies failed?
I am sure that there are other questions which have
the same
characteristics as
the Ritalin issue. health care is supposedly a
priority for every
elected
party, yet the number of hospital beds and nursing
staff, etc is
decreasing.
welfare is designed to maintain the recipients in the
system and
punishes those
who try to get an education to better themselves.
and a related question about social responsibility:
when was the last
time a
civil servant was convicted of receiving bribes and
sent to jail? when
was the
last time a scandal erupted over inappropriate
exercise of authority by
a civil
servant? is New Brunswick so perfect that these things
do not happen
here?

i hope that this will answer your question and
possibly provide you
with some
perspective about the problem. never mind that the
issue needs to be
studied
for the future well-being of the citizens of new
brunswick, or that the
social
structure is being undermined, or that a large number
of voters are
unhappy and
need to be paid attention to, or that the response of
the civil service
is out
of proportion to the question, or that the
condescending attitude of
the
elected members is nauseating to the general public
who read and think,
or that
taxpayer money is being spent on items which the
taxpayers deem to be
incorrect, ..........
have a happy new year, and keep up the good work!!!!

==========================================================================

25-
The government should not do a study on Ritalin.
First, the kind of
formal
studies you're asking for cost a fortune and nothing
ever comes of
them.
More importantly, though, Ritalin is not the scourge
you say it is. It
may
be that it is being prescribed for some children who
don't need it, but
it
is an absolute godsend for many. A child I know was
had her life
totally
changed for the better by her diagnosis of ADHD and
the prescription of
Ritalin. She was unable to concentrate all through
elementary school,
which
meant she did terrible in school. This made her feel
stupid, and it
caused
other kids to make fun of her and call her names. One
year after her
prescription, she's getting As and had lots of
friends, and is sooo
relieved
to learn she's not stupid aftert all, but has a
treatable condition.

My own son has an ADHD child in his grade two class,
and the mother
won't
agree to Ritalin. This child is constantly disruptive
in class. He's
learning nothing, and the other kids aren't learning
much either,
because
the teacher has to spend most of her time trying to
control the poor
child.
This child is unable to focus or sit still, and
medication will help
him get
an education, and help the other 21 kids in his class
get the education
they
deserve.

My point: maybe it's true that some kids are being
medicated who don't
need
it, but some children DO need it! You're not doing
them any favours by
saying bad things about the medicine they need!

==========================================================================

26-

The question is not why a study should be done, but
whether a study is
necessary! The Government and medical agencies are
well aware of the
numbers. For more than a few years experts and
articles have stated
that
medication is being used on many children when it
really isn't needed.
Information is what is needed - what kind of behaviour
is sufficient to
warrant Ritalin or other calming medications and what
kind of behaviour
can
be changed by other measures. Unfortunately in this
world where both
parents
must work (in many cases) it seems impossible that
behaviour
modification
methods could be used satisfactorily and when needed
so we come down to
the
use of mind altering medications.
I believe that doctors must be the first to
understand the problem,
if
there is a problem, and they must be the ones to start
the ball rolling
with
more and better information getting to the parents and
teachers who
must
contend with disruptive behaviour at home and in the
classroom.
So...is a study really necessary or should the
'powers that be'
just get
off their duffs and do the right thing!

27-
I am not sure if it should be "government" - after all
it is us who
always
pays to have the "government" in EVERY aspect of our
lives- but any
impartial body would be good---after all the companies
can't do it
honestly
and many doctors won't give up the bonus'----we do
need a 3rd party to
study Ritalin because it is a DRUG that we are not
completely sure of,
and
parents are at the wits end for help-
--so it is Ritalin we need to study or put time and
our money into
studying
other therapies for these families---I say scr*w
Ritalin and let's
study the
possible benefits of other therapies and causes and
maybe other
drugs(MAYBE
something natural)...

28- I taught that I would add this little comment--<
Charles >
Hi Charlie...Happy New Year............There is one
thing I would like
to
know.............who diagnosed you as
ADHD.............and at what age.

