That is totally on the mark!! Great Concept!,The message is certainly loud and clear! It's time to take action on properly regulating these killers I mean the machines,then again do I?

When you think about it hard enough who else but the government can get away with total exploitation in every Community and Municipality literally hooking the public by the pocket as was said just like the weed dealers of the eighties you can get by so many but eventually you get caught up in them.

Very well done, a direct hit these people regardless of what party have to be held responseable for the deaths caused by this addiction because they are directly propheting from those who's lives are lost due to these machines and until they are properly housed there will always be people addicted to them
Also the supreme court of New Brunswick should look into holding this very government as well as the liberals before them totally responseable as they alone are running this community addiction and due to lack of vision for over 12 years of control on them not one member has been able to convince these politicians to start a percentage account of the huge prophets off of vlt's toward a future site which could have been built atleast 6-8 years ago
and would have more than paid for a couple of them over the years that they have been under government control.
Therefore some of the suicides that have occurred did not have to happen as most of the vlt's that are spread out in New Brunswick would not be there today.
The truth is if these machines were to have caused as many deaths as they do today when they were concidered to be grey machines most of the owners would have been charged with indirect addictive manslaughter or something to that effect and would have lost everything they owned through defending themselves in the court system.
and do to the ignorance of forsite when the government took them over and through total exploitation of our communities where ever they can set these vlt's up which by the way can be done very easily the only formality is a half wall of the cheapest materials possible and a box of beer in a fridge this will allow you to get a liquer licence and to start the exploitation process for yourself and it's all legal because you give the biggest percentage to the protector (the sitting Government)to ensure your not responseable for any loss of life or loss of personal belongings,family break-ups etc,etc,etc, yes our own protectors have found the ultimate cash cow and no one has to be held responseable do to the prophet pitfalls of the protection of your own Government.

Anyhow I'm glad to see your still on this and you can be sure that 48% of the no voters haven't forgotten Mr.Lord's hollow promises on this issue.
many of us know properly regulating vlt's has nothing to do with the referendum and Mr.lord had a chance to prove his committment to the people through freedom of movement within the communities but chose to expose himself as an addict to this to the huge prophets instead and so people continue to suffer in silence.
Very well done. Makes the point loud and clear. We have to pay the price to keep these nimrods in power. Look at Brenda Fowlie a totally incompetent Minister of Environment. First we, the taxpayers, were paying the big fat salary and other perks for her and then she messed up real big time by revealing personal information about another MLA. Guess what we have to also pay to a very expensive lawyer, Gordon Gregory, to defend her. Why not use the lawyers who are already on public payroll at the Department of Justice.
Bernard Lord says that they got outside lawyer to avoid any conflict. Wait a minute. Was Gordon Gregory not the top deputy minister under Hatfield government and Deputy of Department of Justice for a very long time? So we have to continue paying to retired Tories also. Bernard Lord is looking his political friends quite well. Political friends and rich are the only real beneficiaries of Lord Government. Rest of us can go and play VLT’s to support their life-styles. In other words Lord government is saying give us your lives and your money so that we can enjoy ours.
I notice there is one member missing from this group,Minister Blaney has dawned the front page of the New Brunswick paper for her looks but has she done or said anything new on this issue? I don't recall seeing or hearing her say antthing but I do recall her making a statement that this is not over I will do everything I can.
Has she been in touch with Mr.Smith with any news at all on the talks that were to be taking place on changes or again was that just a publicity stunt for a self serving purpose.
Lets not forget when these folks are done this week and they go off to enjoy their summer with family and friends many others will still be suffering throughout this Province and some will actually die.
Prophet through exploitation is a deadly adventure and it is an absolute shame that our government is in charge of this program it always has been and always will be a crime to take advantage of addiction no matter how you dress it up.
The sad reality is this province is so desperate for revenue because of the lack of creative governing they are willing to commit murder to get it.
Mayor Mcfarlen of Saint John himself has said that his City is known as the poorest City in the Maritimes and yet this City alone houses the largest count of vlt's throughout that region of the Province which means the largest concentration of addicts are from this city and he has also said that he does not receive a single dime from vlt revenues the(crack cocain of all gambling)and yet has not come forward in the endorsement of lowering the amount of time these machines can be played on a daily basis.
So other than he too being a Conservative how in the name of commom sense can he sit and watch between 25-35 million dollars leave this city each and every year which could be put back into the City of Saint John's communities to improve the levels of dwindling and badly needed services.
It's only going to get better as it goes there are a few things in the works,The hard part of the whole thing though is knowing what most of the things you are trying to take care of entails so if anyone knows someone who is as compassionate about this issue and lives in Saint John that has a little computer skills or other talents and can spare a little free time per week on this issue I would most definitly appreciate the help I have a few items I am working on but there is much more I would like to do and a little better speed you can reach me at my email address(thsmith@nb.sympatico.ca)

