Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder not just a kids’ problem
Studies show that 80 percent of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder continue to struggle with ADHD as adults

ADHD is a disorder that only affects children, right? Wrong!
While it was once believed that youngsters outgrew attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder by adolescence, experts now agree that symptoms continue into adulthood.
It is estimated that about
5 percent of all Americans are afflicted with ADHD. That equals about 10 million people. Further studies show that 80 percent of ADHD children grow into ADHD adults. Millions of grownups may be struggling with the disorder, yet be unaware of their condition.
Adult attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder can look different than the childhood version. Children tend to experience hyperactivity and impulsivity. They have trouble sitting still in the classroom and may pester other youngsters or blurt out in the middle of a lesson.
That hyperactivity generally diminishes with age. Instead, adults tend to feel restless or fidgety. They may engage in endless toe tapping or have problems sitting through full-length movies.
Adults with ADHD have difficulties managing their time, balancing their checkbooks or following through on tasks. They also feel hopelessly scattered or out of control.
Concerned that you may have adult ADHD? Then consider the following descriptions:
• One of my school-age offspring is being treated for ADHD.
• I was restless, impulsive and distractible as a child.
• I often misplace things.
• I am impatient.
• My spouse complains that I don’t listen well.
• I am often late.
• I procrastinate a lot.
• I frequently feel overwhelmed.
• I have trouble completing tasks.
• I have low self-esteem.
• My life feels like it’s out of control.
If these statements fit you to a tee, then consider taking these steps:
1. Get evaluated. You’ll need an experienced clinician to make the final diagnosis. But once you’ve identified the culprit, you’ll know where to turn for treatment.
2. Consider medication. Because ADHD is a neurochemical disorder, your symptoms may require medication. The same medications that are used for children are also given to adults. Most physicians will begin by prescribing a stimulant, such as Ritalin, Adderall or Concerta.
3. Educate yourself. Knowledge is definitely power when it comes to treating your adult ADHD. Read books. Talk with professionals. Share with other adults who have the disorder. You’ll be able to design that just-right treatment program for yourself.
4. Create external structure. Go to bed at the same time every night. Eat meals at approximately the same time throughout the day. Place your wallet and keys in the same spot when you come home. Your life will feel less stressful and you’ll gain a new sense of control.
5. Embrace organizational tools. Write lists so you don’t forget to do things. Use sticky notes at your work station or on your bathroom mirror to remind yourself of daily must-dos. Buy a datebook and write down appointments. You’ll be organizing your thoughts as you organize your day.
6. Prioritize. Before tackling several problems, decide which is most important and complete that one first.
7. Break large tasks into small ones. Need to clean out your bedroom closet and drawers? Then set a kitchen timer for 30 minutes and work until the time is up.
Repeat daily until the chore is finished. You’ll feel less overwhelmed and you’ll start to empower yourself.