========================================================================

29-
Happy New Year Charles,

Personally, I think there should be a study done
within the province on
ALL prescription drugs. Ritalin is one that needs to
checked into, but
there are several others that seem to be over
prescribed as well.
< POLITICIAN >

=======================================================================

30-I hear you loud and clear Charles
I agree with you.
See ya!

=========================================================================

31-Charlie,j'aimerai en discuter davantage avec notre
critique qui est
Roly McIntyre. Ma position personnel a toujours ete
que ta requete
devrait etre adresse pour finalement avoir l'heure
juste sur toute la grande
question du ritalin.
Salut bien,

< POLITICIEN >

==========================================================================

32-

If something is not done these children, who are
prescribed Ritalin indiscriminately, will grow up to
be drug addicts. Some may commit crimes to support
their addiction and others may be suicidal. Many of
these children who can become productive and
contributing members of society will simply end up
being burden on society. A great human cost, tragedy
and cost to society. That is why there is an urgent
need to study the issue of Ritalin.

=============================================================

33-The government should study Ritalin to make sure
that they are not over
prescribing this drug in order to maintain control
over kids. Alsot to
establish probable facts explaining why this drug is
the best solution
in order to assure the public. We need to make sure
it is not an easy,
simple way out in dealing with "hyper" children. We
need to make sure
that they are following procedures to determine if it
is indeed the
best
medication. Also, we could develop other solutions to
deal with this
issue such as spending more time with our children at
the parc instead
of in front of a television. Many people say that
Ritalin has helped
their children dramatically and they couldn't do
without Ritalin and
others are completely opposed to it so it's a very
sensitive subject.
I
think we have just become too busy as a society that
we have lost focus
on the important things such as spending more time
building a
relationship with our children and parenting them. It
seems that it
has
become a bigger problem in our generations as opposed
to our
grandparents. How were they dealing with ADHD? If
ADHD was not a big
problem as it is now, maybe we should ask ourselves,
is it the way we
live our lives? Is it a question of lacking attention
from busy
families, neglecting families, I dunno. I am not the
person to judge
because I have not done any research on this subject
nor have I been
around children who have ADHD but I hope that this
issue can be looked
at, studied and resolved once and for all.

=====================================================================

34-
Charles-
10,000 signatures on your petition should mean 10,000
reasons to start
with!

========================================================================

35-
Non-Stimulant medication called Strattera should be
considered for all
children and adults with ADD/ADHD and the elimination
of ritalin should
be
strongly considered with this new drug

Family support/counselling/education should be
available to families
going
through hard times with children with ADD/ADHD to try
and avoid
bitterness
in later years developed by living with a child with
add/adhd. This
would
help many families.

========================================================================

36-

Why study Ritalin use in NB?
1. How many kids are on Ritalin purely on the say so
of their teacher?
2. How many kids are on Ritalin that don't need to
be?
3. How many Ritalin kids are just behaviour problems
that the system
doesn't have the resources to help appropriately?
4. How many Ritalin kids are missing out on the
positives of ADHD?
5. How many non-ADHD kids are being denied progress
because they are
unlucky enough to be in a class with some "integrated"
ADHD kids?
6. Double blind studies are a must to get a proper
diagnosis of ADHD.
This program exists in Nova Scotia, why not here?

I'm sure there are more reasons, but I can't bring
them to the
surface
right now. I am a pharmacist, so I see both sides of
the coin. I see
kids
and adults who have no business being on Ritalin, but
I also see people
Who
should be seeking treatment but who are afraid of
being labeled. It's
shameful to see but true.

Good Luck Charlie,

< THIS IS FROM A PHARMACIST!!! >

==========================================================================

37-

Our kids, our future, Ritalin is not the answer

Not everyone who is given Ritalin has add/adhd
disorder

More education needed by all parties concerned

Too much time goes by with nothing done and its better
late then never

Our Children are more important then the dogs,
insurance, etc that get
studied

Children who take Ritalin lose their appetite, some
are malnutrition
and
they do not even know it. They can skip meals and
they do not even
feel
hungry.