I also would like to see you use your voice as soon as we get close enough to the next election to make sure that the people of New Brunswick are reminded of your bravery to keep this issue alive to save as you said needlessly lost lives.
You went to the Capital to Negociate an equal balance that would give a desperatly needed solution to this problem and this Government sent you away with broken promises and a hand full of lies all for the dollar signs that were before them and had no intentions of giving up one cent even at the expense of life itself.
Mr.Lord as you also said could have used your message to take this issue for what it is total exploitation and put proper guidelines in place.
and prove to New Brunswickers that because of loss of life there must be amendments put in place as soon as possible.

Mr.Robichaud should be ashamed of his title by not taking action to help those who cannot break free of this addiction and suffer in darkness and silence. He may not have the power to change the operating of vlt's but he certainly can help in the area of access to much needed services from the millions of dollars these machines bring to his dept.
With such a crisses going on in this province on this issue and him doing nothing to support this crisses how dare he go to Saint John and produce a smile for the cameras while there are people suffering from a government sponserd program that takes lives as if nothing is wrong.
The vlt idea was very good you should raise some money to mass produce a flyer and keep them for the next election and hand them out just as a reminder of lives lost and the broken promises of fixing the problem,It's now been about 6 months since this was brought up and of all the politicians that said something should be done the money is still flowing to the provincial government at full speed while help is nowhere to be seen.

Is it just me or in the pictures does it look like elvy Robichaud got an expression on his face that says "It's those two over there I have nothing to do with this!!
It is curious how I compare this issue to the way drugs were sold back in the seventies up until the early ninties in and outside of malls,school entrances and busy uptown areas basicly wherever people had a habit to gather and became a province wide problem with the avoidance of becoming addicted to it and so the law stepped in to clean it up.
It is an interesting way of looking at VLT addiction as exploitation and it does seem to hold meret based on that theory.
It is true vlt's have been under Government Control for about 15 years in this Province which in all respects must have netted slightly over a billion dollars to date in that alotted time and yet not one dime has ever been set aside through a properly regulated program of any type whatsoever to build a structure in which they were ever to be housed.
This seriously leaves one to take a second look at the possibility the New Brunswick Government had no intentions of running this program other than to reach out as far into the crowed populas as possible which in turn comes back to exactly what has been suggested,Exploitation by the Governing body of the New Brunswick.
With no changes to this program as Suicides started to rise through a no way out addiction trap,also a very weak addiction services act does tend to point in the direction of inflicted addictive suicides upon the the obsessively weak by none other than the Government of New Brunswick with the sinsere intent of financial gain to the death of it's own people.
Exploitation definitly fits the bill and there should be an inquiry into the way this program has been handled over the life of it's existance to see if indeed the government of New Brunswick is Guilty of Murder for Prophet through a widespread highly addictive program as they are fully aware of the title this addiction holds over all other forms of gambling (The crack cocaine of Gambling)