KIDS TAKING MEDICATION IN NEW BRUNSWICK ARE DOOMED!!!! ALL THANKS GOES TO THE NEW BRUNSWICK HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION!!!!
A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO? IT WAS CHAOS AT ANDY SCOTT FORUM!!!!
OK....I have been holding on this one for over two months but since it’s terrible weather out there? I feel that I must write about a little experience that happened to me at the Andy Scott Forum a few moths ago.
It was on a Sunday afternoon and I would say there were about 60 people present.
This was my first time at this sort of gathering.
Andrew Holland told the audience that everyone will be divided into smaller groups and debate the issue on the bulletin board in the room.
The first room I was walked by? It said - Social issues!!!
I decided this would be the room for me. I sat on a nice couch with two other females.
One man walked in and squeezes his way on the couch. This little sofa was made for three and not four. One woman stood up and sat on a chair.
I noticed the people walking in the room held their heads high but of course I know this is Fredericton and I’m use to that style of walking.
I noticed Mike Ryan sitting in the room. He’s a outreach worker and he does fantastic work for the poor. 
The woman in charge asked the audience of 15 people what issues we wish to debate?
One woman quickly said - Housing Units.
I closely follow by Prescription drug and 4 other titles were added.
They told us that all the issues will be debated in 40 minutes but it never happen that way because we spent 20 minutes on the first one. 
Once it came to the prescription drug issue.
I said - It would only take me five minutes to explain my situation and we could move on to the next issue.
I began by telling the people that I was the guy who protested in a tent for six months.
Since this is a bureaucratic City? This is a very snobby City.
They’re trying to hide the issue of Dilaudid from the public.
Seconds later, A guy in his 60s shouted- MOVE ON!!!!
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing because I was told that I had 5 minutes to speak on the issue.
He continued to shout - MOVE ON!!!!
The person in charge told me to ignore the guy and continue my little presentation.
I was very upset but I decided to continue.
I reminded the audience that as we speak? There’s 15 women selling their bodies in Saint John for Dilaudid. 
The same guy shouted - Hey? You should have took their phone numbers????hehehe....
Well???? Trust me? I completely lost it!!! Nobody cares for these poor people I guess?
Andrew Holland was having a problem on his own. 
I guess that Wendell Fulton was having a shouting match with a young political scientist.
Lots of action in the Monsieur Boyd building today!!!
Andrew knew that I was upset. I don’t usually lose it at these forums but that guy got to me.
I told Andrew in front of everyone - THIS GUY IS AN ASSHOLE!!!!
I was furious!!!
I said - Ok...I don’t have to say nothing here but I will make my point in front of the whole audience in the main room! 
Then I found out this ignorant guy was a member of a Board of directors of a very respected organization.
I just couldn’t believe the ignorance towards the issue of prescription drug in the Capital?
Now? I am beginning to understand the reason there’s over 150 people on a waiting list in the Capital.
Saint John also has a huge waiting list!!!!
Yes, I was going to let the everyone in that room know that prescription drug is a major problem in the Capital and the Province.
No one was going to stop me!!!
I was furious!!!
Andy Scott knew that I was upset and before the question period began he explain himself on certain issues.
He spoke on the issue of Methadone. 
What really bothered me is that many in the audience agreed with Andy Scott that the issue of Methadone is not really important.
I believe that he was explaining that before Ottawa gives money away? The other provinces must agree.
I’m sorry but I’m missing something here???
We have a major prescription drug problem in New Brunswick and it seems that our elected officials are distracting this emotional issue with their words.
There’s something that’s not right here?
I love a good drunk but when it comes to drugs? Especially prescription drugs? Sorry.....maybe it’s because it’s too expensive? 
A nice 24 of beers cost close to $40.00!
A little pill will cost the same amount and the high will last 30 minutes or less. 
The next day, I visited the organization the ignorant guy belong to.
I haven’t been there since to find out if that ignorant individual apologized for his rude remarks.
I know for a fact that he was very serious and this is not a laughing matter.
I won’t mention the guy name but I will admit that he got me going.
Lots of action for a small forum!!!! I can’t wait for the next one?
By the way? I told Stephen Harper of the need of more money for Methadone clinics in this Province. I am told that the money for the safe needles exchange program in Vancouver was cut!!!
So? Here we go again!!!!

Last week someone told me this story and I decided to do a little investigation. 
I went to the old Victoria Hospital and asked the Commissionaire if he knew where the Country Music Hall of Fame is located?
I followed the guy and he directed me into a room.
Look at all the pictures and it’s all located in one LITTLE room in a building. 
Boy! New Brunswickers should have a lot of pride for their country musicians??? eh???
THE IRVINGS WINS AGAIN!!!! SURPRISE....SURPRISE....SURPRISE.....REVOLUTION TIME????
Of course, we the public are not allow to write letters against this issue!

City gets OK to expropriate Red Head land
Portions of six properties will be used for new road to LNG terminal

Six property owners in Red Head have lost their land battle with the city.
The province's expropriation hearings officer, John Larlee, has ruled the city has a legitimate reason to take portions of their property for a new road and can proceed to do so. The city's planning department will make a recommendation to common council to take over the land, allowing the city politicians to pass a resolution at their public meeting next Tuesday.
The expropriations would then be filed with the land registries office, which gives the landowners 30 days before their property has to be turned over.
Winnifred Trecartin, a senior citizen who tried to stop the city from dividing her land, initially said she would rather not comment when contacted by a reporter. But then she let go of her frustration.
"I knew this would happen but I'm sick and tired of it all. For the last three years, it seems like someone has been knocking on my door, trying to expropriate. It just makes me want to close my door and tell them to leave me alone."
She said Irving Oil recently tried to expropriate her land for an Orimulsion pipeline. Then the city informed her of the road project. Now Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline wants to put an easement through the back of her 98-acre property for a natural gas pipeline. She says she'll never use the new road.
"It's the principle of the thing. I was always taught to be more caring, which these people are not."
The earliest roadwork could start is late June.
Irving Oil, which is working with the city on the project, had hoped to start construction on the eight-kilometre strip this spring, but will be forced to wait until the end of June. Company spokeswoman Jennifer Parker says Irving officials are confident they can get the road finished by the fall.
"We understand that expropriations are never anyone's first choice. We remain committed to building a road that residents and the city can be proud of."
Mayor Norm McFarlane says he does not want to speak on the expropriation resolution until council has had a chance to look at it. Common council has already unanimously passed a motion giving city staff permission to get expropriations underway, meaning they'll probably finish the deal Tuesday.
The mayor thinks the new road is long overdue.
"Oh for sure I think it's a great idea. The citizens of Saint John get a new $10-million road at little cost to taxpayers - I think that's great. We've wanted a highway to provide secondary access to people out that way for years."
Under the deal, Irving Oil will pay $8 million to build the road to the site of its future liquefied natural gas terminal at Mispec Point and a connector road through the Debly subdivision to Red Head Road.
The city will spend $2 million upgrading Old Black River Road near the entrance of the still unnamed roadway.
"It makes us late, yes, but it still allows us to do a substantial amount of work this year," said city planning commissioner Jim Baird, when asked about the decision Monday. "We had hoped to be operating by now, but what can you do?"
Mr. Baird said the plan is to build a two-lane rural undivided arterial road, basically a narrow highway with gravel shoulders similar to the King William Road in Lorneville. He says Irving Oil needs to seek a number of environmental permits and roadwork depends on good weather. The most important permits are for two streams - Beyea and Bean brooks - that will flow through big culverts under the new roadway.
Timing is crucial on the project because Irving Oil and its partner Repsol want to use the road for heavy construction machinery. The $750-million LNG terminal is scheduled to open in November 2008.