I think that they need to find another way to teach
children with
add/adhd
because they are at the last resort and this does not
have to be.

=====================================================================

38-
Charles…
1. Side effects such as an enlarged heart......some
deaths......
2. Zombie like personalities..
3. Excess drug use when they reach their teens...and
into adulthood....
4. Lazy Teachers and parents should be studied for
taking the easy way out....

and Charles you ought to write a documentary book on
it

=============================================================

39-CHARLES, Happy New Year to you and all your readers
Regards
< POLITICIAN > I decided to add another one…..

============================================================

40-Although I
feel for kids with sore stomachs, unfortunately many
drugs have
unpleasant
side-effects.

However, MANY drugs are far too easily prescribed.
Maybe the study
should
be on the reasons that medical practitioners are so
quick to prescribe
stuff. Is it because they have too many patients and
can't take the
time to
carefully diagnose? Is it because the doctors know
most people have
some
kind of medical plan so that the cost to the patient
is minimal? Is it
because there's some kind of kickback with the
pharmaceutical companies
-
who rake in kazillions in selling drugs? Or is it
because they just
don't
know what else to do?

Mind you I'm not implying that any of the reasons
suggested are true.
I'm
just saying that the possibility exists. I just read
"The Right
Fight", the
new book on Bernie Lord & the NB PC's by Yves Poitras.
A wonderful
read -
sympathetic to both sides of the NB linguistic and
political coin - but
not

===============================================================

41-
Charlie,
I believe kids on Ritalin are not who they are, or
what they could be,
because they are drugged and not using their minds.
What did it do to
you?
And, did it do anything for you? When did you go on it
and why????
Happy New
Year from Doug and I! Regards

1) Makes happy active kids-to Zombies

2) Kiddy Cocaine

3) Can become a real problem if snorted or mixed with
another drug

4) Labelling of these poor kids

5) Teachers will not have active students in their
class if not on
ritalin-catch 22

6) They will be classified as Limited by employers
and the Human
Rights
will agree with the employer

7) No help available if they become addicted

8) They have not been prescribing them long enough to
know the long
term
effects except we know that cocaine is their chose of
drug when they
get
older. We know that every pill affects something,
what vital organ or
organs is ritalin affecting.

9) Mind altering drug is NO GOOD

10) Nothing being done by our government to address
the issue so you
Charlie must NEVER go away!

11) The Pharmacutical companies are making way too
much money on
prescription drugs and they are running the show with
their highly
addictive pills and society pays big time for the
children and adults
that
they are ruining.

12) Oprah had a show on ADHD last Wed. and everything
that you say
about
it was said on her show. I was told about this last
night. Check out
the
Oprah site and see if you can find out exactly what
was said about
Ritalin.

Charles-

This is in the National Post January 7, 2005

Health Canada approves new ADHD pill with small liver
damage risk
OTTAWA - Health Canada has approved a new drug for
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder that U.S.
regulators warned in rare cases may cause severe liver
damage. Strattera is a non-stimulant drug approved for
use in children six and older, as well as adults. The
drug is promoted as a once-a-day pill that can treat
symptoms of ADHD from morning to bedtime, so children
can avoid the "stigma" of taking a midday dose at
school. "I remember a mother who was very angry that a
teacher announced [her son's] name to go and see the
nurse during the noon hour, and all the kids teased
him later, saying, 'What are you on?' " says Dr.
Atilla Turgay, chief of medical staff and director of
the ADHD clinic, training and research institute at
the Scarborough Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Turgay, one
of the principal investigators in Canadian tests of
the drug, said Strattera is safe and effective. Last
month, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration advised
doctors about the drug's potential side effects
following two reported cases of liver damage in a teen
and an adult who had been taking Strattera for several
months. Both recovered. Strattera has been on the U.S.
market since 2002 and has been prescribed to more than
two million patients. According to Eli Lilly Canada
Inc., no evidence of liver injury was detected in
clinical studies involving about 6,000 patients,
including 200 Canadians.