HIGH PAID BUREAUCRAT FROM THE RENTALSMAN OFFICE IN FREDERICTON MUST LISTEN TO THE POOR!!!!!
Thank God I have ADHD because I had a very busy day.
It all began this afternoon when I tried to reach someone from the Justice Department.
Last week, I walked by Bruce Fitch and told the Justice Minister that I have to chat with the guy.
In the past, he always gave me the time of day but lately he’s a hard guy to track down.
The reason I wish to chat with Bruce Fitch is concerning Boarders and Roomers rights bill!
A few weeks ago, he made a presentation to the Legislature and proudly announce that after years or neglect these 20,000 poor New Brunswickers will have rights!
There’s only one itty bitty problem????
In his presentation, he said the word - Damage Deposit over and over!
Excuse me? If you live in a Rooming house? How the heck are you suppose to be able to afford a damage deposit???
It’s an impossible task!!!
Last week, I had a little meeting with the Rentalsman and he told me that with rights must comes more employees, computers and all kinds of different avenues.
As we speak? Boarders and Roomers don’t have rights!
They can be evicted without just cause. 
They can be told to leave and they have one hour to oblige. The police will be called to escort the poor individual out the door.
I have a case pending in front of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission but I promise a friend that I won’t write about the issue.
All I’ll say is that it don’t look good but stay tune! 
Anyway, I contacted Bruce Fitch’s office and I chatted with a Rosanne.
I wanted to know more details of the bill to includes boarders and roomers in the Landlord and tenant act.
I just wanted to chat about the issue of damage deposit.
I was told to contact Marilyn Born.
I didn’t even know this department existed? It’s a department separated from the Rentalsman office.
I called and the receptionist asked me for my name?
She place me on hold and told me that Marilyn Born was occupied.
This is the reason that I don’t give away my name.
Around 30 minutes later, I showed up in their office.
A person has to love the Capital because all the Generals are located in one area. The rest of the Province are only soldiers.
Once in the office in King’s Place, the secretary went inside the office.
She returned and told me that Marilyn Born is very busy.
I guess she has meetings planned?
I told her that the a woman from Bruce Fitch office sent me here.
I wasn’t getting nowhere with this bureaucrat.
I asked if it would take 6 months to make an appointment?
Later that day? I received this email-
Mr. LeBlanc,
There is nothing further Mrs. Born can give you at this time on this subject, therefore, she doesn't wish to meet with you until this law has been resolved.
Mrs. Born only handles complaint cases
that cannot be resolved by the district office of the Rentalsman and this request doesn't fall under this category.
Once the legislature has passed and you have more concerns and the district office cannot resolve it, we will look at your request again.

So? I don’t know who this Marilyn Born is or what’s her job but one thing is certain!!!!
These bureaucrats don’t wish to have input from the poor whatsoever!
The law will be forward by this bureaucrat and there’s nothing the poor can do!
What’s next?
Well? I will continue phoning Bruce Fitch office till I have answers?
I’m the one who put this issue on the front platter but these high paid bureaucrats believe that I should be ignored!
As far as I’m concern? The roomers and Boarders bill is a big farce.
Do these bureaucrats truly understand the real issue?
Of course not!
But one thing is certain? I will continue the fight till my concerns are met!!!!
Shame shame shame on the high class bureaucrats to ignore the poor on such an emotional and important issue.
Our New Brunswick flag sure represents the way the poor are treated in this Province.
